i’m putting my trust in you dr lady i’ve never met update for everyone replying to this comment a year later: my skin is very clear, i’ve pretty much stopped breaking out. my dermatologist said my skin is “perfect and gorgeous” and to keep doing whatever i’m doing, if i wanted to get a facial to feel brighter and fresher than i could but not to change my routine. i used this to make a routine just before i started going to the derm. i get a pimple here and there but nothing a pimple patch doesn’t get rid of. i did sensitive routine. just trying to figure out how to fade my dark spots now, but they’re not too bad - i have freckles so i think sometimes my dark spots and freckles blend together. i was very embarrassed and depressed by how my skin looked when i originally commented and i didn’t even want to look at myself, i still won’t let anyone see my before pictures except my dermatologist. my skin was decent in college, it was pretty clear, then i started trying things skincare youtube was recommending and it broke me out bad and nothing i was doing was clearing it up until i used this video to create a routine. i put my routine in the replies of this comment.

@@defnotjill5949 i actually think my skins cleared up a lot, i’m following the sensitive skin routine (except i already had a salicylic acid face wash so i just kept using that instead of the benzoyl peroxide one in the morning) i had some purging from the differin gel but it wasn’t as bad as the purging i’ve seen from other people and it wasn’t much worse than the acne i was already dealing with, it’s just coming to a head faster. i’ve seen people say it causes a lot of really dry/flaky skin or irritation during their purge but i didn’t have that, just the areas around a pimple would get dry and flake a little (i usually put aquaphor over my face afterwards to avoid dryness but when i don’t use it i’m still not super dry). i have some acne marks but that’s mostly from me picking at them or trying to pop them before they came to a head. i think the differin gel made the big difference, she said to start off slow and use it a few nights a week but i’ve used retinol before so i just started using it every night because i wanted to get through the purge. it says best results after 12 weeks, i think i’ve been using it for 7, i’ve still been getting pimples, maybe one a week, but not as many and they come to a head faster (and go away faster when i don’t try to pop them)

Ladies, go get yourself wild chaga elixir and you'll be shocked by the results. Not only that it cleans your skin, but also it makes your hair shiny and healthy within a week! My friend's been using it since September and her skin is glowing, her hair is so shiny, and what's even more crazy it's that her eyes became even bluer. It's totally insane what wild chaga does to you. She also said that her energy is over the roof, never been so focused and motivated, hasn't been sick since she started drinking it. She convinced even me, even tho i don't have any skin issues but i have to feel those other benefits, so i ordered it few days ago. Trust me on this ladies, it will be your best investment ever. One more thing, make sure you buy the real organic wild chaga elixir, not some modified crap.

I bought all the products for sensitive skin(I have combination skin) and I've been using them day and night for 2 weeks. After having sudden adult acne/ hormonal acne for the past years, I am SOOOOO HAPPY THIS WORKED! The acne didn't disappear over night as she stated, but towards the middle of starting, it started to not only disappear, but my pores shrank again and my skin is glowing! The only thing I added to my routine is I apply regular witch hazel with a cotton pad after every washing, before differin gel and moisturizer. Although she said no spot treatment with differin gel, I still only put it on problem areas 🙃. I also only use the differin cleanser on my problem area and my "night time" cleanser on the rest of my face in the morning. I foam it up on my face then with a wet wash cloth, I wipe in small circles all around then rinse. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO! FREE AND ACCURATE ADVICE!!!

It might be too early to say, but I started the sensitive skin routine about 2 weeks ago and the amount of improvement I've seen is bonkers. I'm 41 and have suffered from cystic acne my whole life. Did a whole accutane treatment that helped for a while, but other than that NO OTHER skin routine has ever worked for me. I had been getting worse breakouts lately and was doing a lot of skin picking, so I figured what the hell I'll give another routine a shot. 2 weeks later, my skin is clear. I don't even have any little zits right now! I'm sure I'll get more in the future, but it was worth it just for this break alone ha ha. I will say the differin gel is pretty rough on my skin, so I've only used it twice a week thus far. I do have some dry patches from just that, but I can cover them pretty well with moisturizer and makeup. I may go down to once a week since I'm not in an active breakout cycle anymore. Thank you SO MUCH for this video!

My husband has oily skin that is very acne prone. When we got married he had cystic acne. He was able to clear it almost completely. He only occasionally gets break outs now. He never saw this video but almost everything she recommended is what he did. He used the exact face wash, a similar lotion, the exact retinoid, and a similar sun screen. I know this lady is legit because he happened to land on those products after years of trial and error and that is ultimately what cured his acne. I have sensitive skin and I am definitely going out to get her recommended products because I have never been successful with my acne. As someone with acne prone and sensitive skin myself I think we have to focus on the sensitive part the most. So if you were looking to pick a routine from here I'd say use her recommendations for sensitive skin. But if you want to do more/try more you could try swapping an oil controlling/reducing product (like the sulfur mask she recommended or a clay mask that you like that works well on your skin) for the night cleanser a couple nights a week. Or maybe try the 2% clearing treatment from the acne routine she recommends and try to incorporate that one or two days a week in the morning to see if your skin handles it well. She probably has a better answer but thought I could share my thoughts while you wait on an answer.

The protection is insane & it makes your skin look darn near airbrushed and poreless. I barely see formulations that sophisticated in US sunscreens. And in a drugstore product? Wow! I have been struggling with adult acne due to slow cell turnover and clogged pores for a decade. I have normal skin, not dry or oily. I decided to grab the bull by the horns and revamp my regimen with completely fragrance free products, and avoiding physical exfoliants(which I wasn't actually using anyway). I removed my makeup/sunscreen with plain mineral oil using a baby washcloth, and then washed it away with CereVe foaming cleanser. Then I applied CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion, and Differen gel. In the morning I washed my face with CeraVe SA cleanser, moisturized, and then applied a mineral sunscreen before my makeup. My skin purged, then started getting better, and then hit a plateau. I gave it nearly 6 months. It started clogging again like I was preparing to purge. My skin really wasn't any better than before, the acne just healed faster. I gradually started swapping out products. I started using the CeraVe Resurfacing Retinal Serum instead of Differin, stopped double cleansing with mineral oil, and stopped washing my face in the morning, only rinsing it with water. The itty bitty pores in my face were still really clogged with sebum, and I decided that even though they are controversial I would add in a physical exfoliant. On a whim I bought the Neutrogena Bright Boost Resurfacing micropolish, even though it had fragrance, and let me tell you this product has revolutionized my skin care. My skin is the best it's been in nearly 12 years. I just get in the shower, wash my face twice to make sure all my makeup is gone, scrub with the bright boost for about 30 seconds, and let it sit on for another minute. It contains mandelic and glycolic acids, and I think that's the reason it's been so effective for me, as well as the micropolishing. It's those really tiny abrasives like in a microdermabrasion kit. The rest of my regimen is the same.

My acne is mainly on my forehead but also on my cheeks. Im from europe where we dont have cerave, cetaphil etc. My skincare routine: Cleansing with a salicilic acid cleanser, putting on niacinimide from the ordinary, (depending on what day i use the aha, bha peeling solution from the ordinary or the retnoid in squalane 0,5%) and then i use an aloevera moisturizer. when i go out i use spf for sensitive skin too. RESULT: sill have acne and ive used these products for at least 2 months now. They started working great and i barely had any new pimples until one day (that was 7 days ago) i hat the BIGGEST breakout i have ever had in my LIFE. it was 4 days before my period but i dont think that is what caused it cuz this breakout was just so extreme. The most red and annoying ones are above my eyebrows and on the sides of my forehead. I cant spend more money on new products again and i dont know what to do. On the parts where i dont have any pimples my skin is literally completely texture free and smooth and on other parts its horrible. I am still on my period and im waiting for it to go away, maybe that was really the cause. (ps: i use the aha peeling only once a week and the retinoids ebery 3rd night) SO MY PROBLEM ISSSSS: i have dry AND oily skin, its kind of sensitive too since i get breakouts from EVERYTHING and my skin barrier is also damaged since its red a lot and sometimes it even itches. I was scared to use this routine because my skin really hasn’t ever worked with any products very well, but it’s probably the only routine that has worked for me specially this fast! If you have sensitive skin I recommend this routine a lot! I’ll keep updating y’all until I get the flawless clear skin, I just need to be patient lol, I’m very impatient!

You have to be patient thought because it took me a little while to get it all cleared up. I still use this routine till today and haven’t had a break out and a long time which is extremely rare for me! I do sometimes Switch my moisturizer or cleanser just to try other products but I majorly stick to this routine. I’m really happy and hope you find a routine that gives you great results which probably will be this one, if you have sensitive acne prone skin.

THANK YOU DOC!! I have been using a face wash, foam based with salicylic acid, a benzoyl peroxide treatment, and also a sunscreen with spf 25 which is specially made for acne prone skin. I have been using it for 3 months and it's MAGICAL AF. My acne has disappeared, but somehow there will be new breakouts but benzoyl solves it all in just 2-3 days. Now the prob I have is just PIE (post-inflammatory erythema). So looking for solutions, if you know anything bout it, do share! Will be more than grateful ♡

Amazing Sensitive Skin Routine. Thank you so much Dr! I do want to say one thing for everyone our there. If you are new to differin, please take it very slowly. I went a little crazy the first week and burned my skin terribly! After that I slowly (very slowly) augmented the quantity and now it works like charms for me.
@aliennzzz2 жыл бұрын
i shouldve read your comment, i use the sensitive routine and it was okay the first couple days but at the end of the week i looked at my skin it was all dry and my neck has a red rash which still burns and itches right now, now im trying to heal my skin barrier since the differin damaged it..😭😭
@shelbiepollito2 жыл бұрын
@@aliennzzz oww I am sorry to read this. Definitely stop everything, with me it was so bad that even moisturizer stung. Change your pillow case and wash the towel that you use to dry your face. The redness, flakiness, and itchiness subsided within a week that I stopped using differin. Now I usually put moisturizer first wait around 5 minutes, then apply about a pea size amount of differin on my skin. Sometimes if the day felt extra dry I will forgo differin on my most sensitive areas which are my cheeks and chin. Good luck!

@@shelbiepollito thank you for the advice !!!! for me moisturizer was still leaving it dry like i could see the flakes but then i started doubling the moisturizer and it doesn’t look flaky now,i’m using this product i found to hydrate my face it’s called advanced snail 96 mucin power essence… and wow it made my skin feel nice this is my 2 day using it and now i can move my mouth without it feeling tight 🥲 the relief but i heard it takes 2 weeks for the skin barrier to heal … i should’ve stopped using it when i applied it one night and then my whole face was itching … that was a sign that my skin didn’t like it. i have question though did you apply sunscreen whenever you went outside?
@shelbiepollito2 жыл бұрын
@@aliennzzz my pleasure! I was freaking out when it happened to me and frantically looking for answers haha. I was so painful 😓 YES! But not for the first week after my reaction, my skin was having nothing. But I did not let the sun touch my skin either, I was using sun hats. After a week, I slowly started applying moisturizer and sunscreen again. I used australian gold tinted SPF for almost a year but it started breaking me out the last few weeks. Now I am using supergoop mineral unseen sunscreen, no breaking out now.

Thanks for the feedback! In general, I recommend applying an exfoliant in the morning and the retinoid at night. If applied together, they may cause too much irritation. For personal medical advice, ask your doctor what is best for you. Thanks for the question and following along!

I have oily skin and I bought all the products recommended. The only product I couldn't stand on my skin was the oil absorbing moisturizer. It was sticky and the benzoyl peroxide product wouldn't absorb into my skin. By 5 pm my face was sticky and extremely oily. The layer of goo on my skin was nasty. Once I started just using the oil free moisturizer, My skin was much better! I thank you for recommending these products over all! My skin has improved dramatically!

Dr. Locke, on another one of your other videos you suggested not to use Neutrogena Clear Face with SPF 55 because it contains oxybenzone. I just wanted to point this out; I believe you were referring to another one with 30 SPF, which does not contain the chemical.
@TheBudgetDermatologist4 жыл бұрын
Yes! Very astute! Not everyone has the same level of concern with chemical sunscreens. So this is a personal preference. Clear Face SPF 30 is a chemical sunscreen without oxybenzone whereas the SPF 55 version is also a chemical sunscreen but does contain oxybenzone to get that added boost in SPF. Both are great options for acne prone skin and will have a matte finish. If you are the type that wants LESS chemicals, choose the SPF 30! Thanks for the comment :)

Conflicting views lol. I’d say a dry skin routine favors your skin barrier, and it would be better for a routine to provide adequate care for your drier regions than to accommodate your more oily ones - especially as far as cleansing habits and moisture retention go. Better off as trial and error tho, to figure out what works

Also, not sure if this will help, but oily skin actually requires more moisture. It sounds counter intuitive but think about it - the reason the skin is oily is bc it is compensating for the lack of moisture. Idk if this makes sense. Dry skin also needs moisture as well. So I'd say just make sure to stay hydrated and moisturize regularly. However, disclaimer: I am not a professional and I just heard this from my esthetician so don't take my word for it ^^;
