I apologize to those of you who had this video pop up twice in your subscription feed. The site had incorrectly flagged the video. But since I have a small channel, I didn't have any ability to appeal that. I slightly edited the video and reuploaded it to hopefully prevent it from being incorrectly flagged.

I think a lot of us would enjoy and learn if you would couple the old tank with a 2nd compressor. I know I would

Thank you for this video. I have a oil-less air compressor and I completely agree once they get to a certain age, it's not worth repairing. I have a run problem it will build to max pressure of 150psi but when it starts up again it will run slow and the motor gets hot and it cuts out. I think it's the run capacitor but it was changed a year ago. I changed both capacitors run & start and all you can get for this air compressor are Chinese capacitors and they are not very good.

If you use this as a secondary tank you won't need to buy such a big volume compressor, which will save some money, and the bigger volume means whatever compressor you do buy won't have to work as hard keeping the tanks within the pressure threshold. And depending how you plumb it, you can keep the main tank somewhat mobile if you need to take it to a job site.

Needs a top end kit. Get another compressor and use that tank as an air pig. Connect it to your new unit and have more capacity.

KZbin has flagged a couple of my videos recently. There was nothing wrong with them now it looks like they have been fixed.(I did not even request review or hit 1000 views.) I do not know what KZbin is doing. As for the compressor invest in a new belt drive compressor. I had a Craftsman oil less compressor that stopped building pressure so I went and bought Harbor Freights Central Pneumatic 29 gallon belt drive. It has been a good compressor so far. (It is a lot quieter and faster than an oil less.) I used the Craftsman tank as a secondary tank and now I have over 50 gallons of air. What I did was get a adapter for the Craftsman tank to step it down to a quick coupler end and got a short hose and connected the outlet of the HF regulator to the inlet of the Craftsman tank.( I left the 1 way check valve in.) Then I just set the regulator on the HF tank and it fills the Craftsman tank after it drops below a point and keeps it up to pressure. Then I can adjust my out going air with the regulator on the Craftsman. It works well. I hope that helps I all ways cringe at buying a used air compressor you don't know what shape it is in or if it has ever been drained or taken care of at all.

The extra volume comes in handy every time I use my compressor. Hooked up the old tank for volume.

Option 3. Buying new is the better choice if you're like me and have little time to muck around with stuff. Once the scope of the repair expands it's usually time to abandon it. There is powerful romance in fixing things but many times it becomes a time sink and time is the most precious commodity. The only reason to fix stuff like this is if you have little money and/or lots of time. Or little money and no other choice. I'll never buy another oil-free compressor. Too loud and too irritating a sound. Earmuffs a must. Great video.

I'd go ahead and disassemble the motor to try fixing it... when doesn't work I'd try to replace / fabricobble another motor on top! I'd have to recommend option 3!

This may be a weird question, but do you have to change the oil in this model??

This one is oil free. No oil to change. But they also don't last as long.

Does anyone know what the likely issue is for a compressor that will only build about 40 psi? Mine is doing the same thing.

Don't ever use aluminum tubing on something that vibrates. Its brittle and will break.

Just get a new one...old compressors are dangerous...they rust from the inside-out and can explode ...sending shrapnel everywhere...let us know which compressor you plan on buying...
