Dr Cloud simplifies with wise words. He states it isn't easy. AND NO guarantee of the outcome. The confronters job is to approach respectfully. No control of the other person's response.

It always causes the person you confront to be mad and the relationship goes south after that. Never have had good luck with it.

I also feel like it’s the way people say things as well. I was confronted last night and it was the way and the words she used that were so harsh, prideful and mean. I feel like it’s better received when people confront in a loving way, not coddling but firm but also not so harsh if that makes sense.

I find that it depends on your delivery. Maybe a better choice of words and tone can bring a better result.
