DISCLAIMER: Hey everyone, we understand that not everyone is happy and approving about this episode, and we understand that some of you have critical things to say. I wanted to make it clear that when it comes to Techlead, as well as any other guest we have on, it should not be confused as a personal endorsement, nor is this a recommendation to follow. We enjoy having guests on the show to share their perspective, challenge their beliefs, and share our own thoughts. Sometimes we will disagree with the subject matter, and we disapprove of certain choices, so we do our best to be critical and allow new discussions to take place. BUT PLEASE do your own research and due diligence, and do not confuse a conversation with an endorsement of an individual. We believe there was some good information shared, but just like anyone we speak with - you should proceed at your own risk and take everything with a grain of salt. We will continue to read the comments you share. Thank you so much!

Graham, giving a scammer a platform AND not calling them out on their scams is absolutely an endorsement. You’re not getting backlash because you have folks with “different views” on topics, you’re getting backlash for uncritically platforming a scammer. You should really delete this one.

People that don't understand where TechLead is coming from with this whole "there's something bigger than work" and his almost reckless "don't save money, live life to the fullest" probably haven't lost anything catastrophic in their lives. You have to remember he lost his wife who he thought he'd spend the rest of his life with and he lost his son. He basically chose defeat rather than drag them both through the mud of a futile legal battle and came out the other end wondering what it was all for. I can relate because I was 12 years old when my mom died in a car wreck and my dad was never a part of my life. Early on I was faced with the questions of what's really important, and it was at that age that I realized, among many things, money is worthless unless it's used as a tool for living life with a purpose.

Graham, this is not only the third ICH I’ve watched, but also watched in its entirety. I’ve been a subscriber of yours since I was first turned on to you and your video channels through Meet Kevin, who I rarely ever watch anymore. It seems, that with now watching these ICH videos, I am now, and I kind of cringe to say it, a huge fan of yours! Watching your interactions with these very intelligent people, and how you handle your disagreement with certain points they may bring up, how you’re not afraid to say “no” or to infer that you don’t agree with what they are saying, like with Michael and his reasoning about the Chinese housing market, is wonderful to watch. This interview made me respect you even more! The interaction between you and Techlead where he was making very assumptive statements about why you do what you do, and your responses was very insightful as to your character! Anyway, I’m a fan! Bravo and keep doing what your doing! You’re inspiring a lot of people, one of which is me!

such an episode should be dedicated to the research of why he created and made that bad coin (sponsored by you and others among other things) that created several problems for the creators (including you graham) and that potentially made them lose part of the public trust in you. what he created is an image damage to a group of creators who for years have built their careers on youtube. however, the effort you put into not shaming a person like that deserves a like.

Very interesting interview. I often watch both Graham's and Techlead's videos. To see both methods and point of views being brought out on the same stage is quite entertaining. Both sides has very good points. Both requires hard work and grind. One was saving and investing, and the other was go hard and make impact until you get rich. Listening to Techlead, he has some really interesting points and way of thinking. Difficult to dissect and understand at times, but once you get through all the semantics you'd realize that while it feel very cold, he makes tons of sense and may actually be hurting deep inside. On Graham's side it feels quite wholesome and warm. There may be numerous ways towards wealth. But every single way requires hard work, dedication, and actually doing it.

This was a really good interview. As someone in the tech industry, having followed tech youtube for years, I've followed Tech Lead in the past, saw watched as multiple situations unravelled and then unfollowed him due to the many shifty situations that he was involved in. This was years ago so to see this video crop up was a surprise to me, ultimately Tech Lead does have some solid points, ones I agree with and of course others I disagree with. In terms of tech he is doing what I want to eventually get to; make a load of apps that make money - but of course minus the shady bits - so it was interesting to hear. I certainly won't be going back to his videos ever again, however I still appreciate this interview and really like the fact that you guys are taking guests and interviewing with an unbiased view as everyone can learn something from most perspectives but also should be reminded to always think for yourself and not blindly follow anyone no matter their status.

@@jonsl2000 Working for a better quality of life isn't shady, screwing others over to get it is, gaslight others is also, both of which Tech Lead seems to have experience with. From my view Graham and Jack are not shady, they are two people that enjoy working hard, I've not once seen any situation where Graham has pulled what Tech Lead has and I've been following him for almost a decade. I'm not religious so I don't believe in heaven but you can believe what you wish. Becoming wealthy to me is having enough money to enjoy the short time we have on earth without the stress of wondering when you'll next get to eat or how long you'll have a roof over your head for. 31:51 podcaster didn't deserve to sit next to teach lead. I have feeling that he is one of the greatest thinkers of our times. He have really fresh new ideas, interesting and helpful frames, great topics. He didn't afraid to talk straight about things no one talks about. And he has deep artists touch to him, he has unic level of is inspiration under his sacrasm. Unic guy, really live that guy so much, looks like he is honest and opened about everything. Legit person. 31:51 it absolutely feels like insult. I would like 1:51:18 sec listen to only teach lead. I think he needs to write a book. Eyes opening guy.

Not sure why the topic was danced around an hour but... Thankfully Alex said it directly and got it out of Graham. If you were to die in a week, what would you do? The answer of *working* was gone. You can always obtain *money.* You can minimize impacts on your *health* as much as you can. Your *YOUTH* & *TIME* will never be something you can get back. Life is about experiences & relationships you've built along the way. When your life flashes before your eyes are you thinking about working or the people and experiences you had? But hey, some people just love working and can't fault them for that. If its fun for them, its fun for them!

I saved money, despite the ridicule from my younger cousins. When my dad went through a tons of medical issues and with incredibly limited insurance, I was able to help him. I also was able to fix my roof when when a small part of it caved. I was also able to fix my bathroom when bad plumbing caused moldy wood to become termite food. Life throws surprises at me every now and again, and I always found my savings to be invaluable. Techlead holds conflicting ideas. He says to not take risks, but he takes tons of risks. He says to work hard and hold a job and side gigs and hustle, but he doesn't believe in working too hard. He shows how important it is to make lots of money, but at then preaches against making money.

TechLead, I concurrent your thought process as I think and live on your kind of philosophy. More of a minimalist. As a type A (an Investor, Healthcare provider, an entrepreneur) I have been through a similar phase, Just sold my exotic car and ( other possessions). Downsizing investment portfolio, minimizing things that take too much time. People are wired very differently, they reach their peak and valley of life journey at different times. I definitely am enjoying parting with busi-ness of money-making and having more time on my hand. My best advice is - that one must identify their own Maslows Pyramid, 20 to 30% cushion over one's own Maslow's hierarchy of needs should put one in the best mode. Split that cushion properly, 65% in fun and 35% invest. Don't compromise with the cost opportunity. In the last three decades, money craving has become a priority over true enjoyment of life. I question, why many rich people have more miserable personal lives (Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, Trump, and the list is unending). The new world of fake entrepreneurship has shown and portrayed fake success of money by showing what Jeff B , Bill, G etc did but you never have interviewed their wives and children or heard the other side ........things are not as glittery as their wives and kids would say. Pick your POISON wisely. Graham wouldn't it be good to interview their spouses and children and of course, if they would be willing to give their honest inside.

I haven't watched the entirety of this podcast, but it's pretty clear that TechLead has struggled with some of life's bigger questions while Graham has found enjoyable activities which serve as useful distractions from facing those same questions. But he will inevitably realize that there's more to life, and he may end up regretting not getting on with it sooner. TechLead made a good point that most of what Graham does is read the news and spin his wheels, when financial security/success largely boils down to fairly simple advice. But accepting that would make most of Graham's profesional activities (which dominate his life) obsolete. It is in his interest (and the interest of those he employs) not to see this.

43:00 Finally! I've been saying this for years! I am 36 years old making KZbin videos with my Thai wife. Before Covid we were traveling a lot. My father got Parkinson disease at age 40, I was 14 at the time. Life can hit you at any point. There is no reason to accumulate wealth only to use it to enjoy life when you are 60 years old, or not even make it to that age because of an accident or disease. I don't think that I will ever completely retired, but it's never going to consume my life. The 2 vacations per year family analogy is perfect. A lot will call him arrogant, but he's right. YOUTH is something people like Graham severely underestimate. p.s: I say "Thai" to give context clues. We live in Thailand so cost of living is lower then what it would be in my home country Canada.

Techlead has a lot of growing up to do. Criticizing Graham for his breakup with a high school girlfriend while his own wife, the mother of his child, left the country to get away from him exposes his complete lack of any self awareness. Grahams occasional obsession with work sure beats Techlead’s inability to understand and feel love. As I watch Graham, even in his hyper work ways, I can see his love for people. His love for Macy, his dad,Jack and Alex. While Graham financially may be at the 2 foot mark compared to Techlead’s 6 feet, Though with hidden emotions Graham graciously shares his gifts and his love. Emotionally Graham is pushing higher from his current miles above earth residence. Techlead, emotionally is crawling on his stomach.

Graham is leagues ahead of Techlead, in terms of wealth, and their trajectories are in two completely different directions. Graham can already retire, but he likes what he does. Techlead is a has been who's trying to sustain an unsustainable lifestyle with ad rev that's falling away from him. Graham is interesting in new ideas, while Techlead is only interested in himself. This is going to end with Tech "lead" serving someone and Graham continuing to get richer. Graham is humble and extremely financially intelligent, while Techlead is just lucky and hasn't learned anything beyond a programming language. I hate to berate the guy, but I don't know where you get the idea that Techlead is doing better. He literally can't even afford 5k a month in child support. That's a rounding error to Graham!
