8 GB on a M1 is feels like 16 on a regular one- so unless you are going to program multiple orchestras it will work fine for you. We also have an Air M1 at home. 129 Track Production in Ableton with multiple instances of Kontakt, Nexus 3 and even Diva (everything not running natively!) is no problem 😜 Have a good one 🎊

Do you have a solution for using external SSDs over wifi when using the macbook different rooms in the house (i think the SSDs will have some performance decrease because of the wireless thing) but when connecting to the cable the SSDs deliver full performance? And THEN being able to unplug one of these SSDs for mobile work and use them for plugging it into the MB directly at a friends studio

@LexanderMiller4 жыл бұрын
No? Apple warns you of this because there are a few bad apples that will write data without you knowing, but once you save everything and wait a second after it’s done saving, nothing should be transferring and USB devices are smart enough to know not to blow up when unplugged.

I bought this dock hoping to do the same with my m1 macbook air. Instead this wavlink introduced noise in every element of my studio. It shot noise through my audio interface (usb), the headphone output of the m1 mac. The headphone out of my 4k monitor, the audio output of the wavlink itself. I swapped it out for a caldigit thunderbolt 4 element hub, problem solved. I found the wavlink dock to be of cheap plastic and low quality in all aspects. I can say this video review should be looked at with the use of a c-clamp and shoddy cable management as the tip of the iceberg for prospective buyers. Lesson learned for me here. Thanks.

I was looking at ways to run the stack of audio interfaces I have (for guitars, bass, drum set....etc etc etc) midi controllers, pads, beatsteps, synths, old synths with midi pin > usb, ipad pro's running model 15, moog model D etc with midi outs. This seems like I can have my mixing desk and all of the things hooked into it. This looks like to fit the bill!

**Buyer beware** Videos like this need to specify exactly what model MacBook Pro is being discussed as I recently purchased a Belkin USB-C (Thunderbolt 3) Gigabit Ethernet adapter for my mid-2015 MacBook Pro which is not compatible with a USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 adapter. This model of MacBook Pro requires a Thunderbolt 2 Gigabit Ethernet adapter instead. Simply calling it a MacBook Pro is doing a disservice for those who may end up wasting money buying the wrong adapter.

The connection between the computer and the hub is Thunderbolt 3, not USB. If the cable is too long, you won't get the 40 GB/s Thunderbolt 3 speed. You will get 20 GB/s. The cable that comes with the hub is only 0.7 meters to do 40 GB/s. The Thunderbolt cable length spec for the high speed is pretty short unless you buy a more expensive active cable. I have a Thunderbolt 3 add-on card on my Windows 10 desktop. I use it to connect my Universal Audio Apollo 4X Thunderbolt and high speed storage
