Obviously the answer. Would have been good in the last game too as Bellingham was leggy on his forward runs. I'm not sure why they insist on Bellingham as a 10. What I find so confusing is that he hasn't even tryed it, he would rather experiment with Trent, Bellingham and Rice then Foden, Bellingham and Rice. I would understand if he did and it didn't work but I always just assumed he was experimenting in the Qualifiers and then just use the obvious 3 Southgate cant handle the easy job, the team Wrights itself with all the stars alligning and yet he cant just play the players in their positions, we constantly find our selves 1 - 0 up early on in matches and yet he struggles to get us over the line, euro final up 1 - 0 after just 2 mins and he couldn't manage a win, we were so negative we only managed 5 more shots and only one on target. Their problem is their pressing as a whole, and also failed to create chances in terms of both quantity and quality. Look at 09-12 Barcelona and 17-20 ManCity. You don’t need too many physical/defensive players in the midfield. England and their fans’ mindset are way too conservative.

Every pundit and fan has basically said the same thing. This is the game to really go for it and start playing players in their natural positions. Foden has to play #10, that’s the position he won PL player of the year. Bellingham can easily play #8 in front of Declan Rice at #6. Trust him (Rice) and the centrevpbacks to hold the defence. Play Gordon or Cole Palmer at the left, Saka at right and Kane up front. Yet Southgate goes ahead and makes the least exciting change talking about the ‘ Kalvin Phillips position’. I’m worried that Kane and Bellingham did look leggy and tired in the last game so they could do with a rest. Replace them with Watkins and Mainoo at the start and bring them in as subs if necessary,

I have been watching England since Spain '82. The drama never changes. The inability to have great players working as a team is legendary. Talisman players with injuries... poor tactics, players out of position, over rigid structures, slow starts. Really easy groups that we make look hard. Having players do all the naff PR stuff. Dicey media relations when fans get worked up. Penalties. You need ballers at this level, not players who just pass laterally. @@dsmethurst41because he’s a very media brainwashed person who has fallen for the lie that Trent is a unbelievable world class player with the ability to split defences with his passing ability and forgetting that he is the player who has been in decline consistently for the last three seasons. This tournament he has the worst record in tackles and distance coverage and has been lost possession in dangerous areas resulting in big chances for the opposition. Southgate really struggles with creative midfielders. He didn't take a midfield to Russia. Left Shelvey at home, our only available creative midfielder, and we struggled against very poor teams. He treated that world cup like a fact finding mission to set us up for the next Euros, the only fact being that Southgate was unresolvable garbage and yet here we are, same old same old.
