We're back with another exciting tribal build for this week's Conquering! In this episode, we examine the once noble elf leader of Mirrodin, Ezuri. Does his corruption make this version better or worse than his mono-green counterpart? Does blue have enough elves to make it worthwhile? Will I ever get bored of playing with lord type creatures? Tune in to find out!

I have always ran Simic from the start and I love it. I started in Ravnica-Theros standard and tbh Born of the Gods' Kiora got me into Simic and I never stopped, I played a wild Simic standard deck with whatever I had available which made for a very inconsistent (near singleton) deck that was screaming for a commander build. Finaly one of my friends found Commander and I already had a huge head start running Kruphix as the commander, then Edric, then Primespeaker finally landing on Ezuri when he was released, the precon gave me a tone of good fixing as well as a few of the little dudes that makes up my deck. My deck was never and Elf deck and will never be an elf deck, that beign said as a long term Ezuri, Claw of Progress player I would recommend not sage of hours, it is political suicide to the point where, at least in my playgroup, with fathom mage and Lab maniac being long term staples of my deck I became to consistent and ended up winning too often and becoming the target even when I was behind. other than that TOKENS!!! play a bunch, go ham, have a blast, get wrathed and start over, or if your lucky just win!

Giz I have to agree on the not sage of hours bit. one guy in my group pulled that once then next game got pummeled by all our combo and fast beatdown decks. needless to say it's hard to pull off when 2 people are punching you to death while 3 others are speeding out infinite combos unimpeded

Going elfball, though great for flavor, is less effective than maximizing blue for evasion. Flying, shadow, and the nonkeyword unblockable abilities are the best for ezuri's massive boosting. Also, creatures that come out with token creatures, like the eldrazi that make scions when they enter are great ways to boost experience quickly and effectively.

My ezuri deck is the following: ways to search sage of hours, ramp, protection, counters, and a hornet queen to get 5 experience counters.

Paradox Engine and Concordant Crossroads seems good in a deck like this too, provided you have ways of drawing cards.

+MTG Muddstah although its not a 2 power creature. deadeye navigator is disgustingly good in simic decks. imagine intruder alarm, hold on ima make this deck

Deadeye Navigator is a very strong card. Speaking of which, he pops up in tomorrow's video!

My favourite card in Ezuri is actually Mycoloth. Not only does it work as a fantastic beater late-game, it takes all of your little guys, chews them up, and spits out twice as many saprolings - which give Ezuri experience. Experience that he can then dump onto Mycoloth to make even more tokens.

Hydras are great too. Kalonian Hydra is a beast with Ezuri.

Very good video as always! Your tribal theme suggestion seems quite fun!! Could you please consider creating a guide for Jenara, Asura of War in a kind of Bant Goodstuff deck? :)

I am running him as a simic goodstuff deck. Personally I think Edric is better as a general for simic goodstuff, but ezuri has the massive advantage of being able to run Glistener elf + Rouge's passage and Blighted agent as very effective win cons. Difficult to hate on Elfball though :p

Token generation, doubling season, parallel lives, fable of wolf and owl, etc. I primarily use Ezuri as a tokens deck to build exp counters quickly. Most of the time if no one has an answer for Ezuri early on the board can get out of hand quickly.

Definitely. I tried to record a game with a similarly uncontrollable Ezuri. It wasn't long enough to use, haha!

Yeah, and it works really great too. Casting Ixidron and putting dozens of +1/+1 counters on your own mrophs, so that they can easily overpower the other 2/2s is just so much fun. XD

I don't go tribal in my Ezuri, CoP deck. There are only 3 or so other elves in mine. I play evasion, utility, and token generating creatures, with a smattering of infect. I would go full infect, but I feel gross whenever I win with infect and support a rule doubling the number of poison needed to kill in EDH. That might push me to go full infect though. i go super low curve, and heavy on creatures with an Ezuri protection package. You are right. Don't waste counter spells on saving your pumped up guys. Save Ezuri. Once you get 6 or seven experience counters he's all that really matters as any other creature is a big threat.

Built a Simic Ezuri: lots of blue and green creatures and very few other spells... Boy, these can get out of control so very fast. The win ration I've had so far is very good, I must say. Happy camper. :)

Lords are no good for Ezuri because they will ruin his ETB trigger. Creatures hitting the field with power 3 or greater is no good.
