As an American I've already made up my mind that 18 for drinking is so much better. Smoking at 18 used to be a thing but was bumped up to 21 a few years ago. Also insane. Same with school in full honestly. We force our population to be in school until they are 18 I think that's too long. Maybe 16 at the most which would be around 10th grade. The last two grades are always just filler classes that no one cares about anyway. The 16 year olds are so over being in school at this point. So many things that Don't make sense. My brother is in the navy at 18 but couldn't drink, smoke or get a tattoo???? Are you crazy? He could become government property but couldn't do any of that???

I’m a heterosexual female who feels sexual scenarios need to be behind doors for everybody. I get uncomfortable watching sex scenes in movies and television. It has nothing to do with who it’s involving but where it’s happening. I just feel like sexuality shouldn’t be such a commonality in public. Be gay, hug and have a kiss in public, but nobody, straight or gay, needs to be grinding on each other in public.

I absolutely have this same thought. I would never imagine acting in certain ways in public at all with my husband and if we did we would be shamed/ stared at! But apparently it’s ok for gay people. I know a few lesbian couples that grind on eachother and are soooo inappropriate but people love it and cheer it on! It makes me so uncomfortable. If I say anything im a homophobe. We can never win.

The irony is that the people who do just live their lives do so much more for acceptance than the outspoken ones. I'm a bit obsessed with cruising. I love watching cruise vlogs, and some of my favorite vloggers are gay (Talking about Cruising with Ben and David, and JJ Cruise). Ben and David have "the gay personality" but they're never over-the-top inappropriate (like once or twice they'll have a gay innuendo, but it's usually hilarious). JJ Cruise are also very obviously gay too, but not in an over-the-top way. I guess what I mean is, I see no difference in the interactions between a het couple like ParoDeeJay or EECC vs JJ or Ben&David. Like, it's the same level of interaction. Them being gay has never been an issue or even more than a passing thought. They're just adorable together, ya know? Like in the same way that Dee and Jay of parodeejay are.

The hyper sexualization is one of the big reasons why I never accepted the label of "lgbt" as a gay man. It comes with so much that I don't want any part of. Another reason is everything about me gets assumed once someone knows. My politics, my morals, my proclivities. I hate it. I'm just me. I'm not the lgbt.

I am straight white man (just for context) and the idea that your sexuality defines you is an utter misnomer on so many levels, eg: some of the great poets hid their homosexuality, Wilfred Owen, Emily Bronte, Fernando Pessoa and others, it was their writings that defined them, not their sexuality, but we now live in a world where they shoe horn in any label to define these people (esp in media amd the arts) it is utterly redundant but yet its pushed like its revelatory, it isn't I think you are right to bring this up.

Parents have lost their (healthy) power over their children and children are peer orientated instead of parent orientated. Children can only have 1 leader and now that it's in the hands of peers who follow one another, mainstream/Hollywood/social media and universities can pull their strings and the rest follow. Parents mostly just give their children whatever shuts their child up instead of the hard work of building a proper relationship. Children are DYING for REAL connection. They'll do anything to feel accepted by peers even tho "Mom and dad love you unconditionally".... so long as the child makes them happy and are grateful the parents gave the child life and everything they needed *physically* for a "good" life. Yet emotionally abandoned.

The double mastectomy talk was so uncomfortable. When I was going through puberty, I wanted to have a flat chest so I could play soccer shirtless. I told my mom all the time "I wish I was a boy". She encouraged me to love myself as I was (which I still wasn't able to do until well into adulthood). I can't imagine how my life would have been if a double mastectomy was the recommended course of action for me. I would have missed everything that matters to me as an adult. I want to have children. I want to breastfeed if I'm physically able to. I know that's just my feeling about it, but you don't even know yourself until you're older.
@McP1mpin
@McP1mpin Жыл бұрын
A lot of people focus on the breastfeeding part but there's not enough emphasis on the fact that if you block puberty and put a girl who hasn't been through puberty on testosterone, she's almost guaranteed to be sterile with no ability to reverse it. For all this talk about "men having babies", the reason why you rarely ever hear about it actually happening is because despite having the right parts, they physically can't. The ones who can transitioned later in life after puberty and they have to stop taking testosterone in order to get pregnant, essentially detransitioning in order to accomplish that, which kind of negates the whole concept of men having babies to begin with.

@eduzz4655 The issue isn't only that people can't decide which age is appropriate, but whether it's appropriate at all. Most of this intervention is unnecessary anyway, barely any of these kids even have any meaningful dysphoria, they just have some discomfort and want to look cool to their peers. Saying you shouldn't let minors get gender affirming care just gives them that much more time to come to their senses. It's not like adults transitioning is this happy, joyful thing either.

@bbb12124
@bbb12124 Жыл бұрын
@@boringmonkey6958There ain't no damn bi erasure by gay men and lesbians, bro. If it exists, it's coming from straight people. Sure there's the cliche of bi now gay later, but those instances were usually proven to be true. It's not erasure. It's simply observing precedence. Gay men and women are more guilty of bi INFLATION...this non-stop attempt to make bisexuality more prevalent for ulterior motives. What makes one gay or straight is consistency with the ACTUAL definition, which is ATTRACTION, NOT behavior. I'm sick of gay people bitching about the religious right reducing sexuality to acts but then proceed to do the same thing. Yes, a straight man can take a dick as many times as he wants and still be straight as long as he's only attracted to women. There is no quota. Likewise a gay man can have sex with women every day and still be gay. Much of people's confusion about sexuality boils down to the assumption that attraction is the only motive for sex when in fact pleasure is the most primary motivation. It also has a bit to do with the fact that some people have deluded themselves into believe that the psychological boundaries of sexual orientation is mirrored in the physical body. It is not. I dare a supposedly gold star gay to put his erect (regardless about what caused it to be erect) in a vagina and NOT orgasm to prove that that they're really gay, which puts them under the same expectation that they put on others who are comfortable with their sexuality, in an attempt to nurse their own weird complexes about the opposite sex (ditto for straights in regards to the same sex) Put on a blindfold and let me see that "straight dick" stay limp while receiving service from "male lips". Like it or not, there are physical pleasures one can get from men that they can't get from women and vice versa, which have nothing to do with orientation. There are also pleasures to be gotten from this body part but not that one. Acknowledging this or having behavior that reflects this is not indicative of bisexuality. Surprisingly it IS validation of trans though. Like the others, bisexuality has a meaning. Words matter. So if the person isn't attracted to both, then y'all need to stop claiming these people are bisexual just because it suits your comfort zones. The straights love to conflate bisexual with homosexual to fit their comfort zones. And the homos overestimate bisexual for two reason, to validate their ick factor or choices ("I'm gay and wouldn't screw the opposite sex, YUCK so why would you"... phantom bisexuality then becomes an anchor for such weird complexes) and to hold on to the false hope that that straight person is more available than they really are.
@bbb12124
@bbb12124 Жыл бұрын
Btw, it's a bit rich that so many try to make the psychological boundaries that exist for sexual orientation into a physiological fact (In order to make space for a non-existent bisexuality) when the same people are gung ho to separate the TQ on the basis that the latter is more about physical types than physiological types.

Amir was VERY exhausting as were almost all the so-called conservative guys on the trans issues. The only sensible one was the guy in the purple jacket. Many "LGB" are so warped by transphobia and their own bizarre complexes about sexuality that they're projecting bisexuality onto non-bisexuals, not only equivocating (eg. alternating between informal, colloqiai definitions of male/female to strictly medical meanings) but also completely disregarding established meaning of words in favor of their feelings, such as defining sexual orientation by behavior rather than attraction. How UNbecoming of someone claiming to be conservative. I thought conservatives were supposed to be rational. They're so busy pushing this silly narrative of "biphobia" that they're incapable of looking in the mirror to see that they're calling the kettle black. TQ is the least of this "community's" problem. The bigger issue is the epidemic of low critical thinking skills. Don't tell me about irreversible body modification of trans youth when you have nothing to say about circumcision. This fake backlash against trans is some orchestrated social engineering bullshit. I completely believe the trans people who say socalled bisexuals are the biggest instigators of transphobia. The fabricated biphobia narrative was a precursor to this phenomenon. The reality is that society has a bigger problem with mono - monogamy and monosexuality. Listening to gay people like Amir, straightened my view and made me see gay people as normal humans, that don't carry their sexuality tattooed on their foreheads. The community as it is right makes me wish I never were in the first place.... there definitely should be a separation LGB / TQ+ as they don`t even mean the same thing. One is gender structure based on how you feel as a person and the other is sexual orientation, which you can`t choose.... The two can somehow coexist if you adhere to all the ideologies out there but if you keep it simple, Gender identity and sexual orientation is two different thing. So many unnecessary accommodation people shouldn`t focus on their identity but who they WANT to become, working toward a goal and participating in society, you can`t know who you truly are unless you have lived your life already.

And I'm sorry but the original movement should've NEVER let this spiral out of control as it did. Everyone who tried to warn people back then about this exact outcome, was silenced by calling them homophobic and what not. Now suddenly everyone has their Pikachu face going and is SOOO astonished . To the first question: I think that the oversexualization is more of a male thing. When I think about stuff I've heard about grindr and compare it to my experience of dating as a lesbian, it's very different, and I don't think I've ever seen pictures of women in weird fetish gear at Pride. I guess it has something to do with lesbians being overly sexualized by straight men, like, lesbian porn made for men has always been super popular, so I think we try to sometimes even desexualize ourselves because of that. Like, it tells a lot imo that there's a huge industry of gay porn aimed at gay men, but lesbians don't really have that going on. Sure, there are some girls who go topless at Pride and engage in hookup culture, and there are a lot of gay men who just wanna live regular, normal lives, but the subcultures around those communities are very different, so even though this is centered around gay men, it would have been interesting if someone had brought it up, especially since they're talking about the whole LGBT community instead of just gay men.

I was first introduced to LGBT when I was about 13. My friends at the time were all for it and were teaching me what the acronym meant. At first it was LGB, then LGBT, LGBTQ, LGBTQ+ and so on. When the T was introduced, my friends told me about it, and I began questioning my own gender and what I should be. I grew up a tomboy. I always felt more masculine than other other girls, and transitioning was something I initially thought I should do. I wanted to cut my hair, I wanted to wear boy clothes, at school I was called boy names. Now? I love being a woman. I want to be a mom, and and I know embrace that though I may be a masculine woman, I'm still also very feminine. I have a husband who accepts me, and a family who's loved me enough to not push me into any sort of gender affirming care. 13 was not the age to make life altering decisions, and thank you, Amala, Amir, and Taylor, for being a sound voice of reason that also validates stories like mine, and fight for children's safety.

Im living in a country where LGBTQ+ is generally accepted in some ways. While there may be people who feel that this is wrong, but they dont get aggressive about it. No one is being beaten up or being judge for being different. Occasionally there may be some does show their discomfort. However our law does not recognise gay marriage. I used to think that this law must change, but at the same time im worried that my country will become like the US now.

You know, just because there are unwanted consequences to something, it should not prevent you from doing what's right. But to reassure you, plenty of countries that have changed the law regarding same-sex marriage are not in the same situation as the US.

it won’t i mean alot of countries legalizing gay marriage way before US are still fine, people of USA are too polarize politically that its politics is using them to either vilinized them or weaponised them on their political war.

Two things I have to say about the over sexualization of gay. From a young age, most gay movies, experiences were all about how you looked, hooking up, and sleeping around and it made me feel as a young gay man that I had to go and be sexual and when I was in these sexual encounters I had to be “submissive” and “please” the top I was sleeping with. It was my number one priority and goal and it ended up with me having sex and having a painful, unbearable experience on multiple occasions. On top of that, I ended up downloading Grindr at a young age, and hooking up with men as old as 40-43, while I myself was 14. Secondly, the one guy who said he felt comfortable. I’ve always been a chubby, slightly thicker framed young guy and I’ve never felt comfortable on the apps I’ve been, I’ve never felt comfortable being around other gay men. Because we put so much emphasize on how we look, how we dress, how we present ourselves, and often times we put so much emphasize on our worthy and how many partners we have had.

I was in a rural town in Florida couple months back. And I saw a few gays in stores and down town. And I know they were gay, because of how brightly they were flashing it. One of them had the flag on his shirt. Another you could tell by how he was talking with his friend. No one cared.

Puberty is like playing a video. People think blockers are putting the video on pause. That if you want to unpause the video. It will start playing right where it left off. Blockers are not a pause button. They are a mute button. The video keeps playing. If you wait to long to unmute. The video will be over, and their is no rewind! You missed it, and now you’re stuck with an undeveloped body of the rest of your life!

In some states a gay person can still be fired if their boss finds out that they're gay, there are no protections for employees against discrimination and this mostly has to do with the protections of freedom of religion. Also some states do not have protections against housing discrimination for gay people. So right there those are two examples of what rights gay people so not have.

I am liberal, Bi, and a married ( to a man) mom of 2 young adults. I am Gen X, 48 yrs old, and found myself becoming more liberal as time went on. Today, as liberal as I KNOW I AM, I can't get on board with today's pride and child transitions. These kids are just looking to fit in somewhere and feel like they have friends and belong somewhere. The same reasons we used to smoke pot, kids are now cutting off their genitals. I quitsmoking weed over a decade ago. These kids will never get to change their minds. These kids should wait until they are fully developed. They will evolve so much from 12 to 20 that they won't recognize themselves when they look back. If they can't decide legally for that reason to be able to buy cigarettes and smoke, why do we let them decide to cut off a body part? I've watched a lot of detransition stories, why are their voices invalid?

Let kids be kids, people. Their imagination are wild.Wilder than you've ever thought. So if your kid told you one day : "Dad, mom, I think I'm a dog." Give him time to rethink about it. Because I'm sure that in a timespan of few days, you'd ask him again, he'd say : "Oh yeah, forgot about that" or something in the same register. Well, that's the same thing for gender. For my case, I wasn't a tomboy but I didn't want to be a girl when I was younger just because it was so annoying to be (well, still is to be honest😂) = uncomfortable underwears, periods, catcalling , etc., I had enough when I was in middle school. But I grew up and fortunately my parents didn't take me seriously when I said multiple times "I wanna be a boy !" Well, to be fair, I'm not gonna lie, it was said jokingly. But sometimes I was damn serious.

I am a transgender man, and even _I_ think there should be laws in place protecting children from mutilating their bodies with surgery or drugs. There's a reason we don't let 6 year olds get tattoos, or body piercings, there's a reason we don't let 12 year olds go to bars. These are young children who can't be responsible for making potentially body-altering, life altering decisions that effect their development. It's not transphobic to say an 8 year old can't make important life decisions on their own, it's a fact.

What exactly is a CONSERVATIVE gay? Do they practice an ancient form of homosexuality??
@elvickRULES

I’m gay. A quote I heard and has stuck with me was always, “I want being gay to be as interesting as being left handed.” That’s exactly what I want. And independent of me my husband also knew of that quote. 1. Way too over sexualized. I hate it and am so glad I found my husband fresh out of the gate at 19, so I didn’t have to navigate the gay dating world at all. This idea I’ve seen a lot in media is that being gay necessitates being promiscuous or open relationships or sexual in how you present yourself, and this “what’s the point of being gay” if you don’t do those things and that’s just gross to me. (I’ve seen that attitude in multiple tv shows 😒) 2. I’ve never liked Pride, I can see its value back in the day and back then the gays looked like normal people by and large. Now it’s a joke that makes us look degenerate. I just don’t think we should be proud of things we didn’t accomplish. 🤷‍♂️ 3. Yes, though agree with Amala that we shouldn’t have the “community” anyway.

I'm a lesbian and American. I've been harassed by strangers for holding hands with my fiancé but it's only happened a couple of times. Yeah it sucks and in the moment it's scary but I'm not going to pretend like I'm fighting for my life every single day. Homophobic people do still exist but it's not as crazy as some of these people make it out to be. I've lost a couple people in my life due to them being genuinely unable to accept my sexuality. There are some countries I'll never be able to go to or at least be myself in. But when it comes to living everyday life in this country, it's rare for me to experience true homophobia. Even when I do experience it, I move on with my life. The best way to "fight homophobia" is to just live my life and be happy.
