Consort HAIR SPRAY: History and Product Review

I use Consort hairspray. It’s more of a sentimental choice for me as well. I buy it from Amazon and found you get the best price per can when purchasing a 3 or 6 pack.

It would be alright IF it has a masculine fragrance to it the way ALL men's hair dressings and products should be. Lately, it started having a crummy bouquet of flowers fragrance in it is why I won't bother with it at all. Many moon ago, Dep styling Gel had a cream, a gel and a hair spray, and a shampoo which as stated was from Dep Corportion which at that time it was really a great product to use as it had a really nice masculine scent to it. I always wanted the cream, however never was able to get it. Used the styling Gel, blue in color and that stuff worked perfect! Sadly, it's no longer produced.

Sir, I found this exact can of hairspray at walmart today. Made in USA version. They had many of them sir. However the Non aerosol pump hairspray version is no where to be found.

It’s a great hairspray. I’ve used it for years. It’s sometimes hard to find at local stores though.

I’ve used it for 20+ years. Best thing about it was the non scent. Even going on it was odor free. No issues at all. Now it’s like any other spray. Odor is present when spraying it on and if I sweat I smell it or the sweat and oils from my skin get in my eyes it burns. Nothing special about this hairspray anymore. I don’t have to hunt it down any more. I’m off in search of a new spray.

Let me add my voice to the chorus of complaints about the current incarnation of "Consort." As you mention in your review, it's now made in India and has at least 3 fatal flaws: 1) Whatever propellant they now use, it is significantly more powerful than the one used in the previous American-made version, 2) It is definitely not unscented! In fact, the odor actually stinks, and 3) It's akin to spraying lacquer on one's hair. I used Consort for years - not anymore.

I agree with your review on all three points. Sprays much faster, stinks, and due to the course spray is like spraying lacquer on your hair. Really sorry that i't been ruined as I've been using it for many many years. Now I need to find a replacement for Consort.

When it was made in the USA it was great. Not that it's made in India it STINKS really bad. Still holds good but can't stand the smell. The stink really is bad when your hair gets wet such as showering or if you're sweating.
