It might be helpful to the audience to have a segment explaining why specific cars were chosen to be purchased for testing, especially when they approach $100,000 and are extremely unlikely to be purchased by the readers of the magazine.

All Land Rover models should be considered "LeaseMobiles" for well-heeled folks. Once the warranty is over, you can rename that SUV a Range Rover Wallet Drainer Sport! 😊

One thing of concerned here is reliability. For me, all of nit-picking they said, I'm okay with all of it. Lover of this car will love it no matter what, who's not will have an excuse to avoid it eventually.

The same amount for the Land Rover, I can get a decent SUV and a truck! Both can be new or used, depending on what's available. Why would I want to pay tons of money to get something so unreliable?

Probably not in same category, but I'd take the MDX over this every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Beautiful design, but I still can fathom how JLR hasn't begun a Manhattan Project internally to overcome their reliability and quality control issues. As someone who actually would take their SUV off the paved roads, there is no way I'd risk getting this, a BMW, Audi or Porsche getting beaten up. However, the new grand Cherokee looks like it's made for it, has a 4xe version to reduce overall gas usage, and can be found discounted by Jeep and federally.

Oh for cryin' out loud!! 22" wheels? I hope the wheel bearings are up to the challenge! Why not just skip the tires and run steel wheels so you can offer 28" wheels??? That is *SO* impractical for the roads in the U.S.

I don't see how it doesn't look like every other SUV out there? To me, the Range Rover looks like my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee (at three times the original price). You have to REALLY be into cars to think this is anything other than same old/same old. Mike is right - it's about the badge.

It’s a beautiful SUV but unreliable and expensive.

1) I thought its not a SUV. Isn't it car base chassis? 2) As for unreliable I guess it got better adding turbo charge + super charge + mild hybrid to it complication. Anyways I think reliability is not their business model. I think LR want customers to change vehicles frequently so short life span and with in the shorter life span when they break giving a good loaner vehicle with good customer treatment still keep customers happy. I think when things go bad buying back under lemon law is nothing big for them. 3) I think expensive is for a reason to keep the customer happy because of above points mentioned, imo.

If you want a Land Rover as a daily driver, buy 2.

$92K? I'd have to be able to live in it! The reliability would keep me away as well, but if I won it or was given to me, I WOULD NOT keep because of the controls!

Isn't that sporty SUV concept a bit of an oxymoron? Why do you need to be sporty going to Walmart and dropping the kids off at school? You want a sports car, buy one.

Drive a Porsche Cayenne SUV and see if your oxymoron view holds up. It's a vehicle with multiple personalities - Jekyll and Hyde. Our 2022 Cayenne's precise, balanced handling and zoomy performance makes even short drives on city streets a joy. It rides like a quiet limousine when its air suspension is in Normal mode and is hilariously fun on curvy back roads when in Sport or Sport Plus mode. It's practical. There's plenty of room in the cargo area for my wife's wheelchair. My bike rack plugs into the Cayenne's hitch receiver. I'd love to have a 2-seat sports car but we don't have room for a limited purpose vehicle.

IMO, the SUV to get for the best combination of luxury, power, capability, efficiency, features, and prestige, is the new BMW X5 50e.

Why waste money buying and testing a vehicle that few people can afford and even fewer would be foolish enough to buy. For the same price, you could test several affordable and more popular vehicles. That is not to say that you should never test an expensive vehicle. If you can find one that is well designed, performs well and is reliable, testing it could serve as a standard for comparison. But Land Rovers are notoriously unreliable, so why test them? In the past, CR always told readers to buy the least expensive item that met their needs and that additional features often led to less reliability. Now you seem to test expensive items (not just cars) with lots of features that few people need. That is why I no longer subscribe.
