Nicely done with the contrast paints. I’m surprised how well the contrast black worked on the armor.

Without spraying them black it’s the quickest way to get the smoothest coat! Contrast Paints were a godsend for me particularly with how much black armour I have to paint!
@marcozanobini83074 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I was waiting this tutorial! This is a nice contrast method for speed up the painting progress and now I understand how you can achieve that speed performance: one single highlight on armor. At the moment instead of your single Dawnstone, I'm using three highlight color as Dark Reaper, Thunderhawke Blue and Fenrisian Grey but is much loooonger process
@Warhipster4 жыл бұрын
That’s how I used to do it! And to be fair with these Sisters you could take it one step further and a an Administratum Grey Spot Highlight, however there’s enough details to draw the eye on them that it’s not vital to life, unlike say a Space Marine.

Why the basilicanum grey under the black templar? Just to darken it down?

When do you do the hair? Is it just grey primer with a wash?
@Warhipster2 жыл бұрын
In the sections where I use Apothecary White and Ulthuan Grey that's the time to do those things to the hair as well!

Great tutorial! I'm new to Warhammer and have chosen Adepta Sororitas for my first army, but have been looking for the best method to get them done quick and still look fantastic. Looks like Contrast paints are the way to go! I'd like to work in some light pinkish tones for the cheeks and lips to bump the femininity but I'll certainly be using this video as my guide.
@Warhipster4 жыл бұрын
Awesome stuff! To add that pinkness I’d recommend using some super thinned down Volupus Pink maybe like 5/4:1 of Contrast Medium to the Volupus but it’s something I’ve experimented with and definitely does work!

Hi, thank you very much for this tuto, love it. If you remember, for the hair you just put apothecary white on the white, nothing else? thx!

Love this Tutorial. Was struggling to get my Sisters to look this clean. Copying this has made the black armor look 100% better. Now just to figure out how to get the same results as your red but with my Favorite Talassar Blue. Maybe Ultramarine blue for the Fleashtearer parts?
@Warhipster4 жыл бұрын
That is exactly what I would do yes! Ultramarines Blue and Talassar Blue together makes an absolutely gorgeous colour! I believe I did something similar on my Larissa Shadowstalker tutorial.

Would nuln oil be a good alternative to black templar? Our LGS doesnt have black templar in stock
@Warhipster3 жыл бұрын
You could use Nuln Oil, but you'd likely find that it's a bit 'flatter' than the Black Templar due to the paints having different compositions. I'd say it's worth a shot though!

If I may, and I know this is an older video, but I think the leather and power armor should be highlighted differently as they are different materials. In all the box art, Our Martyred Lady have blue-black armor, so highlights along the lines of Thunderhawk Blue, Fenrisian Grey etc. Then the corset and gloves would follow the brown/grey highlights like the Dawnstone you've used here. The paint didn't exist at the time you made this but Sigvald Burgundy is a great match for the interior of the robes.

Love this, quick question though. How similar is Blood Angels red to Mephiston red? I already have a unit of Sisters I've painted with Mephiston but wanting to give Blood Angels red a go on future models. :)
@Warhipster3 жыл бұрын
I painted half of my Blood Angels army the classic way working up from Mephiston Red and half of it using Blood Angels Red and it all gels wonderfully, so I reckon you'll be reet.

Hey thx for the video! I'm new in painting so i need to ask - what does that 6:1 contrast medium:flesh tearers red mean exactly? I couldnt really understand that part 😶. Your video really helps me to get my first army done 😊.

Rather than rush to get Basilicanum Grey, do you think an initial coat of 1:1 contrast medium and Black Templar, then a full coat of BT would work the same over the Grey Seer? Love your tutorials btw, awesome what you can get from contrast. My life hack is Snakebite Leather over Retributor Armor for a very aged burnished Gold ;)
@Warhipster3 жыл бұрын
I shall have to try Snakebite over Retributor now! I reckon you could give it a shot with the black. The reason I do the Basilicanum Grey first is twofold - to deepen the black and to provide a ‘pre-highlight’ where the Black Templar sort of pulls away from the edge. I reckon it’s definitely worth trying using a thinned cost of Black Templar if you’ve not got Basilicanum Grey.

@@Warhipster Appreciate your reply :) Your channel is kind of my new 40k watching binge :D I will let you know how the thin coat goes, i have a few test pieces i can work on. Interested to see how you go with the Snakebite over Retributor.

I have always thought that contrast paints were created for speed painting. Aka 3 base colors + 1 contrast = affordable result.

So no reference to the use of a palette? You must have used something because you said you thinned paints down a couple of times. As for the paint job, I saw the same model painted by someone else using a different colour selection and it looked just as good. You basically demonstrated that colour selection is less important than how it is used to get a good job.
