I've got to be Honest here...I've watched you now for a few months. Some of things you build are ok. I mean you looked at something else and rebuilt it and/or copied it. You've grown your channel, which isn't an easy feat and have shown that you sell things on Etsy. Soo..to that matter, I give you credit. However...On the downside...and not specifically trying to be "your" local Troll here....But your methods of Woodcraft and end result vs. what you charge is just ridiculous. That being said...You have indeed proven the point that there's a sucker out there that'll pay...and apparently, there's LOTS of them. This particular build isn't worth anything more than maybe $25 bucks. Have or did you even consider the science of prolonged exposure of electronics to magnets (keys, alarm and unlock modules on keys) will wipe out the data stored on them? Setting your wallet near a magnet...there goes your data. By hanging your keys with a magnet, you have now magnetized the key ring, in effect, creating a magnetic field on the ring...and, what it attached to the key ring? Ahhh, your keys. Are they metal as well? What's next to them, ahh your ELECTRONIC door button which has a circuit board. It may not happen overnight...but, eventually it will. And what is it that you built. It's specifically a key holder....so, will the customer who buys this use this day in, day out? Yeap. Did you give mention to this at all in your video? Nope. Will you disclose this "Science" on your Etsy page stating...."Use of this Key holder can possibly erase the data on your cars unlock/alarm module as well as potentially erase the data of your bank cards and credit cards if you place your wallet ontop? I've looked up this information prior to typing this comment. The Data is accurate. And God forbid that customer decides to place their phone ontop of this shelf. Did you disclose THAT information? You're making money. That I have no doubt. But the way you're going about doing it and producing "crap" sold at a high dollar....Well Sir. You give the rest of the community of "Skilled" Craftsmanship a bad name. Just like your flawed wine bottle holders. Your products you sell and "teach" (I'm using that word loosely) to build...Well Sir...are despicable to say the least. You are basically teaching people that "crap" sells. Is that REALLY the message you want to convey? You've got your status on YT. Young people and even older people, all new to this craft, your are teaching very POOR habits both in Craftsmanship and in Integrity. I won't even get started on ALL the things you did wrong on that Chessboard. You remodel and build homes??? Really? Honestly, seeing you work on these videos, it makes me question the integrity of that business. What shortcuts do you do there too? 😮😮😮😊

@Bearded-Viking-WoodWorks 7 ай бұрын
Well Mike , Mike , Mike …. Well you sir don’t understand the cost of the figured claro walnut , you are entitled to your opinion but to say I give woodworkers a bad name is absolutely absurd. As far as the phone issue , the magnets are a one sided magnet and clearly stated that they are “rare earth magnets “ which most newer phones literally have rare earth magnets in the freakin speaker and magnets in the wireless charging . As far as key fobs it would have to be an EXTREMELY STRONG MAGNET 🧲! And you would litterally have to hold it and run it back and forth across the fob to even dream of getting any damage to the memory board . We no longer live in a world with floppy disks and data being stored on magnetic “dots “ on disks , today most data is stored as voltage . Or as physical holes , Theoretically a powerful rare earth magnet could induce current flow in the circuit board, but it would have to be really strong and you'd have to be rubbing it back and forth in just the right way. Note that radio waves do affect them somewhat. So if placed near a device creating electric noise - radio, fluorescent lamps, computer, the key fob will try to answer which will drain the battery over time. But not damage the circuitry. You'd have to microwave it to do that.You my dear friend are absolutely 100 % unhinged and uneducated on this topic . ! , and according to the manufacturer are far from causing any potential harm to devices according to the manufacturers specifications directions and recommendations, so you sir are again incorrect , as far as pricing , who decides what costs what good sir ) ? I hope it isn’t you , I have over head , my hourly time , I have to purchase the expensive ass material ( im not sure when the last time you purchased exotic lumber or highly figured lumber online ) so there is the outrageously expensive wood plus the shipping of that said wood to my shop which isn’t cheap either as wood tends to weigh a good amount , so I could carry on trying to justify myself but why bother , you’re obviously butt hurt about something , but big fella , my woodworking reviews say what need to be said , on my Etsy , and as far as questioning my integrity of my business of building custom homes , you just sound like a complete idiot , but this is America and you’re entitled to say what you will and I respect that , I even respect honest criticism however that being said , you have now crossed the line of giving some honest criticism to just out right disrespectful, you don’t know me , and I would love to hear what problem you had with my chess board ,. Maybe instead of being an asshole and making some lame ass smart ass remark you can give some criticism, but I don’t feel your comment is at all honest , I just think you are a hateful person , I mentioned in the beginning of the chess video that this is the first chess board I had built , so the criticism would have been welcome but your hatefulness is much louder than any of your opinions you wrote in the above comment , as far as my skill , brother , have you even seen what I make , ( these videos are simply entertainment w sharing a little bit of knowledge I’ve learned from selling online , you don’t have to watch my content , we’ll all that being said , I hope 2024 brings you and your family abundant blessings , God bless and thanks for sharing feedback even if it was hateful . You’re comment is 100% unhinged

Viking, your videos are entertaining, thought provoking and keep giving me ideas that I can utilize in my shop. Please continue with your videos if you have the energy. Negative people are just that…negative. We still live in a free North America and we can watch what we want and pass by material that we don’t want to watch. Just like we can ignore negativity or feed into it. KZbin channels that have millions of followers don’t even read their comments. You do you Daniel, folks that appreciate your content will stay and enjoy, those that don’t will swipe right. I commend you that you share your projects on the web. Keep the saw dust flying brother. I wonder how it would look if the copper inlay spanned both pieces of wood in front of the dowels. Maybe I'll include that if I decide to make this piece. Definitely a great use of whatever scraps one might have around the shop. I don't think it would be a good idea to use gloves on the belt sander when your fingers are that close to the moving belt. I understand the reasoning; keeping the belt from giving you a manicure. But there could be trouble if the gloves got caught in the belt.

Hey Daniel, my full time job is in retail ..and man do I hear some dumba$$ comments and questions. This dudes comment made me feel like my own brain "lost data" just by taking the time to read this novel of a comment he left on your video. Some people have wayyyy to much time on there hands , and that was probably one of the most self centered narcissistic comments ive ever read. Everyone is entitled to there opinion , but no one is entitled to be an a$$hole to someone . Im sure he makes comment's like that all over youtube, makes him feel better about himself. Thats not a rockstar , thats an idiot and a bully. Ive only been woodworking for about half a year and i absolutely love it. My goal is to hopefully have it replace my full time job. That's proper nice project there Daniel. Love it. A may give making one them shot. Have some rough elm and sycamore contrast like the walnut and birch. Ps love birchwood. Under appreciated. Dont think id get much more than £25-£30($45-50) here for it but will give it shot. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿👍

Hey Daniel when you use a french clete doesn't the thickness of the board you attach to the wall push the shelf away from the wall? Don't tou need to attach a board of similar thickness to the bottom of the shelf?
@Bearded-Viking-WoodWorks
@Bearded-Viking-WoodWorks 7 ай бұрын
Only if the shelf is much taller , as you can see in the video I show how I hung the shelf using just that cleat. It’s flush as shown in video , you’re not wrong though , if my shelf was anything other than the design i made it than yes , I’d install another cleat at the bottom or just a matching thickness block to the bottom

Serious question - do you think the magnets would be as effective if they were put into the back of the dark piece instead of the bottom? The magnets are hidden either way, but the keys could be a little more out of sight.

Bear! What a name for a cat! I bet nobody have ever heard my cats names before: Vuuugi, Bid/Bidsen, Micro Lissen, Krokis… and now for the weirdest name, Trekantede Kattekilling (translation: Triangular Kitten) Hahaha OMG😂 (6:20) I don’t think I should comment on that. You know, when you take a non-transparent container with liquid in it and expect it to be filled, you grip it firmly and lift it but soon realize that the liquid is flying around you because you used too much force to lift a half filled container (I do it often with milk). For you it’s just reversed. Too much “weight” and too little force. The piece was heavier than expected. Haha I guess many people can relate to either of those 😂(10:28) Teriyaki geese this time for Easter diner? 😂 (11:22) Overall a fun video to watch. Nice gun-shaped shelf/key hanger. That walnut is just a dream for me to get my hands on👍 I like that copper detail completing the different woods. Thanks for sharing and good work as always 🙂

You should "implement" a new verb into your vocabulary. Maybe "incorporate" would work better or just keep it simple and say you're going to "use" this piece of wood in the project. Also, people putting things in their carts is no indication they will buy. It's just a lazy way for people to keep track of things they see on Etsy while they look for alternatives or a better price.
