The mother needed to apologize to the Samantha family, whether or not she believed her son did it! It’s pretty obvious he was guilty since day one. Like the judge said, all the evidence started and ended with him. Guilty as charged. Hope he rots in prison never to be led out into society. He’s as evil, as can be. My condolences to the Josephson family and may Samantha RIP. 💔🙏🏽

She couldn’t accept the verdict based on what she knew about him. They don’t sentence too many people on death row. Only reason Dylann Roof got one is bc he killed a government employee and then fled the state and came into NC. Otherwise he would have gotten life sentences too.

I'm from SC, & a retired Municipal Court Judge (I just heard small cases, anything from speeding, to DUI, to Assault & Battery). Normally, I find little that makes me proud of this State, but this Judge put a smile on my face. I'm terminally ill so I didn't see the entire trial. Did the family request the death penalty? If they didn't, that may be the reason for the sentence. Plus, this Judge knows that the defendant will suffer more by being put in with the general population than he would sitting on death row.

I have never watched a trial in the South. It was great seeing so many competent black legal professionals! I said that they should show the video of the judge pronouncing the sentence to law students. He explained the reasons for how the guilty verdict was accurate due to the "avalanche" of evidence, admonishing Rowland's mother when she claimed her son was innocent and saying the path that Nathaniel should have taken in life and how wonderful the victim was. The fact that his daughter sits in that very chair, so wise and caring, shows a very special man.

@@mydogsioux but that’s the issue.. I have seen people who I would say have those characteristics, and they still haven’t done anything like this. I’ve known people who walk in on their spouse literally and physically engaging in adultery, and even they haven’t done this. That pain and betrayal I imagine, is unbearable. But here we have none of that. What he did.. was pure rage. There was barely a teaspoon of blood left in her.. All of this for… what? Why?

@@justinperry13 I think it’s a compulsion either to control or to exert pain to satisfy their own twisted desires. Often you find violent porn and snuff movies in the history of people like him, although I saw no evidence of that in this case. He may have had a clean record up to this point, but maybe he just didn’t get caught for previous crimes? I’m sure they must have run his DNA through codis to check.

@@Truth1561 Agreed. I think you are correct, there is no way that this was his first time behaving like this. It may be his first murder, or the first time he was caught, but I can’t imagine that he never showed signs of this before. This was an impulsive act. It’s hard for me to believe anyone would be stupid enough to plan an attack like this, then execute it with their own vehicle, and in the few view of cameras / witnesses. Then, to bring her remains to a location that links to him? Helen Keller could have tried this case and won. What he perceived as a Drunk girl coming mistakenly into his car alone & at night.. I imagine A great deal of men would consider that a fantasy come true, or a porn plot in real life. That’s why this is so bizarre to me. With a scenario such as this, involving a man such as he is… forgive me for saying this, but I would have expected some form of a sexual attack. I just don’t understand. I have a list of the people I feel are the worst human beings ever to walk the planet. Obvious choices like Hitler, bin Laden, anyone one who rapes / kills children, & any mass shooter for example. Concerning the U.S.A & all these court cases I’ve watched recently, the worst of the worst I have ever seen would be Timothy Jones Jr., Joel Guy Jr., Chris Watts, Grant Amato, Stephen McDaniel, John Jonchuck jr. Joesph Mcalpin, Larry Nasar, and now Nathaniel Rowland. Wish I could see when it actually hits him. Life is a long time.

I hope there's no uproar in the street because he didn't get the death penalty and only got one life period is going to be a lot of people that are not going to like the answer in Columbia. Y'all need to get out there to your legislators and demand this verdict be overturned and he get the death penalty there's no point keeping him alive he serves no purpose there is no Rehabilitation Center why use taxpayers money to keep him a liar. Is that fair

This judge is definitely the epitome of what a fair and powerful court judge should be! 120 stabs!!?? I think that alone should have justified the refusal of allowing the defendant any speaking privileges at the sentencing. That is evil personified! May God bless that victim’s family and the judge and have mercy on the souls of the perpetrator and his family/supporters.
