The mother needed to apologize to the Samantha family, whether or not she believed her son did it! It’s pretty obvious he was guilty since day one. Like the judge said, all the evidence started and ended with him. Guilty as charged. Hope he rots in prison never to be led out into society. He’s as evil, as can be. Rashad Perry Why do you say his mum is crazy? She was a mother in distress and in disbelief that a child she brought into the world could commit such a heinous crime. She couldn’t accept the verdict based on what she knew about him. According to his lawyers, he didn’t have a criminal record, so of course his act of violence must have been a total shock to anyone who knew him well.

I'm from SC, & a retired Municipal Court Judge (I just heard small cases, anything from speeding, to DUI, to Assault & Battery). Normally, I find little that makes me proud of this State, but this Judge put a smile on my face. I'm terminally ill so I didn't see the entire trial. Did the family request the death penalty? If they didn't, that may be the reason for the sentence. Plus, this Judge knows that the defendant will suffer more by being put in with the general population than he would sitting on death row.

I have never watched a trial in the South. It was great seeing so many competent black legal professionals! I said that they should show the video of the judge pronouncing the sentence to law students. He explained the reasons for how the guilty verdict was accurate due to the "avalanche" of evidence, admonishing Rowland's mother when she claimed her son was innocent and saying the path that Nathaniel should have taken in life and how wonderful the victim was. The fact that his daughter sits in that very chair, so wise and caring, shows a very special man.

I am very impressed with this Judge. He said what most are thinking, short and sweet. I'm sure the victim's family appreciated him recognize her importance directly to her murderer even if it fell on deaf ears. Often you find violent porn and snuff movies in the history of people like him, although I saw no evidence of that in this case. It may be his first murder, or the first time he was caught, but I can’t imagine that he never showed signs of this before. This was an impulsive act. It’s hard for me to believe anyone would be stupid enough to plan an attack like this, then execute it with their own vehicle, and in the few view of cameras / witnesses. Then, to bring her remains to a location that links to him? Helen Keller could have tried this case and won. What he perceived as a Drunk girl coming mistakenly into his car alone & at night.. I imagine A great deal of men would consider that a fantasy come true, or a porn plot in real life. That’s why this is so bizarre to me. With a scenario such as this, involving a man such as he is… forgive me for saying this, but I would have expected some form of a sexual attack. I just don’t understand. I have a list of the people I feel are the worst human beings ever to walk the planet. Obvious choices like Hitler, bin Laden, anyone one who rapes / kills children, & any mass shooter for example. Concerning the U.S.A & all these court cases I’ve watched recently, the worst of the worst I have ever seen would be Timothy Jones Jr., Joel Guy Jr., Chris Watts, Grant Amato, Stephen McDaniel, John Jonchuck jr.
