Yes the roaster is used exactly a crockpot. Leave it running overnight is fine. Have done it many times. Just have it placed where little hands won’t/can’t pull it on them. As you well know little hands like to explore. Love you & kiddos. 😊. I missed you soooo much!!!!! Thank you for coming back!!!!!

Bri, you are doing a great job raising your wonderful children, teaching how to manage life and pivot when necessary. I love that you encourage the children to do things at a very young age. I'm 75 yrs old, and our generation and older were expected to cook, clean, garden, etc as early as possible. I know there are times being without your partner can be difficult, even overwhelming, but you are a pure success. I love that you have a community of dear friends who love and support you. Having that support is magnificent and shows how very successful you are. Ignore any negativity coming your way. There are 4 times as many people out there cheering you on than the very few who want to criticize. Thanks so much for helping the young women (and men) learn how to pivot when things take a turn away from the original plan. That's the secret of success. You are about the age of my children and it makes me so happy to be able to be part of your journey. My children and grands live far away, but we connect through technology. Heavenly Father loves you and is right beside you inspiring you as you go. Hugs from a grandma who loves to see the younger generations know how to do things from scratch. ❤

I'm 67 and I was expected to cook the evening meals from 11 years old till I got a job at 16. My friends did, too. Our brothers could play outside..which I didn't think was fair, so glad to see your boys helping or at least interested in helping...such a delight to see! My 2 boys were expected to help me since I was a single mom with 4 kids!! This past Easter, all 4 of them offered to help and they are in their 30s and 40s. I really didn't have to do much at all!! Proud of how your are raising your children!

@donnamccay1160 I also was left to raise 4 children alone. I made sure my boys could cook as well as the girls. Everyone did laundry and everyone learned basic maintenance of their vehicle. I believe each needed to be able to care for their self and then can reach out to help others. You did a good job.

I love your comments about making things from scratch totally, or partially. We are all in different circumstances or places in our lives. When my children were little I made everything myself that I knew how to make. We had an apricot tree and every year I made jam and canned apricots. And cooked from our back yard garden. Now it’s just my husband and me. No tree or garden. Our needs are different and our energy level is different. You do what you can and “choose your battles”. What you said about letting things steal your joy is exactly right. To criticize someone or even to feel guilty about what you can’t do, is to make them or yourself think they have no blessings, which is a terrible lie. Joy comes from counting your blessings and doing your best with what you have. It’s amazing you and the kids all work together to feed the family, and they will have wonderful memories of that. As well as knowing how to do it. God bless you!

You and the kids are doing a great job. We on youtube are merely trying to inspire others to do different things. Some of the viewers, however, think that we are superwomen and need to do everything from "scratch"!. No, if from scratch is out of your reach then so be it. Don't give yourself more stress neither don't apologise for the way you are trying to make your life more simple.

I love watching all of your freezer meal/bulk prep days!! I'm cooking for just the 2 of us mostly but i doubled a recipe and froze it because of these videos! So thank you!! As a restaurant chef, a quick tip for cooling down the pasta: ice and cold water. Helps cool them down and stop the cooking process. You could skip the step of all the towel/counter space. Another pot would be a good vessel or if you purchase another large colander, you can do it right in the sink.

Bri, I am so impressed with the 16 lasagna/casserole that you made in one afternoon/evening. I don’t know anybody that does that and you also cleaned up your kitchen at the same time. I think it’s good advice to tell people to clean up as they go so that it’s not so overwhelming. You’re teaching your children great values and just showing them that simple rule. I think often times when you allow your child to play all day in your room and not put anything away throughout the day and then expect them to clean it up just before bedtime, that huge mess is just too much for them to handle. So your example is wonderful. I loved your cooking explanations as you showed us how you did things and why you did it. I love that you allow the children to cook with you. I love that you put the pasta out to drain on the towels and cover it up so it didn’t dry out. I have used those shells before and you were absolutely right about leaving them a Dante, slightly undercooked because otherwise not only do they fall apart when you’re trying to stuff them they will fall apart when you cook them for that additional 15 to 25 minutes. I made them for Easter one year and mine were a little baskets… Same thing you had only with a handle on it and while they were cute and beautiful and unique, I definitely overcooked mine the first time. It was a learning lesson and I never let that happen again. I also loved it that you allow the children to come in and eat the broken pasta shells instead of say no don’t touch you can’t have it I’m going to use it, which is what my mother would’ve done. I do understand why she was that way because they were 12 children plush often times we had anywhere from 4 to 10 more children at our table because cousins and hired hands children would be and our meals during the summertime. Nonetheless, you have a large family and you are teaching your children so many wonderful loving values and I think you’re MARVELOUS Bri❣️

If you leave the lid on the pot, the contained pressure is enough that you can turn the burner down and it will still simmer. On my stove, it's just above "low". That way you're using less gas/electricity. Unless you're using the stove to add humidity / heat to the house, also. Rinsing the pasta in cold / ice water will help reduce the sticking.
