The only place I can buy worms is 40 minutes in the opposite direction from where I fish which has caused me to try everything I can think of from the supermarket. At the moment, I have frozen supplies of small whole smelts, uncooked shrimp and raw chicken hearts. My fishing is entirely in a nearby inland stream and I cannot say definitively which of the baits work the best. What I can say however is that I seem to be catching more catfish than I ever have before.
