I'm an older woman. One of my observations about homekeeping is this: If a woman gardens, cooks, cans, and cleans, a gym membership is unnecessary. Instead, she needs a good stretch, a massage, and hugs and kisses! Thank you for your top notch teaching and inspiration, Ruth Ann ❤

I really enjoy how you incorporate clips from previous videos into the current one because it makes each story complete. For example, you show the boys milking the cow to demonstrate where the milk comes from for the cheese. Or you show snippets of the tomato harvest for the sauce you will use in the lasagne. As always…fantastic videos from you. You are the real thing, ma’am! God bless you and your beautiful family.

@ I’m so excited to try your cheese recipes and hope they will turn out okay using pasteurized milk, as I don’t have access to any beautiful raw milk. You mentioned about letting the ricotta drain hard and slicing it. That has really motivated me because I think it may possibly be what the ladies in our community made when I was a child. Except they called it cheese spread. At least, I’m hoping it’s the same thing. I never got to watch them make it, so I didn’t learn that one. I do remember that it was always in loaf pans, though, and that it had been baked so that the top and sides were crispy and browned. Once cooled, they would slice it and put it on a grilled cheese sandwich. Yum!

I love watching your videos. Fellow Iowan here. Been canning and keeping a well stocked pantry for years. You know your raising your kids right when they tell you, “Mom, you have too many empty jars, you need to fill them back up.”. I’ve been using my canned goods a lot and am thankful I had them to use. My husband is recovering from open heart surgery and being able to pull things off my shelves to cook instead of having to rely on running to the store. Keep up the great ideas for your audience.

Ms. Ruth Ann, thank you for sharing your cheese making methods. I will try to make both cheeses. I grew up in a family that never learned to make homemade breads, baking goods, canning, etc. They totally depended on getting all the food (vegetables, fruits, cheeses, etc.) from the supermarket. I taught myself to bake, sew, embroider, canning, gardening, etc. Love your channel. It helps me learn more and improve my skills.

Hi from next door in Idaho! Your problem with sourdough might have had to do with the actual starter you used. I got some starter from a lady who had gotten it in Italy and it was very old. I had great success right off the bat. You might try again and get a better starter from another source.
