If I hear one more person discount the role of the mother in the home, I am going to pull my hair out! RuthAnn! You do not have a part-time job. You have a full-time AND a part-time job. Anyone who has the privilege and is willing to sacrifice for the mother to be at home in the times we live in, all glory be to God! I love your videos sister! Even though you are younger than I am, you have so much wisdom in so many areas and I just love the heart that you have for the Lord and your family. I love that you are a woman of strength willing to stand for truth in a graceful way as an example to all other sisters. Thank you for living Titus 2 before us. I totally agree. Staying at home with kid's & everything having to do with home & kid's is a lot of work. I had some woman argue (she was trying) with me (& a lot of other's) saying how kid's were a burden, being a stay at home mom & being married was being a servant, as in slave. Sadly she was married & had kid's. RuthAnn has 2 full-time job's (or more with all that she does), my 2nd oldest has started doing video's & it takes a lot of time.

I wish more parents realized that if there was a homemaker in the home making food from scratch and tending household chores they would be financially, emotionally and health wise better off !!! When considering the cost of having an outside job, the cost of processed package food, the health aspect, daycare and added stress, they would be all around better off with a parent at home doing this work ! You are a true mentor and example of being a homemaker and mom !!! Blessings Blessings

I totally agree lol I'd love to have one . I love recipes that are simple, healthy ,filling and passed down from generations . I'm on a small homestead that's just getting started and im 60 and disabled. I grew up on a farm part of my life but not when I was old enough to remember the details of canning and preservation of the produce my mother grew in the acre size garden she had . I helped with the small animal chores and some of the house work but I was the youngest of 6 and the folders helped with milking and feeding of the larger animals. Now my husband and middle son (34 yrs old) and I are in a way learning to be more self sustaining on 5 acres in south central Iowa. I so enjoy your down to earth personality and dedication to good healthy living. God bless from Anna in Iowa

Dear Ruth Ann, I understand being raised to cook with your mother and grandmother, cooking is now natural to you. I was not taught to cook when young. Raising children, I bought cheap, possessed food. Fast forward, the children are grown, lockdown happened, food shortages and uncertain future. I am learning to grow food, raise chickens, preserve food and cook from scratch. God is so good. Your videos are help ing me make transactions that are manageable. This is truly a blessing. I hope God blesses you as well. I wanted you to know, so many are grateful for your sacrifice of time to share your wisdom with us! Side note.... Could you consider a general cook book for beginners? I don't have a printer and hand writing all of these great recipes is getting a little rough. I you do write one please leave room for notes since we are learning to adjust recipes to fit our different families. Thank you so much! Hugs Mama Henry 😇

Being able to heat up leftovers would be extremely helpful. Most public schools don't offer that option. When my children were in the same building as me I gave them the option since we had a microwave in our classroom. I tried thermoses which kept food warm but, not hot. They still prefer the cold lunches I pack over the lunches offered. The school lunch programs everywhere leave much to be desired.

Hello again Ruthann, I am watching your video on tv about childhood chores. I’ve seen it several times and am more impressed every time I see it. I know that our country would be total opposite of the way it is currently. If we were to have you give lessons to every new parent, the kids would grow up with a set of morals as opposed to all the crime that is going on these days. I was stern with my children and tried to teach them to respect others and not let them run the show! Nowadays, the kids are not obeying the parents. The government is allowing these things to happen when they let criminals out of prison to make room for a traffic violation or being caught smoking pot. You and Harrison have a connection that I long for. I am old enough to be your mum and I would be so impressed to have grandchildren like your kids. We also need to take the government out of our family life and rules. California just set laws that a child as young as 12, can decide to have a sex change and the parents will have no way to tell these children “NO”. The state will pay to have this child make life threatening decisions when they couldn’t even make a piece of toast! I’m sorry to rant but when I see how successful you are as a wife, mother, homemaker, cook, cheese maker, and have the ability to do anything you put your mind to do! And that’s another issue! The woman that told you that you sound so uneducated! I can’t believe that people think it’s ok to hurt a person like it did me, I had a phrase for the woman. Who taught her to be so RUDE? If you don’t like something about me, turn the channel! I have been praying that she changes her attitude because what goes around cones around. I hope that your mother and grandmother are as proud of you as I am! And obviously, I am a stranger to you. I have more respect for you than most people I know. I think you should think about becoming President of The United States! Sometimes it needs to get a start over and get rid of the lifetime politicians and put someone in office like you! A person with Morals and has a strong belief in our Savior, Jesus Christ. He is the one that is not heard in Washington D.C. If God was once again allowed to flourish as he did when He walked on Earth, we would be so much better off. Thank you Ruthann, I appreciate and love you for all that you are! Jilli

They don't have the luxury of being able to use a microwave either. We have come up with using a thermos which we put boiling water in and let sit for at least 20 minutes dump and add whatever heated food shes having to it. So far it has worked well.

It’s very important for us oldies to eat nutritious foods. Love seeing you hang clothes on the line just like my dear mom. We were a family of 7 kids and no running water so life was a lot of more work . I thank God for my loving family and the simple way we lived . She canned 800 quarts and we had a huge potato bin in the cellar where the food was stored. A big trapdoor in the porch opened to stairs leading down to the cellar. Mom also baked her own bread every week .The smell of those cinnamon buns fresh out of the oven when we came home from school Friday was marvellous! Yes we got the imperfect ones still warm…yum !

But, now we eat so much better and I do what you do on a MUCH smaller scale. When my grandkids come along, I will enjoy giving them nutritious meals. When you said ‘flavor enhancers’ in food-you hit the nail on the head with much of what is wrong with our food. So many chemicals and preservatives. These flavor enhancers, in my belief, are what causes these food addictions. I absolutely love all you do. I’m 54 but am only 4 years into a homesteading type lifestyle but I learn so much from you.

We do not have the space to garden as much as I would like, but I always plant tomatoes and peppers in our terraced front area with a sign telling anyone to take what they need or want. I have a tiny library box I keep filled with books from Goodwill and a tiny snack pantry box that has bread, peanut butter, bags of homemade granola, and seasonal fruits for the littles that walk by on their way to school. I put a little note on each book and snack and leave a pencil and pad of sticky note for them to share their thoughts, dreams and wishes.

I’m definitely going to be using your ideas for popcorn and seasoned pretzels for my kids.

Well, Mrs. Zimmerman, I have a couple of tips for you. For the pretzel recipe, first of all, thanks so much for the ranch dressing mix recipe! Love it! It is getting harder to find the Hidden Valley Ranch packages here in Canada. I have what looks like the same recipe for pretzels, ONLY, mine doesn't require baking & I add 2 Tbsp of dried dill. The only difference, I mix mine in my big stock pot because my recipe calls for 800g of pretzels. I mix the oil, dill and dressing powder and pour over the pretzels in my stock pot & stir to coat. Set it a side and come back every 15 min to stir. Do that for 2 hours and your done. I was shocked when the pretzels weren't a soggy mess. I keep mine in the freezer until we need them. The recipe calls for Orville butter topping as the oil, but we can't get that here in Canada, so knowing I can likely use almost any oil is a great tip! Thanks again!

I loved this video! Food allergies and issues here too and these recipes are all easily modified to fit our needs as well. All with ingredients we are likely to have in the pantry as well! And how did I not think of making large batches of popcorn (or those pretzels!) ahead of time even for adult lunches- whether we are at home or going in to work!

I think these snacks are the closest to the store bought food that I have seen.. I should think it would be an easy transition for them. Also I think it was super cut that Little Man giving the Momma the wardrobe once over and showing that the blazer needs to be buttoned. Love that.

The protein bar recipe Is a great idea! I often bake muffins, but my girls only eat them fresh from the oven. I don't "make" their snacks, I give them nuts, dried fruit and fresh fruit. We occasionally have squeezy Apple sauces in the house and then that's what they want.

What you were saying at the end about artificial colors and flavors spoke right to me. I suspect my youngest has ADHD and we have just started trying to make adjustments to what she is eating to see if it helps. She is rarher picky ans my other daughter is allergic to gluten so it feels overwhelming at times, but I'm learning as I go and feel like it will pay off in the end.

Never thought about color and artificial flavoring causing behavior problems. It makes sense. I have tried to stay more natural as I have got older. Probably a little too late but I remember eating well when I was a child. We grew up on a dairy farm. Most food was from our garden and the farm animals. Never went hungry. Thank you. I really enjoy watching you. God bless

Have you ever tried Banana Bite? I love them because it's sweet without feeling guilty. Oh and they freeze amazing. Banana Bite 2 very ripe bananas (about 3/4 - 1 cup), mashed 1 cup oats, rolled or quick (I used GF) 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or anything else, I have made them without. Optional add-ins: 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon 1/2 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1/4 cup shredded coconut 1/4 cup chopped nuts 1/4 cup dried fruit 2 tablespoons nut butter (homemade Almond Butter) INSTRUCTIONS Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, silicone mat, or lightly grease with oil. Mix: In a medium size bowl, mash bananas to a fairly smooth consistency (a few small chunks is ok). Add oats and mix well. Add in chocolate chips, mix again. If the mixture is really wet, add a few tablespoons of oats (see notes). Scoop: Using a 1 tablespoon measuring spoon or trigger scooper, scoop heaping scoops of mixture and place on cookie sheet. Leave in a dome shape or flatten it out a bit with your fingers to make a flatter shape. Depending on the size you scoop, you should get anywhere from 12 - 16 cookies.
