I feel very old or out of touch… Who are they each in their own right? Individual singers that I don’t know, or parts of other bands? Why did they come together?
@gabrielle6438
@gabrielle6438 Жыл бұрын
@@michelehaase5197 They are all indie singers since 2010s. On the left, that's Phoebe Bridgers. She has 2 albums, Stranger in the Alps and Punisher. Middle is Lucy Dacus. She has 3 albums, No Burden, Historian, and Home Video. Right one is Julien Baker. She also has 3 albums. Sprained Ankle, Turn Out The Lights, and Little Oblivions. Correct me if im wrong but i think they knew each other since 2016 and they formed the group in 2018 and released an EP. Then they went hiatus and went on individually on their own again and then released some songs from their individual albums with all three included as vocal back ups. And then just lately, they released The Record. It is absolutely groundbreaking i love them sm i recommend you listen to their individual works.

@@jefftaylor8782 That's wholly unfair and completely inaccurate to boot! I am a self-confessed Julien Baker nut (who regards JB as approaching Joni's level - who incidentally I saw live 40 years ago), but when I saw boygenius in London in August (in my 1,261st gig, just to dispel any accusations of possible musical naievety), I came away also a Lucy Dacus convert!

I think there's symbolism here. Toxic relationships are something we all face individually. But it's also a collective problem and a social problem. We feel alone when we are in these situations. But there are countless other people who have faced something similar. And if we have a conversation about it, it can get better.

The boys seem to have a love of using an omnidirectional mic. They've all used one for various performances & online concerts (like Lucy's Tiny Desk Concert back during the Pandemic lockdown). Did you know the cover of the first boygenius EP (2018) is modeled after the cover of the 1969 self-titled CSN album? The boys are that open about the music that influences them. They also shot their Rolling Stone cover as a tribute to Nirvana. And the record (2023) was almost titled "In Rainbows" (they are Radiohead fans). Three is a magic number.

I love their solo careers, they’re incredible at their own but when they get together something else happens and it’s not just the music ❤️‍🔥 I’m so grateful for boygenius, this band was my introduction to all of them 4 years ago and I honestly thought that we wouldn’t hear from them (as boygenius) again… so I’ll never take for grounded this album

Yes, OMG this is the way this song is meant to be. What a great performance and the show produced it beautifully.

I immediately got a Simon & Garfunkel feel from their performance. Different, for sure, but just a similar feel. They're very good! To be crystal clear, I loved S & G back in the day and miss having that kind of influence in the music industry. I'm glad boygenius has come along.

They credit the Boxer as inspiration for this song in the liner notes, I think

had my own "cool about it" moment in my life today and it's just so insane that these three can encapsulate such a specific emotion so perfectly in the confines of such a short song, truly hits home and I appreciate this song so much for helping me out with such a strange emotion
