If your coolant was so dirty, wouldn't it have been a good idea to flush the system before refilling it?

I would have appreciated if you had included an elapsed time and amount of coolant used. The video was great and helped. The above just a suggestion. Thank you both!

A few unanswered questions here, especially block coolant, not flushed. But Jordan, your reference to dirty coolant, that truck came with Fords gold coolant and that's kinda the color.

Is the 3/8" hose you used on the petcock 3/8" inside diameter hose or is 3/8" the outside diameter of the hose? Thank you for this video!

why mix new coolant with the old left behind inside the block and heater core ?... seems to me this is only a half of the job !...the whole system takes about 20 qts. !

A good flush is to open the fill port on the engine block alot of debris down there that doest come up on that drain by the radiator

What is that sound in start up the rattle some one said they need to open my motor and check maybe timing chain but I traveled to miles and no sign of engine problems only on start up the rattle

Possibly a exhaust manifold leak. It’s almost like a ticking sound. Not a huge issue if that’s the case

My Explorer is due a 6 year coolant change. I do not trust shops on these things for 2 reasons. One, it is so easy to say you did all this stuff if coolant looked new anyway. Had this happen on my 07 Ram and I feel I was scammed. The more I talked with the teck, the more I felt that way. Too old to do the work my self now so I must use a shop. This video did not make me feel any better. Drained the radiator and added some coolant to mix with the dirty stuff in the block. Not sure I feel the chemical flush does any good. May even harm but do believe in the coolant swap. As other suggested, refill and re drain may get some more old fluid out and we need to know the new mix is what is needed for the winter.🦇

I bought a 2008 f150 4.6. The heater does not work on it. The other day it started to overheat. I replaced the thermostat and ran fine for awhile. A few days after it started getting hot again. What should i do?
@1Corinthians15.1-4
@1Corinthians15.1-4 8 ай бұрын
If you're continuing to overheat after replacing the thermostat, then it means you might have a leak somewhere, either externally or internally into the engine. You have to get under the truck to see and check the hoses.

Can I use prestone brand? . It's green color and it says it's compatible with all colors of refrigerant. I have the same truck.

I had a 2000s explorer that used yellow coolant, tried putting some generic green stuff and it caused a ton of problems. Seals went bad and it seemed like it ate part of the hose. No problems at all until I put the other stuff in it. If you do use the other stuff make sure you flush out the system completely.

Ideally you'll want to pull drain plugs and get it all out, you can also actively flush it out or drain and fill a few times to get most of the old stuff out.

I start with a cold engine. Drain the radiator leaving the petcock open and start the engine. When the engine opens the thermostat the block coolant will then come out into radiator. It will be hot and thats when you know the block is empty.As soon as you see the flow slow down shut the engine off so it doesn't run hot.Close petcock and refill.

just remove the thermostat and attach garden hose to upper radiator hose to push through the whole system,,, A big mess though. Leave it to trusted shop if U can find one. It is a fairly time consuming job and without a garage to work in , it’s not so convenient.. AND also, just remove the rad lower hose from the rad itself rather than messing with the fragile plastic petcock. Be prepared for a flood coming out though. Quick. Who’s got time to wait for that small drain thing anyway
@gavintyson3033
@gavintyson3033 2 ай бұрын
Why don’t you feel the radiator up if you drained it. But you only filled the resivor up. The resivor doesn’t hold enough coolant in it to fill the radiator up. And why didn’t you flush the engine of the old coolant as well.

I would just remove the lower rad hose, the petcock thing is plastic and can break or leak after trying to close it, too risky for me, I will go with the hose…

Let's see did I miss something no radiator flush,No running water unto clear ,block is still filled with the old fluid, heater core still with old fluid, Heat wasn't put on to help circulation. Guys your videos influence guys that look for a way to do this kind of stuff if you going do it do it right and not your interpretation of this 1/2 stepping.

They didn't do a full coolant flush. On the 5.4 engine there's still 2-3 gallons in the block and heater core.
