But Bobinsky can't be neither russian, nor ukrainian. He is a pole. And in original novel it wasn't signed his origin, just "he is from East". But, this surname belongs to Poland nationality. It's just a not clever idea to change his origin besides his surname is different.

Coraline is a stop-motion masterpiece! Really interesting fact... Neil Gaiman, who wrote the original book, had the draft be read by his editor's daughter to see whether it was suitable for younger audiences. He was able to have it published on approval. Years later upon having an interview with the editor's daughter, it was revealed she lied to her mother about how it wasn't scary so she could see what happens next. If it wasn't for her, there would never have been a book or a movie!

Fun fact #2: in one room of the Other world, there are three frames on the wall featuring the silhouettes of three children. Anyone who rewatches the movie will recognize that they each match the shape of a ghost child. There's also a theory that the years on the taffy Spink and Forcible offer to Coraline are the years each child's soul was devoured by the Beldam.
@fantasylover4evr371
@fantasylover4evr371 7 ай бұрын
The years on the taffy are too close together for them to represent the years the Beldam took children. The house was built in 1859 (150 years from 2009), so fifty years between each child. "Pioneer girl, Huck Finn Junior, Little Rascals" so 1850s, 1900s, and 1950s
@JoyfulOrb
@JoyfulOrb 10 ай бұрын
Leo, you grasped what this movie was about PERFECTLY! The Beldam preys on children who feel neglected, alone, or unappreciated because they aren't protected by their parents' attention. Children who feel unappreciated and sad are more likely to fall for her world of gifts and wonders, without being cautious. She's called the Beldam (not sure how to spell it) because of paintings and a famous poem, La Belle Dame sans Merci-- The Beautiful Woman Without Mercy, about an inhuman cruel woman who lures men who love her to death. She sounds familiar, right, the Other Mother is beautiful, and gives you whatever you want, all the while stealing your lifeforce. Loved you video!

Fun fact #3: regarding the "welcome home" cake, the loops in the O's are an important detail. The double loop in an O allegedly means the writer is lying, so the Beldam was unconsciously telling Coraline that the Other world isn't home.

There is a theory (idk if true or fake) that states Coraline never escaped, and fell for Beldam's trap. The origin of this theory comes from the last scene, Vermont the cat only has powers in the other world yet he disappeared on the billboard in real life? We also saw Beldam's ability to turn her eyes into human eyes as she wishes, which could be highly credible to make Coraline think she won by just keeping them on. Plus, it is believed that when Coraline threw the key down the well she basically gave it back to the other mother given that it really resembles the door's entrance. As stated, not sure if this theory is accurate but it is fun to think about, and makes the movie a bit more creepy.

And the dull and boring changes. Tomorrow night be worse, or it might be better; but it's _your_ tomorrow and there are things you can do to make it better; just as the parents take steps to make theirs better toward the end. Other's temptation only works so long as you forget that tomorrow won't be the same as today. She offers a perfect "forever" in exchange for your soul. But forever isn't how humans exist. Better to work on the shitty day yourself and than to give up that privilege to the nearest predator.

38:26 there is a reason, why cat disappeared. In original novel cat told, that there were multiple tiny holes to the alternative world, but Other Mother (or Beldame) knew only about one of them and could use only this one. This cat is not so simple, as it looks - it's older creature, than even Other Mother.
@dylancole1910
@dylancole1910 11 ай бұрын
This is just one of those perfect Halloween films that leave you both creeped out and entertained. I never understood the end either, I hear there’s a book this was based on, I don’t know if the cat is a part of the story ( also interesting: I’ve heard that “ Whybie” actually wasn’t in the books at all, that he’s a character specifically added in for the movies. I guess they thought it would add to the story if she wasn’t completely alone. Personally, though I like Whybie, I think her being alone would have made the creep and uneasy factor ten times worse). My theory is that he’s not a cat, he’s some kind of mythical being that can walk between dimensions and just chooses to present himself as a cat. I also have a theory on why he can talk in the other world verses Coraline’s. It’s established that she is a pretty lonely kid. Just moved away from her home and away from her friends, her parents are workaholics who have hardly time to acknowledge her beyond meal times and getting her ready for a new school year. The Belldown probably thought that having another version of her obnoxious new freind, neighbors and a luxurious and exciting home life wasn’t enough. I believe her influence on the world is what allowed the “cat” to talk. If we are running with the theory that he isn’t really a cat, that would explain why the cat isn’t surprised or has any reaction to being able to form words. Also, this witch-like entity of course “ loves games” so she probably wanted the challenge to be about as equal as it was to her winning. The cat is obviously familiar with that world so it makes it way more fun for the Belldown to try and throw hurdles in her way as she tries to find the eyes and set her parents free. I do think that it would be interesting if this ever got a sequel, I love this movie and I watch it often during October and November, the soundtrack and scores are also great background music for a Halloween get together. 😄

@frenkhorsky7633
@frenkhorsky7633 10 ай бұрын
Oh yeah, Wybie was made for the movie so that Coraline didn't have to talk to herself. There are many parts in the book where Coraline is thinking something important and that wasn't an issue because it's a book and you literally read her thoughts but the filmmakers had to find a way to transition it into the movie. So instead of making Coraline talk to herself aloud, they gave her someone to talk to. The Cat however is a real character in the book but he's a lot different. The book cat is extremely egotistical and aloof, only helping Coraline if he happens to be in the area anyway and if helping her doesn't hinder him any. Less of a direct ally and more of a neutral party who knows that helping Coraline will piss off The Beldam. There is no explanation for why he can walk into other dimensions or talk besides the fact that he's a cat. He simply can. But hey, cats were seen as guardians of the underworld, so why not?

So, its a major theory that the well is a portal to the other world. Remember Wybie said "it's supposed to be so deep, if you fell to the bottom and looked up you'd see a sky full of stars in the middle of the day." What time of day is it always in the other world, even during the daytime in the real world? Night. So, if the theory has merit, Coraline pretty much gave the key right back to the Beldam.

A lot of people react to her parents neglecting Coraline without seeming to realize that they are in desperate financial straits. That's why they've moved to a rather dumpy apartment in an old house, and why there's very little food and they won't have money until they finish their work. What seems like neglect to children is often their parents working their assess off to try to keep a roof over their head and food on the table, and sometimes that makes them tired, stressed, cranky and yes, a little neglectful of their kids emotional needs

That's interesting, but originally Bobinsky is pole. Because this surname is distinctive for Poland nation. In Russia you will not meet people called "Bobinsky". It's just a very unclever decission of movie makers to change his nation despite his surname. Yes, in original novel it was indicated that "he is from some East country, but nobody knows which one". But this surname really exist and this is common in Poland.

I hope you finish the Scream franchise if you still haven’t seen the rest 🙏🏾. Also if you haven’t seen the blackening I think you would enjoy that since it’s a black horror comedy and you enjoyed scary movie.

My brother and I watched this DVD on his laptop in 3D I think with 3D glasses I'm not sure. It was one of the best movie experiences. I like odd things like 3D, IMAX, 48fps. Stop motion made it cool. Glad you picked this one.

4:46 the problem, that this family is very poor and really needs money. That's why mom and dad so hardworking, they can't even have a rest, even after serious neck injury. It also explains, why this parents so stressful and nervous. Sometimes some serious projects can take a couple of weeks and the faster you complete them - the sooner you get money. If don't - there will be no money for you and your family. And, when you became parent, you feel more responsibility - you have to feed your child, dress him/her etc., it becomes the priority. When you have time - you spend it with your child. When you have deadlines - you can't, because "survival issues" are on the first place here.
