Come see a typical modern horror movie! Spend an hour and a half to see a demon/spirit thing that by all means should be able to kill whoever it wants, and quickly due to it having God-like powers, yet fail at everything aside from startling people while looking spooky; which a million other random things do aswell aside from the looking spooky part... Which leads to the next exhilarating feature of modern horror movies: "Guess the jumpscare!" Is it the antagonist? The protagonist's impetuous friend? A rat? Or maybe even an empty chocolate milk container that fell?? All will have absurd jarring noises to challenge you!

@@Boltscrap This so much. There seems to be no actual limit or explanation for these powers. Whatever "clever" jumpscare the writers come up with goes in the movie, regardless of what the ghost's "theme" is supposed to be. Now I can film my own horror movies! My masterpiece shot on my grandma's old video camera in my parents' basement wouldn't even be different from this. Amazing. Thank you!

Basilio Hernandez if it was executed properly it would’ve been a great movie but they made up their own “la llorna” an it became trash . They didn’t even follow the original legend

"AND SHE WANTS YOUR KIDZZZ" line just got you a sub man. Literally lol'ed hard at that. But overall you do raise some very valid points about horror and just the way JUMP SCARE fests are so the norm. Keep up the awesome work bro.

I haven't seen the movie, but I wanted to comment on this note from the review -- Why isn't the movie set in Mexico? La Llorona, while being a generally Mexican folktale, is actually pretty pervasive throughout the Southwest US because (1) there is significant Mexican influence on the local culture but also (2) the story is often set in that part of the world during a time period where that land was still part of Mexico. To add to that, the story isn't always told with La Llorona as Mexican. I've heard different variations of the story, some which describe her as a Spaniard.

It honestly would have been better if it was a family that went on vacation in Mexico on a resort near a lake and the ghost was stalking them (oooOOooo its the 20th anniversary of La Llorona killings or whatever), then Tuco could have been a native shaman or something that knows english helping them out. Just the setting alone would have made the movie better.

Depends on what state you are the stupid folk tale changes 😂 in CDMX she is a woman who lost her kids, in Gto. She is a bride who drowned them, others she is a widow who killed her husbands sons, in others she is a spaniard woman whose kids were killed by shamans...and all types of shit Not even in Mexico it is 100% decided what the fuck La Caramba is
@decidueyezealot86115 жыл бұрын
It's not about it belongings in Mexico. It's about the fact that this movie would make more sense logically and thematically if it was placed in Mexico. They even have the demon fighting priest leave with an excuse just so that a Mexican shaman can do it. This would also explain why the ghost is there in the first place instead of having us just believe she somehow escaped Mexico.

In Venezuela she hunts cheating men and people lost in the forest, but mostly men. People in small towns believes in her.
