This song is hard for him for other reasons beyond its origins. The late Paul Gray encouraged him to record a version of it with Slipknot, then tragically passed away shortly after... so now the song reminds him of Paul when he songs it even though he is mostly over the original heartache

Corey is one of the very few people that can sing like this and especially with his other band Stone Sour like Through the Glass and Bothe. Then go all out in Slipknot in his mask and not destroy his vocal cords. His thick neck probably helps when he's singing those Slipknot songs.

If you want to see more of Corey singing with a clean voice you should check out Stone Sour. That is another band Corey sang for at the same time as Slipknot. They have broken up now but they had a few great albums.

Corey taylor has one of the best voices, he done a lot of "love songs" in stone sour, (another band he played in under slipknot) Hes voice is so special both growling and "normal" singing

If I remember correctly, this was written about his ex-wife and their divorce. He didn't want to put it out under the Slipknot name cause it was just not something normally Slipknot would put out song wise. But Paul Grey the bassist for Slipknot pushed him to put it out under Slipknot. Then in 2009 Paul passed from an OD and since it's this like double meaning for his ex and Paul.

Actually Slipknot have 3 beatiful songs: Snuff, Vermilion pt. 2 and Circle. With Stone Sour he has more, like Bother (GREAT song, for me the best song of Stone Sour, and it's a video only him like this that you saw of Snuff and it's awesome), Through glass or Imperfect.
