That's BS there were also 7 other teams who also had the extra byes an guess what 4 of those other teams are Coll, Rich, Bris an Carlton an look at there injury list. So having the 2 Byes has nothing to do with it. It's the Luck of the draw when it comes to Injuries plus the teams fitness an medical staff helps also. The Swans have just played awesome an been lucky so far with there injuries. There's still another half a season an finals to go anything can happen. Stop crying an just appreciate the teams an players who are doing well. No team is immune from injuries not even Sydney. I reckon they should get rid of Opening Round but hey that's up to the AFL. Swans not getting Injuries has got nothing to do with the AFL. Maybe the guys getting injured are usually injury prone or that Club an it's fitness staff are doing to much or not enough. @noanykey I'm not saying it's the sole reason, or even the biggest reason. Sydney's training and recovery programs are probably the best in the league, but having 5 games then a bye, then 6 games and then a bye, absolutely is a big factor in not getting major injuries
@PulauSwan4 ай бұрын
Good point about the bye, it's madness but part of the AFL's business/ profit model this year. Regarding Grundy and Darcy Cameron , Nankervis , dodgey knee, Melbourne etc Melbourne possibly have salary cap issues. Swans lost Nankervis after 2016, big mistake, retained Dodgey Knee bigger mistake. Stand corrected here, but from memory DC powdered his nose and had to go. Grundy is the main lynch-pin in this mid-field strength. Don't under estimate his impact. The Hickster had a bung knee for two seasons, Swans are running with a fit, classy ruckman. Talking about umpiring….who knows what the rules are any more? The umpires obviously don’t. They don’t have any idea of distances, throwing the ball and incorrect disposal is an epidemic and holding the ball, what’s that? Players are spun around 3 times before getting penalised or they simply drop it at their feet for no penalty. Players are running too far from kick in and pushing in the back is endemic again! Well done AFL…you’ve completed your goal of absolutely confusing players, umps, fans and coaches….to what the rules are and have screwed the game up completely 🤮
@FootyInMyMouth3 ай бұрын
It's worse than that, you have former players saying well that's a free in the middle of the ground but not in the fwd 50. Or free kicks should not be given at certain times in a match if the match is close. Rules need to be rules, there should be no "sensing the spirit" or well this a free in the back 50 but not in the front 50. How as a referee are you supposed to know when to give a free, or when not to. What we need is; 1. Rules are rules, a 50m penalty is a 50m penalty in the fwd 50 or the def 50. 2. No 'sensing the spirit,' if a free is there then fckn give it. 3. I think we should go to a 30m penalty, get rid of the 50m penalty altogether. 4. Stop bagging referees for giving a free if it's there to be given. Stop bagging them for not sensing the 'spirit of the game,' if a free is there it has to be paid. 5. If they implement new rules and they have unintended consequences, we need to act quickly. 6. Inter alia. lol

IF Melbourne still had Grundy on big-bucks playing reserves Kane would be going ballistic, "Wasting salary cap to pay a player in the twos!" Melbourne had a whole season to get Grundy /Max combo right and they failed. Also when Cornes says Melbourne have gifted a competitor an advantage -- there are 8 teams at lest this year who are legit competitors, so does that mean the only teams that Melbourne should have traded with are the bottom four? It is always a good show however, as Kingy calls Kane out and Kane chuckles because he knows its all just content...

Kinggy nails Cornes in a contradiction.... I'm normally backing you Kane - not this time!

What is Cornes talking about with Grundy? You don't pay your backup ruckman $1M a year...

King is right about the unfair bye. The AFL is now rivalling the NFL with scripted outcomes. We ALL know they are desperate to get Sydney a flag to promote the game in NSW. It's an absolute disgrace that they have had 2 byes already and some teams with injury worries are still waiting. The AFL fixture calls into question the very integrity of the AFL. I would never bet on a football match. It is more rigged than soccer.

Starting to look that way ay. Another point; Don’t get Freo fans started on travel. Dogs play next 5rounds at marvel while freo will have travelled 3 times interstate

Don't compare the NFL to AFL. Lol. Just don't.

You do realise that 7 other teams have exactly the same extra bye yeah? It's hilarious that when Sydney wins shit like this is highlighted but when Carlton, Collingwood or Melbourne win the exact same advantage goes completely unnoticed. Even in this convo, Kingy completely ignores the other 7 teams. Bloody Victorians, you guys are so entitled to all the glorys of our national sport and how dare an interstate team experience any of it. It's pathetic.

You have it wrong; Collingwood r the AFL favourites, always have been especially when the Golden Greek & Eddie the teddy were in charge. Collingwood always will be the AFL favourites, remember the year that Collingwood travelled interstate about 3 times if that.

You mean GWS. Given all the draft picks, have 5 supporters and still cant win a flag.

The AFL owns all clubs and is interested in money above all. Bums in seats is the priority irrelevant of who it needs to be that week. The bias isn't for one team, it's for money.
