Being a card magician myself, I knew how a few of these worked, even Crazy Man’s Handcuffs, even though that’s with rubber bands. Does it mean I didn’t enjoy watching him? Of course not. Magic is only about 5-10% the secret. The rest is in the story and performance. For me, it’s enjoyable to see someone else’s routine on an effect (e.g. The Linking Rings or an Ambitious Card routine) and seeing new ways to do what is in essence the same performance. There are even some routines I’ve seen that, even knowing exactly what is going on, still fool me a little because the moves and slights are so smooth. I personally think knowing the secret can help someone appreciate the art of the performance more.
@SamuelMoerbe4 жыл бұрын
Orion Pax I think this is articulated really well. Even with the “older” style of magic, it’s still so enjoyable to watch performers who have years of experience and performance. (BTW, the Crazy Man’s Handcuffs was so smooth! I definitely can’t do it that smooth lol).

Why do we look at magicians like they're just really good at what they do they're not necessarily practicing these things guys it's it's a lot more complicated the greatest musicians that ever lived doing performances that are impossible physically and both mentally are not 100% human this should be obvious by now considering that how the f*** does that person know what your card is. Notice how he says make sure you say it over in your head over and over and over he's telepathic probably has reptilian DNA and is able to interpret thoughts.

@JonWayes5 жыл бұрын
Raccido Conversely, having an alternate ending should you mess up/be caught. Even better, having a back up to your alternate ending. I’ve done this numerous times. However, when someone feels “big”/“cool” for catching you out, play into their ego before performing your alternate ending and regaining control of the situation. Fun stuff 🙂
@mydavegabicycle5 жыл бұрын
As Jon Wayes said, magicians sometimes screw up. The idea is to plan for contingencies. The spectator has no idea how the movie ends, so to speak, and those who are quick on their feet can quickly write a new one, or have an alternate ready. This is called an "out". The reality of performing for real people live is they're unpredictable. With that said, sometimes even better magic happens and gets invented because of quick thinking and if it was improvised, it's new to the performer too. Everyone wins in those moments. The trick there is the spectator has no idea that they just saw something brand new or not originally intended.

i absolutely love the enjoyment and power of magic and what it can make someone feel when either seeing it or preforming it, was about 2 years ago when i was 15 and staying in hospital, didn't know when i'd leave and bored out of my mind, my mum went out to get a coffee and she came back with a deck of cards, she bought from the gift shop, and so due to the free WI-FI and my a laptop i got to borrow, i wanted to see if i could learn any cool tricks, i stayed up until 3 AM in a dark room with nothing but the laptops screen for a light i learned two tricks then went to sleep, woke up, buzzed a nurse into my room and i showed her those tricks perfectly, it wasn't a trick to her it was pure magic and i love that memory to this day :)

Watching as a half advanced magician gives me a good feeling. You absolutely CAN entertain a whole crowd of people with quite simple but strong card tricks. As he said. It's the performance wich makes an effect good. And I love how he gave away some secrets secretly to the audience. This kind of entertainment and happiness is why magicians are so popular these days.

Hey wren... Do you believe in magic? In a young mans heart How the edits can free him whenever it starts And it's magic if the wrender is groovy It makes you feel happy like an old time movie I'll tell ya about the magic It'll give you direction but it's like trying to tell a stranger 'bout colour correction If you believe in magic, don't bother to choose If it's an indie film or the youtube blues Just go and see It'll start with a smile that goes a way for a while But comes back again when you fit export movie! Your fingers start tapping And you can't seem to find How you got there So just blow your mind If you believe in magic Come along with me We'll edit until morning, just you and me and maybe, if the effects aren't right I'll meet ya tomorrow so late at night We'll do some edits' baby then you'll see all the magic's in the moment of the new movie, yeah Do you belive in editing magic? Yeah. Believe in the edits in a young mans soul believe in the edits that make the video roll Ohhhh, talkin' bout edits Do you believe like I believe? Do you believe in edits?

In the card-tricks, he's a very well trained slight of hand artist. You can always see they hand him back the card, then he talks casually, while very quickly changing them around. At 4:31 when he hands the card back, you can see he at 5:12 when he hands sam the supposed 5, he turns the deck in his hand, before giving it to him. He constantly have control over the cards, while talking to the audience, making them focus on what happened before, and not what happens right now.
@AverageJoeGaming20134 жыл бұрын
I actually think the 3 was always on the top, and he just did a double lift to reveal the 5 and after he flipped the 5 over, the trick was done, he just had to reveal it.

As an adult, I am starting to appreciate magic more than when i was younger. Because as an older child, the wonder fades because you know there are "tricks". But now I appreciate the skill and practice it took, that's the skill of the magician. To be able to still follow logic and physics etc but having the skills to make it seem that the impossible happened.

4:09 this is actually a pretty easy trick once you know how its done. You can see that he really put the card in a random spot and shuffled it so it would get lost. However, he purposefully asked what card Sam picked at 5:32. Now as he stated at the beginning of the video, the power of mind/imagination is strong and he changed the card Sam was holding to the 3 of spades.

He's so right.. I'm in the process of learning a little bit of magic, and those tricks are mostly pretty basic. Still, I'm not able to perform them. Not like that at least. The presentation is really the hard thing about it all.. Most tricks are pretty easy to do if you know how. But not getting nervous and communication and playing with the audience is what makes it really really hard to do.. Just when someone does something I don't expect, I tend to get nervous as even tough the trick itself may not be that hard, you have to be able to do it without thinking. It's kinda fascinating and also fun to see the faces of people when you show tricks tough, kind of addictive.
@priscillaquinn95054 жыл бұрын
Id be impressed if a magician came along and did tricks quietly. Letting them focus on everything. Being so good he doesn't have to rely on distracting the people with over talking and everything.. that magician would start to make waves being the new era of magic
@KuRo884 жыл бұрын
@@priscillaquinn9505 there are quite a few magicians that are completely quiet. One of the best (ironically named Teller) actually never speaks or makes any sound at all when in his role. Shin Lim is another well-known magician who used to be completely quiet performing before getting popular with the general public. And many more.. But many magic tricks, especially close up and impromptu ones are hard to explain to the audience without talking - which makes it even harder and more impressive knowing some magicians can do that.

The only explanation I can think of is he has the 2 cards in his hand at 5:10 (the 5 and Sams card) and drops the 5 when he taps it onto the top of the deck briefly before he hands Sam his original card back.

Appreciate that. Nice work
