Andrew's Peter being self-aware he is the least popular Spiderman was genius ("Peter 3!"), and Tobey's Peter being the one reminding him how "amazing" he is...just perfect, the whole thing was perfect, I actually think the "I love you guys" thing was something Garfield improvised.

The best part is that Andrew and Tobey aren’t just there for bait, they have an actual role despite appearing near the end. And their chemistry…. It’s so good.
@leinad05042 жыл бұрын
This was my exact thought. I also thought the villains would just be bait/cameos rather than being the focus of the plot. The older spidey franchises felt really incorporated, which really elevated the movie from just being fan service to being a sequel story that brings closure to the other movies.
@royliber38242 жыл бұрын
@@leinad0504 Apart from Green Goblin which simply does things... The other villains (even Doc Ock) felt like they were all filling a part of nostalgic to spidey fans out of MCU. I loved it that the villains didn't took all the focus, nor did Andrew and Tobey and that it was still Tom Holland's movie. They joined in at the perfect moment in the most fun and overwhelming way there is. To say the least, im quite sad we haven't seen Mary Jane (she knows who Spiderman is as well) but im also not sad about it because I know it would be an overkill to add her. For me, this movie easily gets 10/10 not only because of all the huge returns weve seen, but also the acting was on point from Tom Holland and mostly from the other characters but for me what really did it was the jokes in between they added. Marvel knew clearly about the memes going on and apart from my favourite Spiderman Pointing at Spiderman meme they added everything in. Everything was well thought of, they kinda redeemed themselves from previous movies which some of them were really flops but this movie will be remembered for a very long time. Yes, even more than Endgame.

I feel like nobody’s talking about Otto and Tobeys Peter reuniting. They were so happy to see each other, especially since Tobey hadn’t seen him in years at this point, and it was just touching. The way Otto says “you’ve grown up” and his sheer excitement to ask how he’s been is so wholesome. I’ve always felt bad for Otto. Those arms took away the life of an otherwise good man. There was absolutely no speculation of his appearance from what people saw from the trailers, and they placed his cameo at the very beginning of the film where people least expected it. This film to me is the culmination of the lessons Tom Holland's Peter has been learning since his appearance in Civil War. In CW and Homecoming, he was just the new kid trying to figure out how to do the superhero stuff and his focus was on impressing Tony, whom he idolized. By the end of Homecoming he realized he still had a lot to learn and wasn't ready to be a full-fledged Avenger yet. In Infinity War + Endgame he got caught up in things much bigger than himself, and he knew it. But, he also knew he needed to do his part, and so he followed the lead of all the more experienced heroes and offering support. Then, he watched as the man he looked up to the most made the sacrifice play- giving his life, giving up the happiness he could have with his wife and child, to save everyone. And this hit him *hard*. In Far From Home, he felt once again like he was getting caught up in things much bigger than himself, but this time without Tony's guidance. He felt incapable of living up to the legacy of Iron Man that he inherited, and so he tried several times to leave the issues to people more capable than him, but they were all either off-world or otherwise unable to assist. He rejected his responsibility and naively trusted a complete stranger who had tricked him. He was able to correct this mistake, and things nearly worked out- but one more trick turned his life upside down when they revealed his secret identity. And here, in No Way Home, Peter tried to find a way to get things back to the way they were, and sought the help of a friend who has power that he did not fully grasp the magnitude of, and ends up botching the spell which causes even more chaos and destruction in his world and life. He saw the tragedy of these people from other universes, and while he wanted to go along with Dr. Strange's plan to just put them back where they were and resign them to their fates, Aunt May reminded him of what he already knew, that he has the capability to help them, and thus the responsibility to at least try. So, he became his own hero, standing up for his own beliefs, even against someone he looks up to because he believes what he is doing is right. He didn't just blindly trust these strangers, having given the cube to MJ and Ned as a contingency if things went wrong, which, of course they did. And he realized that the only way to fully right the wrongs he caused was to follow the example that Tony made for him: sacrificing his own life and happiness for the good of everyone else. That is the moment that, to me, marks this Peter as having become a fully realized Spider-Man. The tragedy of the hero who can never have it all.

Tom’s face when he was carrying that glider over to Goblin is so badass. And the way Tobey catches the glider, and they both just stare each other down with so much tension, I thought for a split second that Tom was going to start fighting Tobey out of pure rage (Tobey would’ve beat his little ass). The guttural roar that Tom let out while trying to shove the glider through Tobey and Goblin was awesome. And again, the shot of Tobey just looking at him like “Kid, this isn’t how we do things, I’m not letting you do this.” It’s all so perfect. This movie, ESPECIALLY Acts 2 and 3, were so perfect. One more quick thing, Willem Dafoe’s performance. He was a psychopath and I loved every second of it. He was so heinous, so calculated, so cold. He was physically and mentally torturing Tom. And unlike in Spider-Man 2002, he actually goes as far as to not just scare Aunt May, but to actually deliver a death blow to her. I didn’t think Dafoe could top his performance in 2002. It’s like all 3 of the movies I grew up with are passing down the torch. I’ll never see that Peter against but he helped our new one define the Spider-Man he will become. It’s beautiful.

I just loved how Tobey and Andrew's Peters got to redeem themselves from one of their worst moments (failing to save Gwen and kind of being responsible for Norman's death) they both got to stop that from happening to Tom and in a way it saved them from it as well
@justinrandall59072 жыл бұрын
I disagree that he was responsible for Norman's death entirely. The guy was literally trying to kill you by lulling you into a false sense of suspicion and then trying to impale you from behind. The only way Peter dodged the glider in the first place is because of his Spider Sense, and he'd be dead otherwise, and he didn't have time to process what Norman was doing or thinking. Osborne sealed his own fate then and there. If someone's trying to kill you by ramming their car into you and top speed, and they plow into a tree because they miss, it doesn't make you partially responsible for their murder. They just died as a result of their own actions, just like at how dodging someone trying to push you off a ledge doesn't make you responsible for murder if they fall off instead of you.

The two other Spider-Men didn’t show up at the end of the movie. They were pretty much in the entire third act of the movie. I’m overly glad that Garfield got redemption and closure for his Spider-Man. And I very much agree with that it took three movies to get this “origin“ for Spider-Man. Because in the first film, it was all about Peter wanting to be the hero, the second film was him struggling with his responsibilities as a hero while trying to be a teenager, and this one is when he faces the consequences of being a hero. By the end of the movie we finally get not Spider-Man the Avenger, not Iron Man Junior, but just Spider-Man. And that creates a whole new exciting opportunity for the next trilogy.

I feel like it was a really smart play to stretch his origin like this, for a few reasons. 1) We got to watch his round in Civil War and then his first movie and think, "Cool, we don't have to rehash Uncle Ben's death after doing it twice so recently." 2) After so many of the MCU films feeling disconnected except for the team up events, we got to enjoy Spider-Man feeling _in_ the MCU. 3) By the time this movie comes out we've settled into the idea that this is our MCU Spider-Man, then *BAM* Aunt May is dying, she says the iconic line that has been earned by the story so far instead of feeling obligatory, and by the end we have Peter, alone, in his crappy apartment. There was no way to have it come around and sock us like this in his first film. I loved it when Aunt May died. Sorry, let me phrase that better. The scene was made flawlessly and I really liked this Aunt May. My eyes got watery (but not as much as in the end) but that's still darn impressive as I almost never get THAT sad when watching movies. The only other movie that came that close was GotG Vol. 2 after Yondu died. I really liked No Way Home and how they handled it and set up her death was amazing.

I do think Uncle Ben exist in this film adaptation though, they hinted at him in civil war and homecoming very briefly, and Peter had a suit case with his initials on it in far from home, but this trilogy was for sure a bigger and more natural development on his origin story.

Honestly I think it’s a somewhat good thing. Gives his character arc a big change and makes him rely on himself more than others just like the og spiderman did. Which also allows him to go solo instead of being wrapped around in the avengers. I’m not a big fan of his spiderman but I’m kind liking the way they’re approaching it so he can feel like a real spiderman with hardships. And him not telling Ned and mj that he’s spidermen just shows that he’s learned from the other spidermen and that great power comes great responsibility

In my opinion (and I'm not alone here), Ned and MJ (both in name only) sucked, and kept these movies feeling like a Disney teenage comedy. I'm sure when Peter meets Harry and Gwen in college, it will work a lot better.

What I liked about Electro in this movie was that he wasn’t even all that evil he was just kind of a greedy dickhead. That's what made the Green Goblin stand out too - he's the ONLY Spiderman movie villain who was evil just for evil's sake. It's fitting for him to be the main villain because he is the antithesis for the Spider-men, who try their best to be good just because it's the responsible thing to do.

I do agree I had expressed some concern over this film by having so many villains it could feel overstuffed and poorly done like amazing spider man 2, but they handled it well, and I think having villain origins established in previous films also helped so they didn’t have to explain everyone again. The other thing is that I really appreciate that this is still tom’s movie above all else, and the other spider men were the icing on the cake

Also, Andrew is 38, and is now a "serious" actor, I dont see him commited to a full Spiderman movie...I do, however, thing this is the perfect time for him to have a supporting role in Venom 3, Eddie has to meet Peter in that movie, and Andrew's version is PERFECT.

The reason this movie is so great is because while putting all the villains and Tobey and Andrew in it are definitely fan service, they're actually an integral part of the story and help develop Tom Holland's Spidey. This movie would have sucked if they were only there for a couple "funny" lines of dialogue and a big final fight. Like they actually matter in the story. Not to mention Dafoe's outstanding performance. As a kid who grew up on all of these Spiderman films, it's so clear that the people making this movie actually put a lot of thought and care about how to include these characters and not just use them as cheap nostalgia bait. It pays off so well.
