@The Expats Report Perhaps because Marcel has been seeing a lot of older foreigners marrying Filipinas as old as their daughters. Sad but most of these foreigners come to the Philippines for that sole purpose. They usually find their match because most young girls marry for their poor families. Age won’t matter. 😌

Just so everyone knows too: If you as a foreigner buys a condo there and spends at least $45,000 (when I did) you are also entitled to a permanent resident card! I got it. I didn’t know about this special law for foreigners until after I bought my condo. Then a woman helped me out to get the resident card. It’s called the ICR-card. Quota visa. I didn’t have to marry a Filipina to get one too! Many of my expat friends didn’t know about this. Including the ones who got married and wished they did know about it before they got married! I think it’s still around. This law. Check it out in case you plan to buy.

These men that pretend to be content seem to have burnt all their bridges in their homeland, sold up all they had and moved to PI with no way out if things go wrong or they simply cant adapt to the living conditions in Philippines which for most western people that have moved there seems to be a step down compared to the living conditions they had in the western world.

Motorcycle your transportation but if you have 4 wheel i think ABOUT 700-1000 USD. Haircut is only 1-2 dollars. Humburger is only 1-2 dollars but plain burger only .50 cents. I lived in Manila for eleven years. Makati. There of course its more expensive than in the provinces. Or in other parts of Manila. The further out you go the cheaper it is. I prefer to be in the big city. Where the “action” is. The weather was the least attractive part of living there. Hot and humid or warm and humid. In the eleven years I was there I never wore a jacket or sweater. Not one day. The rainy season too can be pretty heavy. See flooded streets all the time. The government gets lazy. They don’t want to go in and clear out the drain systems so it floods badly. I would see some people use life rafts to go down the street! I love Hong Kong but it’s expensive. Way way more than Manila.

Good bugetting. Western is not bad.Your budget includes your yard and pool. Dyi is the expensive one. You have the time to spend. You are happy of what you are doing with your projects. Do you have a vegetable garden? That would be a fun thing to do too. Enjoy!

I agree this amount is more realistic. I have 40 plus years of very close ties with the Philippines, spending more than half of my adult life living, working, investing, later retiring, and now snowbirding. I have known of too many western expats who have moved to the Philippines with limited income, and later regretting it when their health declined.

Thanks for sharing. I find your videos helpful. I was on vacation there (balikbayan) in 2022 for almost 6 1/2 months after retiring in San Francisco as a probation officer. I stayed at my condo in Mandaluyong. I spent around $2000 a month including utilities. No rent because my condo is paid off but I didn’t buy a parking spot so I pay 6500 pesos a month to park my car. One big expense was gas for my little Vios. Gas prices increased in 2022. Traffic is bad on EDSA. I’ve been driving around visiting friends and family. Some out of town trips. I dine out a lot and mostly order Food Panda. I often go to S&R to buy US products & groceries. They’re expensive in the Philippines. Expenses in the province is a lot cheaper.
@MyPIDream Жыл бұрын
Metro Manila is expensive. If you were down here in our area you could get by on almost half that budget if you eat local foods and just treat yourself out to S&R or other US based restaurants from time to time.

@kenrice3 жыл бұрын
@@curiousd6533 All depends upon the lifestyle. Sure you can get by on that amount of money if you are in good health, have no medical issues and live more like a local without the western comforts. If you enjoy a good steak once a week, air-con you and do more than just exist you will need more money :) Let's not forget regular dental and health checkups and all those other expenses most people do not include in the budgets they publicize.
