Pub Comrad, actually the modern Chinese army has decent equipment and a high training standard. While the South Korean army is one of the best in the world it is no surprise that the Chinese would beat them, given the disparity in numbers. However, as Binkov mentioned, in a politically realistic scenario South Korea would have the full support of the US. Seeing as the South Koreans could fare pretty well against China on their own, any additional US support would be more than sufficient to tip the balance back in their favor. This remains true even if the North Koreans get involved.

South Korea v China would realistically be an example of such conflict, considering that Korea is fully backed by the USFK and the Japanese SDF while it's likely that North Korea and possibly even Russia will side with China when the entire Pacific Fleet is on their doorstep.

Neither side can go for a total victory, Russia will never be able to go through norway (ground troops too slow, airborne assaults aren't big enough and Nato airpower will destroy everything). Baltics+maybe bit of Poland is all Russia can go for (even then Germans have troops in the Baltic states ready to aid in defense). Turkey is too strong just by itself, but Iceland could be taken by secret naval assault for almost no strategic value. Nato lacks an easy path to attack Russia and they will never be able to go for an long war even with far bigger army and lack the ability to conquer big amount of Russia...

That is and the consensus on the issue, so much so that until AirLand battle the US relied on the threat of mutual annihilation as a preventive measure against war and resulted in a small weak us army (and a ton of tactical nukes to fire at advancing Soviet tank columns). However in the early 1980s the US strengthened their ground forces for a potential land war against the forces of the Warsaw Pact (using AirLand war as the doctrine). Both countries also had ABMs capable of shooting down nukes and I don't know about the Americans, but the some of the USSRs ICBMs doubled as ABMs if the warheads were removed (to overcome strategic arms limitations). Finally the West discovered the existence of spetsnaz GRU late in the Cold War and their core function is to seek and potentially destroy enemy tactical and strategic weapons. With many anti nuclear weapons as well as a potential for both side not use them out of fear of retaliation similar to how chemical warfare was not used in World War Two (at least on the European front). Overall it is reasonable to presume both sides would be annihilated (and take down the rest of the world) I think there are some potential scenarios that play out where we don't all die, which is what I'm requesting Commissar Binkov to play out in a video.

Which era? Warsaw Pact vs Nato in 1949 just after the formation of the Warsaw pact? 1962 with the Cuban Missile Crisis? Just before the historical end of the cold war in 1989 (the "World in Conflict" scenario)? I am very confident that the Warsaw pact would win in 1949, and that NATO would win in 1989. Can't say for sure what the outcome would be for mid-cold-war scenario's. I think the balance was mostly in the Warsaw Pact's favor for most of the Cold War (as far as conventional forces in Europe, the US always had the advantage in numbers of nukes, not that it mattered). Any period would be interesting to see play out, but each would be a distinctly different scenario.

Also, the options for countering nukes were basically between 'take the hit' and 'build more nukes'. There were thousands of ICBM's at the height of the cold war, and each one is nearly impossible to shoot down. Spetsnaz and NATO special forces might be able to disable up to a dozen silo's under even the most optimistic circumstances.

Preferably 1980, where the US and Nato started believing they could take on the Warsaw pact and had just implemented AirLand battle. I don't know about any Western special force with the same fuction as spetsnaz (I think the green berets are similar and can deploy "suitcase nukes" but their purpose isnt to attack silos). Spetsnaz was a direct response to western tactical nuclear weapons (like Pershing missiles) that would threaten advancing soviet forces in the case of war. They would operate behind enemy lines and scout out these weapons and if no air support is available, or there is heavy AA or time is short or any other reason, they would attack it and maybe destroy it (or at least prevent launch for a few hours to a few days due to damage). As the potential for a force like this was realised, its capabilities were increased to combat strategic nuclear weapons as well as well as the size (to well over 10,000 idk exactly the size) and more resources were allocated to their training. Would it be possible for spetsnaz to locate and or destroy all of the enemies nuclear weapons? Of course not. The solution to this is spetsnaz would target important politicans and military leaders (ones with the authority to launch and or the launch codes). They would also target communications centers (including civilian ones).Would they destroy all the communication centers and assassinate all the leaders, again, of course not. But a simultaneous attack to the nukes, those with the power to launch them and the medium which they would issue the commands would (in the opinion of the Soviet leaders) prevent a significant number of nuclear weapons from being used. ABM technology was quite good in 1980 (although nuclear weapons move faster than missiles and aircraft, their paths are more predictable) and many of them would be effective. As a result of those that are fired only a fraction would hit (if any) and as a result a potential Soviet Victory in a nuclear war. I don't know the exact details of the West's plan of dealing with Soviet nuclear weapons or if it was to rely on mutually assured destruction as a massive disincentive for the Soviet Union declaring war.

The two types of "frigates" you've mentioned in 4:21 on the korean side are actually destroyers. You got it right on classifying the Incheon class as a frigate but you didn't include the Daegu class frigate which is an advance variation of incheon class. Plus the ulsan class is also a frigate. So there are 11 total destroyers (Sejong + Yisunshin + Gwangaeto) and 14 total frigates (Incheon + Daegu + Ulsan) for Korea.

The thing with Russia is that with limited resources they had, they had to spend a huge chuck to maintain their nuclear arsenal and submarine fleet and everything else is on the back burner and slowly deteriorate. The whole point is they are going to use nukes liberally if they are invaded, so that they don't have to maintain a huge conventional military that they can no longer afford. If we take nukes out (which Russia has 20x more than China), China cuts off Trans-Siberia and Baikal-Amur railroads and Russia loses Siberia. And if we are talking about when nukes are accounted, Russia will 100% use it. If it doesn't, China can just slowly take Russian land piece by piece (the salami strategy), where exactly does Russia draw the line?

you need to do some research first buddy. it was proved in joint military exercise SSM-700K haesong anti ship missile has 100% accuracy outperforms american harpoon and french exocet. k-2 black panther is arguably the best tank out there and only reason why ppl consider leopard or abrams better is only cause of they have been in actual combat. k-9 is currently in top 2 spot for self-propelled artillery with the german phz2000. they can fire similar rate rpm but k-9 and withstand harsh weather conditions much better. its also getting a huge upgrade so soon it will be at top spot way above the phz2000. kdx-3 was the best aegis destroyer until the zumwalt class was commissioned and except for the spy-1d radar and goalkeeper, all the weapon systems that it's equipped with are made in korea. you can look up all the advanced technology on this vessel that puts it above japanese atago class and american arleigh burke class. korea also completed 80% on their nuclear bombs back in the 80s secretly until america found out and came to shut down the program. there are many other weapons producer companies in korea that is exporting to many countries. american swat team and other police task forces around the world uses breaching axes and combat knifes made in korea. so what does china has to offer? some things are decent but because its china, we never know the true specs of their equipment since they lie to the world like how they lie to their citizens.

South Korea might take some pretty nasty casualties (relative to the low intensity wars we've become accustomed to) in the first couple of days. Not to discredit Korea or anything, and I have no intention to offend anyone either 😊 However, Sui was one of the weakest and short lived Dynasties in China and Chinese history always simplified it to the dynasty that “hey, at least they unified China.” Nonetheless it’s still a great accomplishment to repel a foreign invasion from a much larger foe. I just feel as if Koreans looks at some battles won by Korea in history and just assume that’s the whole picture. While Koreans boast about winning battles, China wins entire wars and subject Korea as a vassal state. Yet you don’t see Chinese using that as a “that’s why we always win” statement. I think that attitude by Koreans is annoying. No one is here to tell them they’re weak or anything. No Chinese belittle or think Korea is easy game. Yet Koreans boast and brag about the times Korea won and say racist stuff to Chinese people, seemingly unprovoked too. On a side note. While Korea repels invasions, China IS the invader. I think that’s a fundamental difference people have to understand as to why China is more powerful throughout history and still is. It’s always China invades Korea (this video too) but never Korea invades China. That’s enough to tell you about the status quo throughout history and now too. This isn’t targeted at you, I totally get your point about not belittling Korea. Just thought it would be a good place to put my thoughts about how obnoxious some people are acting in the comment sections.

I think one important thing that was missed is the fact that South Korea's north is perhaps the most heavily defended place on earth, with the possible exception of the southern part of North Korea. The South Koreans have had 60 years to fortify the place. Chinese numerical advantages wouldn't really matter too much, because you can only fit so many people into a chunk of terrain and still have them fight effectively. I'm not at all convinced that China could crack those defenses.
