Captive Honour doesn't get enough love. It's one of my favorites on the album along with Ashes in Your Mouth.

Dave's voice on Captive Honour is so badass. You gotta give Dave credit.....He might've been a dick, but he was the epitome of 'cool'. 😎

It's a savage track very underrated.. The Megadeth at the tail of the album is unbelievable.. Its like it bursts in kicks ass then hangs in the grooves for the middle and then utterly destroying on the end of the album.. Its such an enjoyable album to listen to.. I think their newest album is right up there with this album.. Some really great topics and theming the playing is tight as hell with that groove the band was missing in the 2000s.

Captive Honour has gotta be the most underrated tracks. Love it when Dave’s vocals match his aggressive rhythms! 🤘🏻🤘🏻 He also does this perfectly in the song Hook in Mouth

Next album should be Rust in Peace or Peace Sells, absolute landmarks in the metal history, both albums feature some of the best solos and riffs in metal

Ashes in your mouth was one of my favorites. The next two albums, youthanasia and cryptic writings, are my favorites of this time.

About Dave's voice, the album that came out after Countdown to Extintion (1992) is called Youthanasia (1994). In Youthanasia Dave took singing more seriously. Youthanasia and Cryptic Writings (1997) are the peak of Dave's singing. If you plan on reacting to more Megadeth please AVOID the remastered versions of the albums. These remasters that came out in 2004 are very infamous for butchering the quality of the original records. Btw, you should check out the song "Liar" (1988). Dave raps on it. It's a diss song. It's an extremely effective and badass thrash song with lots of powerful riffs.

Yea, I'd agree to avoid the remasters.

Gotta hear "So Far, So Good, So What." Its underrated old school cheap 80's studio recording but man the Riffs, Solos and Song writing is amazing.

Enjoyed this series. Hope you do another of their albums. And by another I mean Rust in Peace of course.

Thrash metal, or metal in general, got pretty mainstream around the time this album came out. It was kind of strange to hear Megadeth on the radio back then. I almost felt betrayed, being a metalhead and all. But Dave was always competing with you know who. You can hear that in this album. I enjoyed you listening to this. Thanks

There’s 2 other tracks from this time frame of Megadeth worth a listen. Angry Again is from a movie soundtrack and 99 Ways to Die is from a compilation album. Both outstanding tracks.

Countdown is equivalent to 'tallica's Black album as the bands tried to evolve and become more popular. There are a couple of really good tracks on it -- but I can begin to see what would eventually lead to the Risk album (blah!). Glad I grew up in the 80's listening to these bands.

First of all, to clarify, jail and prison are two completely different things. Captive Honor is talking about both Prison slaves and slaves of war. 2nd, these songs and "scary" stories about prison always seem to be from people who have never been on the inside or haven't been in prison in the U.S. since the 70s. Even someone who "works" in prison doesn't really understand what it's like. Rape in prison has has never been as common as people make it out to be and ever since the Aryan Brotherhood started it rarely ever happens anymore. I'm not an AB supporter and I absolutely despise racists, but I have to hand it to them as they always protect their "own kind" in prison as long as you're not a rule breaker and nowadays even the other races don't go around raping people. It's usually either isolated incidents, punishment for owing debts (and still rare even then), and sometimes the smaller psych or high level yards (the minority of inmates) where an insane celly takes advantage of the other celly (and even then they'll usually get pulled apart and the offender gets solitary confinement). Yes, I'm an excon who has done time on mid level yards where there was violence, but I never once seen or even heard of a modern day rape. Even in the 90s when Dave wrote this it wasn't common.
