Glad you chose to react to Pink Floyd! Let me echo some of the things others have said. For one, Pink Floyd doesn't write songs, they write albums. Many of their greatest albums (including the legendary "The Dark Side Of The Moon", "Wish You Were Here", "Animals", and their magnum opus, the double album "The Wall") were written with only one pause - in the middle, to flip the vinyl over. When you listen to individual digital studio tracks, you'll begin to notice they begin and end abruptly - that's because on the vinyl studio album, each song flows out of the last song, and into the next one. For another, Pink Floyd is absolutely a vibe. They take their time, and write music that moves you. Their lyrics stay with you, and make you think. They don't write love songs. For a third, Pink Floyd's PULSE Concert is legendary. What was left of the band were all getting on in years (bassist and principle songwriter Roger Waters having left the band nearly a decade before) and the lads may have realized this would be their last ride together. The tour was also in support of what would turn out to be their final studio album, "The Division Bell". They may have just decided to go out on top. What we do know for sure is that they created the most expensive concert tour in history to that point, took it out on the road, and called their CD and video recordings of it the PULSE Concert (so named because the original CD release had a red LED light in the spine that flashed, or 'pulsed'.) I had the absolute pleasure of seeing this tour at Sun Devil Stadium, with 65,000 friends, and the show was even better live than it looks. Every song is a fantastic version, and they are all worth watching, if you should choose to react to more Floydicus Pinkus (and you should!) While every song on those nights are really good (the concert was recorded at Earls Court in London, over several nights) the one that has been called arguably one of the greatest concert performances ever recorded was "Comfortably Numb", off of "The Wall". Lead guitarist David Gilmour's solo is mind-blowing, and the light show is breath-taking. You REALLY need to react to it. Other excellent choices are "Wish You Were Here", "Time", "High Hopes", and the show's sometime-finale, "Run Like Hell". Keep up the good work!

I had no idea of the history behind Pink Floyd, certainly interesting and explains why they are such a legendary group! Thanks for sharing!

@@ACoupleReactions Happy to help. If we’re speaking about Floyd’s history, then there’s a story you should know. The original lead guitarist and songwriter for the band was Syd Barrett. They wrote and released 3 albums with Syd leading them. But Syd had mental health issues (some say schizophrenia) which was exacerbated by his frequent use of LSD. He became erratic, not always showing up for gigs, and sometimes just standing to one side of the stage, not playing. The band members were all friends, but this was intolerable. So another friend, David Gilmour, began playing in his place. As the story goes, one night they just didn’t pick Syd up before a gig, and from the point on, David was their guitarist. Having to leave their friend behind hit the band hard, and beginning with ‘Dark Side’, themes of mental illness, loneliness, fear, walling people away for protection began running through their work. It’s one reason why their music stays with you. And it’s all because of Syd.

Pink Floyd takes you to another dimension of time/space. No other band compares.

Just do "Comfortably Numb" from the same Pulse concert and you'll see why Pink Floyd is never approached when it comes to a live show that was done back in 1994!! This song is off their Dark Side of the Moon album and each song transitions seamlessly into the next. You really should listen to the studio version of that album to get an idea why people were floored when that album came out. It still sells 8 to 10000 copies a week worldwide.

Run Like Hell shows a more lively version of Pink Floyd. I guess I mean more rock? The light show is insane! Pink Floyd was way ahead of their time when it came to light shows/ lasers/special effects. Also, don't ever react to a video without checking to see if its from the Pulse version! 😏❤

That was something of a "different" choice as a first Pink Floyd song to react to. Like I see others have said, maybe the Pulse concert version of "Comfortably Numb" would be something that would draw you in, unless you'd prefer to just get dragged in kicking and screaming (in a good way) to maybe "Sorrow", or "One of These Days" from the same concert. Then, of course, you'll find yourself wanting to listen to us coax you into a few of their studio albums

From the Pulse collection, please check out COMFORTABLY NUMB, and also RUN LIKE HELL.

So I'm loving that this was your first reaction. Pink Floyd is one of the greatest bands of all time. Y'all remind me of family so I will subscribe and chill with you. My favorite Pink Floyd song is The Great gig in the sky" do the album version first, infact you should just listen to the entire "Dark side of the moon" album. I could change your musical life. 6:49

So this entire album is basically one 45 minute song. Every single song will transport you. After Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, those dudes from wayback, I don’t anyone is in the same league as Pink Floyd.

Hi Josh and Abbey - Nice to meet you both. Prepare yourselves to be inundated with the Pink Floyd request. They are one of (if not THE) best bands ever to draw breath of air. I will be here any time you react to them. I would like to request that you check out their song "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" But...Special Request...Do the AUDIO ONLY version. This wat you will not be distracted by video, and get the mental journey that I had the gift of experiencing 49 years ago when I first heard it.

Pink Floyd's first album was in 1967, and their most famous albums are from the 70's.

This song came out in 1973. A little research might help. They are a sixties and seventies band.

It's good to see your generation venturing off into the past. Pink Floyd has so many great songs but since your already at the pulse concert you should check out Comfortably Numb. It's a great introduction into the ride your gonna take with Pink Floyd.

I hope you do the studio version of Time. Though I really hope you do every song from Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall. It would be best to do the songs in album order, but most reactors don't do that. If you are not doing them in order, do Time next. You should love it.

Dip your toe in Pink Floyd Track by track through two albums (actually best done as "Side 1" & "Side 2" but do have lyrics to hand and brace yourself because Kansas is about to go bye bye! 1. The Dark Side of the Moon 2. Wish You Were Here

Santana - Smooth (Stereo) ft. Rob Thomas. Rock with a heavy Latin influence. This often gets blocked, but it's definitely worth checking out even if you don't do a reaction.

Since you two are just starting out on your journey of music discovery, try some Steely Dan. With mostly jazzy, progressive R & B and bluesy sounds they have an extensive catalog that will take you deep into the rabbit hole. Black Cow, Aja, Babylon Sisters, Hey Nineteen, The Royal Scam, Kid Charlemagne, Don't Take Me Alive, Do It Again, My Old School and many more! Best of luck

@@ACoupleReactions I agree with the above, I would recommend "Shine on You crazy Diamond" but that is just my personal opinion, and if ya ask 10 Pink Floyd fans what the best song to start with you will get between 15-30 song choices....HA
@Rassskle9 ай бұрын
Most Pink Floyd fans only ever agree on the best Pink Floyd song and / or album. That song is either the last one you listened to, or the one playing NOW. Ditto for the best album. As it is, I agree with the previous comments.....Breathe is not the best introduction to a stand alone band with their own musical genre no other band has been able to emulate. Breathe itself is the first vocals from The Dark Side Of The Moon.....before Breathe you have Speak To Me ( you inside your mother's womb ) and hearing music and people's voices. Then a female screams ( your own child birth )......and now Breathe, because you must breathe for yourself now. Side One ends with 2 songs that should always be listened to together as one song in 2 contrasting parts. Time is about our lives, ending with The Great Gig In The Sky. Time is a brilliant song, The Great Gig is a monumental work of art. Then you have Side 2 to explore. lol
