Not one tear from her boyfriend. Something is off about him. There are still alot of loop holes in this story. How come they did not kidnap her boyfriend too and in most cases if a couple is targeted the usually kill the man because they don't want the witness to be alive. Why was his life spared but she was kidnapped and tortured? how come the police never looked into that? Also how odd is it that the criminals sent the police a letter admitting to their guilt. The whole thing just seems like it was planned by her boyfriend in an attempt to get rid of her. Their engagment is just to keep his reputation in tact as the innocent bf. I feel bad for whites because often times the assumption is that they are innocent and the victims who are usually white, almost never get the true justice they deserve. The police treated us like garbage. They literally accused of us being drug dealers (despite there not being any drugs or paraphernalia in the apartment). They didn't investigate anything whatsoever. There were a string of similar incidents in the same area that we didn't learn about until later. The only reason the incidents came to light was because the 3 men ended up setting a place on fire that they robbed, killing 3 people inside. When it was being reported, there was no mention at all that the previous incidents hadn't been investigated. People had to die in order for the police to do their job.

She was victimized twice. Poor girl. A letter!?! 2.5 million should help. I would leave that town though cops will never forget the.

Imagine a case where the criminal sees the le enforcement not doing their job believing their victims and going out of their way to almost out himself for them to take it seriously. Because the media and the law are just focusing on salacious, imaginative scenarios. It took him redoing similar crimes and getting caught for the whole story to come together and believing the victims… pretty crazy and infuriating. Thank God those cops, who investigating his last crime in another city nearby, arresting him and putting all the dots together. Shameful of their Vallejo police and FBi department for not believing there’s more and investigating, even when shown more proof. Im glad they Denise and Aaron won their settlement against them and got their justice restored.

Wait, so what did the ex girlfriend have to do with this story??

This is only strange because law enforcement made it strange. Well said Aaron!

Its unprofessional to go in front of press and talk about a crime unless the victim permits. Maybe it was a cop who did it and he was protecting his own. Many victims are not believed after being raped and that is why they do not come forward.

Aaron and Denise, what you went through, truly a living nightmare. You are absolute hero’s. When Denise said, in American Nightmare, “…my body was physically taken. What do I have to do be believed?” A public apology from the police officers and that awful FBI agent is essential. They publicly humiliated and traumatised two victims of an horrific crime. Now it’s time they these incompetent, vicious police officers answer some questions and apologise, publicly.

This is so sad on how the police didn't do anything when they can easily trace the kidnapper from the boyfriend's phone. Their lives have been ruined but they were able to restore thanks to the detective from the other city who is doing their job properly.

I can’t imagine what they had to go through omg. How scary. The fact that we live in a world where people with power using the wrong way. The system is so corrupt!!! Our world is now deceiving.

Dang, that is a CRAZY story! I hope the couple got their settlement money and that the Vallejo police department eventually apologized to them publicly for making assumptions in their case!

Wow Wow Wow. How in the hell can a police department get it so terribly wrong yet say they wouldn’t change anything??????????? My prayers go out to this couple for all the trauma they went thru and prayers they have a long and happy life together.

They still have not explained how the man who assaulted her had so much information about them.🤔

What is the to explain? Obviously, he did some research on his victims.

I'm currently watching American Nightmare on Netflix. I initially thought the boyfriend was guilty. Sad what happened to them.

So disgusting. The investigators should be held responsible. A pay up? That teaches them nothing. I hope they can’t sleep at night knowing they were victim blaming.
