I know what you mean about not expecting it. I still remember getting a call from a friend telling me to turn the tv on that their had just been a horrible accident in NY. I turned it on just in time to see the 2nd plane hit and that is when we knew it was no accident. I felt so bad for the people that lost their lives that day and the people that lost loved ones that day and in the days following the attacks. I can't speak for anyone but myself when I say I am very glad that I live in a country that is free and it is free due to the sacrifice of brave men and women. There are not words strong enough to let them know how thankful I am for their sacrifice.

Toby Keith was a huge country star back in the early 2000's , and he still is. This was a tour of bases in the middle east after 9/11. This song talks directly about the awakening of a sleeping giant after the attack on 9/11!

“We’ll put a boot in your a**, it’s the American way.” They first got the memo when Pearl Harbor happened then when 911 happened we just reinforced that memo and they realize that they had messed up because it only took us like what two years to informed that memo after Pearl Harbor? And then when they attacked us on our land we proved we don’t have to be an older country to prove that we’re not here to play

@@braebuckner3464 I would say the memo to Japan that they had messed up was the Doolittle Raid on Tokyo, launched from the U.S.S. Hornet on April 18th, 1942. So that would be 4 months and 11 days after Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor.

Ironically, due to the fact that we haven't mobilized for war since WWII, the most recent countries to feel our wrath are Germany, Italy, and Japan. Nobody alive today knows quite what a truly enraged America looks like, and I imagine the next time the sleeping giant is awoken, we'll spend at least a hundred trillion, maybe more on the war.

Oh I believe we support our military! The news likes to be divisive but I’m 76 and went to college in the late 1960’s/graduated in ‘71 and I remember the protests and the Vietnam War and our returning veterans were treated horribly by so many protesters. It made we so angry at those protesters! There is much more respect shown toward the military now. It ebbs and flows. Sadly I’m not happy with either Presidential candidate and there is division here, but as a history major our country has been in some very difficult times. I’m older and partially disabled and the majority of my fellow citizens are really so kind to me. I have faith that we ‘ll get our act together.

He's received numerous awards for his work, as well as for getting other music and NFL stars out to tour. I don't know how many since then he's done but he's still out there going to Bases, including here in the U.S. Also, this song came out right after 9-11 and President Bush didn't like it (go figure, right?) but typical Toby in Oklahoma fashion said he didn't write it for him....it's for the troops. This song gets me so emotional. There's a lot of crap going on here right now and it may seem to the rest of the world like we hate each other and maybe sometimes we do. But you can count on one thing....if you mess with one of us you mess with all of us. These colors dont run.

You guys should also do “A Taliban Love Song” by him as well it’s hysterical! As an Army wife 9/11 was the scariest day of my life. I was pregnant with our daughter, we had a 3yr old son, and I knew it was going to be weeks before my husband was fighting a war somewhere. My husband is my life, as are my kids, and the prospect of loosing him for the last 27yrs has forever changed me as a person. We being our whole family, are exceptionally patriotic because we know the true cost of our freedoms.

As an American I can say that we are very proud of our flag and even most of the worst derelicts of our country will not dishonor our flag. I taught my children the rules for our flag when they were young. Do you know the rules for the American flag? There are several. No flag shall fly higher than it when flying next to it. When hanging flat the stars always always on the left. If flown at night it should have a light shining on it. It can not just be thrown away when old and ragged. There is a proper process and you can contact a local american legion or veterans place to have it properly disposed of. Never never let it touch the ground. There is also a certain way to fold it and of course- once folded in its triangle formation the stars will be on the outside. We are a little obsessed with our flag. 🤷‍♀️

Was wondering if you could react to the Edmund Fitzgerald? It's a song about a boat that sunk in Lake Superior a lake who "never gives up her dead" the lake is so cold that it perfectly preserves bodies in it and very little bacteria can survive to break down objects sunk in her waters. The Edmund Fitzgerald sunk about 17 miles off of Michigan and the lives of 29 sailors were lost, boats that pass the mass grave site ring their bells 29 times for each sailor. Their bodies still lay inside. Love from Michigan

Guys, I disagree when you said the British would not sing a song like this! The British wrote the first song like this, "We shall go on to the end. We shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be. We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender" Well done Britannia!

A patriotic song from the United States. But the mentality of it is from everyone thats stood in the face of evil and gave the middle finger in blatant defiance. You actually hit the nail on the head when speaking about how it is now "uncool" to support them. In certain areas in America, a big portion of the population now decided to criticize the military to extreme extents. There have been times where someone could be wearing a patriotic shirt, and they do get called a racist or worse just because they support our military. It's a topsy turvy world we live in, but I really respect your opinions on the subject.

I am reading this a year after it was written, and as I am writing, Russian forces are savaging Ukraine. It seems that we never learn the lesson. There ARE evil people in this world and brave men and women with everything from a 9mm sidearm to a Minuteman III are what protect the United States from ever seeing that on our streets. Maybe we ARE a violent people, raised on the stories of Englishmen sailing literally to terra incognito (the Jamestown and Plymouth colonies) having to provide for and defend themselves from scratch. So be it. We DO shoot and stab and beat each other too much. But even the Bloods and Crisps would join hands to wipe out an invading force. "A rifle behind every blade of grass" is the apocryphal quote from Yamamoto; if he didn't say it, he should have. BUT, what can you say about this? www.miamiherald.com/opinion/op-ed/article259392144.html Perhaps I am wrong?

My mom remarked how the patriotism she felt as a child during WWII was back when 9/11 hit as compared to the days of Vietnam. I wish we could get that back without something so tragic as an attack on our homeland. As citizens we can just try to make sure when we say, "liberty and justice for all" we really mean it and are sensitive to those who don't feel it.

I have just seen your reaction(s). I would like to point out that the Scots stopped in the mens and then dispersed with the majority in those mtns (Appalachians) and on into the middle and South of the country. The Irish came in all along the eastern seaboard and pretty much followed in the footsteps of the Scots. I am sincerely thankful that my grandfather's (and mothers) are not around to dispute who got here first, but being (mostly) Irish, Scots and American Indian (Irish immigrant working on the transatlantic Pacific railroad met this sweet little Indian girl) but they would all agree with the is song. My father was a WWII and Korean US Navy veteran, I married a Marine (Vietnam veteran) and our only son has since retired from the Navy. He married a Brit and have three grandsons. Surprisingly enough two of them are gingers. My late husband. Was German Irish-English. We are truly a nation of 'cousins' to Great Britain. We may, a s in all families, fight on occasion, but we will be there for ya'll, as you have for us. My branch of the family is from Texas and Oklahoma. My husband's from Tennessee.

I recommend the Tennessee Titans for Dave. Check out Derrick “King” Henry 20-21 Highlights to see why. His football accolades from back in High school through college into the NFL is unreal. The Titans are located in Nashville TN (the heart of where those aforementioned Scots Irish English settled) The offense is a bit of a throwback, led by Henry’s rushing. They focus on running the ball and controlling the clock (# of possessions) while having outstanding explosive play ability. The defense left something to be desired this last season, but every team has its weaknesses. Thanks Blokes & Keep the great content coming!

I have the absolute and utmost respect for all of our soldiers, sailers, airmen, and marines that put themselves in harms way to protect our country. They are true heroes and deserve all of our respect. But I don't have respect for, and honestly loathe, politicians who put our men and women in service at risk for matters that have zero to do with our national security. Loving our troops means that you do not send them into harms way unless its absolutely necessary.

In June of 2002 I was stationed at MacDill AFB Florida, we were, at that time still heavily involved in Middle Eastern Operations. It was announced that President Bush was coming to the base to address the troops and we were to assemble about 3 hours early in one of the hangers to await his arrival, (Hurry up and wait). As we stood in the hanger, the wing CCMSgt came out on the stage and said, may I present country music recording star Toby Keith. We were stunned, I don’t think anybody expected that. He had 1 other guitarist with him, and of course sang “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue”. That day I became a Toby Keith fan, I still get goosebumps every time I hear it.
