Welcome back to my channel! In this video, I talk about 5 tips (plus 1 bonus at the end) on how to have a great first date! A lot of these I have learned from my experiences going on dates so I hope you all find this helpful. A first date can be scary and I think it's natural for everyone to get a little nervous but following these tips will help make your first date a success! Best first date I ever had was also the last first date I've ever had. We met at a Panera for lunch and yes I did pay right away. I had offered to pick her up, but she felt more comfortable driving herself. Guys, don't feel bad about that, the ladies are just looking out for themselves and more power to them. Getting into a car with a guy they barely know is very intimidating for many women. I figured a lunch date would go maybe an hour and a half. We sat and talked for four hours. I'm sure it would have been longer but I had to leave to get to my job. We found tons of things in common and were able to enjoy a lovely time. I'd never been able to talk to a girl as easily as I did that day. About two years later I asked her to marry me. We've been married for six years now, have a beautiful daughter and a son on the way. Great things can happen from a first date.

The nice thing is that as the man, you get to pick the place. If you don't want to spend $100 (I don't blame you), then don't take her somewhere that is $50 per person. If she likes you she won't care where you went that much, and if she doesn't like you, a nice restaurant isn't going to change that.

1. Dress well (best version of yourself but not looking a try hard) 2. Pick the perfect place (not on your place) 3. Conversation (get to know her and if she doesn't reciprocate, she's probably not into you) 4. Know when to stop or continue your date (if you don't feel like continuing the date, be polite and tell her you had a good time) 5. Be clear about your next steps (don't give her false hopes!)

Getting ready for my first date with a girl I’d been crushing on for the entire semester at my grad school, she was frequently complimenting what I wear and would frequently bring up that she thought it was really cool that I worked as scuba instructor to pay through grad school. One the last day of the semester, I managed to conjure up the courage to ask and it was an emphatic yes. I’ve seldom felt happier lol, we’ve been texting nonstop for the three weeks between semesters and wow I already really like her, and it seems to be reciprocated. Religion is absolutely cool just not my thing. She’d take me to church twice a week and always talked about God, I’m agnostic but sort of pretended to be Christian to make her happier. I need someone more secular and she needs someone as devout as she is. But it was totally amicable and I’m seeing a new girl :)

Re: the after-date text, I don't even wait that long. I usually know whether I want to see her again by the end of the date, so if I do, I'll just tell her then that I enjoyed it and want to go out again. The first date with my partner now, for many years, was a no-expectation, I'll do it for a friend, kind of set up. I wanted to be kind and considerate, but had no expectation of anything but a nice quick casual lunch on a Sunday afternoon. It was at a brunch cafe in downtown B**lder, CO. We met at a parking lot downtown, walked a couple blocks to the place, had a nice low key conversational lunch, and walked back. Lots of conversation, I could see that she liked some attention. As we stopped for a crosswalk light at her lot, I just sort of spontaneously gave her a quick peck on the cheek. No drama. I could see that it lifted her almost literally off her feet. We floated across to her car, she got in and I said goodbye. Our next date was a hike on the ridge behind town. So there you go, by accident I hit most, if not all the suggestions you had in you list. I was never a big dater, and spent a couple tours in the Nav. That was about the first decent date that I'd ever had. We been together now for quite a while, with kids.

Conversation is a huge part. Keep it light. Inject in the conversation, but listen more than you speak. Women love hearing their own voice talk about themselves.

Another tip... Pay attention to what she says! If you ask questions that get her to open up and have fun, she'll tell you the worst about her on the first date. I've avoided a lot of bad second dates that way. Once I learned this trick, I looked back and realized all my worst relationships told me how the denigrated and manipulated the men in their lives and I wasn't paying attention when they said it!

I have a first "date" story that I still hold dear to my heart. It was July 3rd, and I asked this girl from my summer grad course if she had plans to see fireworks the next day. She said she didn't, and that she came from Thailand and didn't know where to go watch. So I asked her if she wanted to come with me to see the fireworks. She agreed, and we exchanged numbers. The next day, we met up around 5 to go to a food court to eat. We spent at least two hours just talking, we had not even realized that time just flew right by. We left the food court and walked to where we were going to see the fireworks. It was a nice cool summer day, we walked along a river, and talked some more for another hour. It was around 9 when we found a good spot to see the fireworks, and we just plopped right down to enjoy the time before the show began. And we just talked and talked until the fireworks began. Fireworks finished at 10:30 and we started to leave. We walked back to the train station and headed our separate ways. On my way back home, probably around midnight, I texted her that I had a great time with her and she also felt the same. It's amazing how much you got to know a person from just talking for so many hours, and just cap off a great day with a fireworks display!

Great tips, I agree with all you said. In fact, one tip I shared in my video is to avoid dinner for a first date altogether. Eating a full meal can sometimes make the conversation a bit awkward, especially when you're asked a question after having just taken a bite of food lol. Instead I think drinks and appetizers are great.

Just to go a bit further re knowing when to hold em and knowing when to fold em, it's always a good idea to end the date on a high point/note. Don't get caught up thinking you have to just keep dragging it on forever, if it's going well, because you're scared if you end it while it is that you'll never be able to get it going that well again. Back yourself to be able to get back there, if you end it on a high note, and LEAVE HER WANTING MORE!

I have never understood why people stress so much about that "after date text". At the end of the day I have always believed you should just be yourself and express how you really feel. If you like the person and you want to see them again just say so. 'Real' is IMHO always the best way to be.

I'm going to put this on all the posts I watched. I watched this video the morning of my first date and it helped a tonne. Stories about my life I was struggling to think of beforehand but funny ones came to me during the date just as I needed it. If you ever start discussing something negative, always turn it positive with a funny story. Make her laugh, never sit opposite if you can. Always get there before her. The bouncers gave me one last tip before the date arrived. I was standing in the cold lol. Don't wait outside; it makes you look desperate. Also how you feel, she feels so push away nerves by talking to those around you before she arrives and familiarising yourself with the environment. Make bets with her and lose so she can buy you a drink too. Let her repay the evening with only a drink/ice cream or whatever during the same date (she should offer). Go kino EARLY. Start with a hug, she may or may not choose a peck. Be decisive but a gentleman e.g. about when to eat or do things etc. Don't ask her where she wants to go, have things planned out. Flow in conversation. Move environments, even if it's seats in the same bar. Have things planned like a competitive or team work activity that allows you to interact. Gentle taps on her shoulder whilst laughing, briefly move your hand over hers and let go whilst your both laughing. But don't go too early on this, it has to set up a relationship for a bit. So maybe an hour in if it's going well. Move in close sitting next to her. Maybe even lean close to say something funny (make sure your mouth hygiene is impeccable. Floss, Use a tongue cleaner/scraper with tongue gel and ultradex to be sure). If it's going well you should have tonnes to talk about. Someone here said FORD family, occupation, recreation, dreams. Don't reveal too much about yourself if you want a second date. Tease her a little, to break down her wall but don't make her feel insecure. Compliment something she has done e.g. hair/worn rather than a feature of her body. Never compliment makeup; the reasons for that should be obvious. If the date is successful she'd set up the second one in some way, it might be mentioning she's doing something for charity etc. Take interest in HER. Generally if things are going well, her eyes won't wander, this is why it is so important you set up an environment you're comfortable with. The worse you are with conversation, the more external focus you need e.g. bowling to fill the gaps/tour a stately home, palace together or go on a boat ride. Point out similarities between you rather than differences. Choose DIFFERENT drinks to her on purpose after asking what she's having to show you have a mind of your own. Do something spontaneous at least once during the date like do something you're both willing to do to make you both embarrassed like dance randomly for a few seconds on your way out. It will show her CONFIDENCE and fun and exciting. You'll only have confidence if you calm your nerves that's why I'll say it again, talk to people around you and make small talk to compose yourself before the date. Finally go kino again at the end, with a hug, hopefully she'll give you the peck this time. Remember the aim of the first date is NOT to get a kiss (that's a Hollywood thing), but instead, a second date with her. Hopefully it's her that sets you up. Walk her to wherever she's going to get her ride home. Be a gentleman and put your arm round her, asking her if she doesn't mind you bringing her close if she's cold. Finally after an hour or two text to ask if she got home safely, she'll probably text saying she had a lovely time before that though. Give her a chance to do it though. Resist the urge to text her the next day before she does. Resist a further urge to text back straight away. That urge will be the hardest you've done. Respond with things that follow up on things you talked about during the date. Make her feel good about herself but always make yourself the prize and like a kitten, she'll keep interest in the ball of wool. Never boast though. I learned so much in one night and can't believe how many years I feared this day... And it went beautifully. She set up the next date. I just want to thank all of you in the comments section and the creator of this video who literally changed my life. Don't be put off if it goes bad, not everyone is made for each other and it is better you break off and stay friends than force something that won't work. Take it all slow. Don't be disheartened. If these silences are happening a lot and you’re the only one filling them, that’s not a good sign. Figure out if you and this person are looking for the same thing. 4.) Knowing when to end or continue the date. Pay for the first date. 5.) Be honest about if you want to see her again. Take some time to reflect on this after the date. 6.) The after-date text. Text her that you had a good time after the date or next morning. 7.) If you had a good time, and get a good response to your after date text, it’s a great time to set up that 2nd date

Always found things like laser tag and window shopping to be good choices, allows you to have fun at both. Laser tag allows her to show off her competitive side,( allows her alpha to show if she has an alpha personality) and window shopping allows you to get a vibe on what her interests may be depending on the stores she chooses to visit as you kind of hang back and observe.

Really good points in this video Courtney! :) BUT at the end? No please don't do that thing that you write/text her right after you get home that you have a great time, even though it really goes well. If some will most probably text right after date ends, is the GIRL, it is their thing on a first date to do, not ours. Our is to set up a second date, so do that instead! :) Seriously don´t do that. It will crush every possible tension between you two and uncertainty, yes uncertainty, which is exactly what makes a girl think about you, whether there will be a second date or not. And when the message comes with the suggestion of the other, her vision will be thrilled. Of course, this is not a thing between "life and death", and the only decisive thing is whether there will be another date or not. But the chances can be extremely reduced, I did it countless times purely spontaneously and not only me, but also a bunch of guys interested in self-development, always with the same or similar result. Just let her to process the strong emotions she got on the date and don't kill them with such a cheesy "sweet" message, that say "oh yea I´m already yours" :/) The moment you sign up for that message, the whole mystery about you in her head falls and it makes her feel that she already won you and loses interest. It can work, yes, but only if you are really explicitly ultimate dream number one men for her! Only then. (or listen Ed Sheeran - Don't:-)

I would advise having pre-first date that is in public place, and very low investment, like meeting for coffee. That way if she's 15 years older than her profile pictures, you can gracefully make your exit, if things are going well, you can extend the date. This also allows the woman to exit gracefully, with no feeling of obligation.

As a man, I agree with the tip that a man should offer to pay for the meal on a first date. But: not as follows: a female friend of mine (a feminist, as it happens) was on a first date, which had been pleasant, but when the waiter delivered the bill, the man said to her "I'll get this, of course." That "of course" really stuck in her mind. (There was not a second date.) Another thing not to do: another woman I know was on a first date in which a man took her to dinner at a fine restaurant. After criticizing her perfume and attire, he proceeded to order meals for both her and himself. My friend excused herself to the rest room, then went home. When he called her cell to ask where she was, she told him "Eat with the waiters."

Always look to end it on a high note and leave her wanting more. Much better for a casual date to go for only 20 minutes and be fun and engaging and to end on a high note, leaving her wanting more, than to drag it out for 2 or 3 hours where it's overall much less enjoyable and ends on say a mediocre, or low note.

So me being age 40, age 38-42 is the only working range I have. While an example of being needy would be talking about the next date while on the first date and saying stuff like “oh we are going to see each other again?”. While looking at her all nervously. The first example you expressed interest in a girl not particularly putting too much pressure on the outcome and the second was very needy putting the girl as if she is oxygen and just killing the mood by putting a lot of pressure on the outcome.

Actually, it does. I was diagnosed with a social anxiety disorder. It CAN and WILL be overcome, IF you put in the work. Work on the areas of your life that you feel insecure about. Force yourself out of your comfort zone. It sucks at first but it GETS EASIER! You don't need abs. Just doing light work outs in the morning, walking to the store instead of driving, and telling yourself that you are a beautiful, intelligent, and confident person in the mirror seams weird at first but it will eventually change your mindset over time. Eating healthier choices, taking pride in your appearance, and choosing to read a book instead of watching Netflix for even 30 minutes at night can have drastic changes on your personal wellbeing and general self love. I know guys who are FAR from traditionally attractive who have success with women because of personality, confidence, and radiating that inner beauty. YOU ARE WORTH IT!

I recommend doing one of those wine and design things were everyone paints the same picture that is roughly sketched for you. You can talk about color choices you date would have to put the cell phone away. Also, you both doing something, so you don't have to stress about having a moment or two of silence. Plus, at the end of the date you have some creative art for your wall.

So the thing that you mentioned about the movies, something that I was told a while ago is that movies can work on a first date, if you've already met them prior like a friend that you're seeing about taking further. However, what saves this from being an awkward first date is to go for dinner after. That way you have more talking points after the movie and its something that you guys now have a common experience.
