I hate the vitriol thrown at this woman. She tried so hard to get clean and get her kids back, and when she realized her children could have better lives with the families fostering them, she selflessly agreed to that. She wanted her kids to have good lives. Her son was fostered and then adopted by a wonderful couple who wanted to open their doors to Harmony too. Crystal tried. No one ever effing listened to her. We're talking about a court system who gave another drug addicted, violent criminal custody of a small child. We're talking about a completely worthless child services system who thought a voicemail would suffice in trying to locate a child who'd been missing for months... No one listened to Crystal. Crystal has a close relationship with the family who adopted her son & they help foster that relationship. If only Harmony could have been given the same chance... She was loved and wanted.

What kills me as it seems like this woman was taking the steps. Staying at recovery houses for women and children that provide opportunity. Meanwhile, the dad who had custody was living in a car and going to a methodone clinic at least once a week. All while a family who adopted the brother was willing to take her. Isn't the point of this system to protect children and try to keep families together? The more I know, the more I wonder why the social worker isn't also being charged for putting the poor baby in this situation and not removing her when they no longer had a home address.

This is common place these days. I have 3 children and one is my teenagers ran away after I took her phone. She snuck out while I was sleeping. Police found her standing by a restaurant and bright her back and woke me up. The police very aggressively told me I had to allow her to go stay at a runaway shelter. I said absolutely not. They called children services. They then tried to force me to let her stay somewhere else. I said no so they weren’t to court and got an emergency order to remove not only her but both of my sons as well. They cashed it “dependency “. Which meant I could not meet her safe. Their claim was that she would continue to run away and she would not be safe and since they remove one they must remove all. Mind you this was first and only time she ever ran away and my youngest was 5. I’ve never since drugs, don’t drink, had a full time job, no criminal history and a nice clean apartment full of food. Well she was 13 and my son was 12 and in my state kids 12 and older can say where they want to live. His dead beat dad who maybe saw 12 times in 12 years, never paid his child support. Was squatting an a house with no heat or hot water, hooked on drugs abs had went to prison for beating and raping me became involved. While I was forced to do constant drug testing (cut hair from my head which eventually gave me a bald spot), parenting classes, therapy act… he did not have to do one single thing. Nothing. I never failed a drug test completed my classes and they STILL have permanent custody to his dad. A year later my son ended up on my door step. He ran away . Said they had no food (his dad sold their food stamps for drugs) , no heat in the middle of winter, and was being psychically abused. His dad was even hiding his drugs never to him as he slept. I called Children services over and over and they refused to get involved. I guess they would have to admit they did something wrong. I ended up keeping him with me without custody as his dad kept trying to get him locked up for runaway but I was able to always beat those in court. It’s absolutely insane what chosen services is doing. Which in parenting classes there were so many women who lost their kids for almost no reason and who’s kids were given to abusive drug addicted fathers or who’s kids were abused in foster care. I found out through my attorney that there is a federal statute that actually pays these county agencies for removing kids from their moms. Now why they place them with these men with no jobs houses and anger issues I won’t understand

He was determined to have his child simply because she was his kin, but he had no intention of treating her like the individual and precious soul she was. It was for claim, for “she’s mine”. It’s sick to know he’d try so hard to get her just to hurt her. Crystal last sees her daughter in April of 2019 and does not speak with Harmony through December of 2021. Thirty two months go by without seeing or speaking to her daughter and then she goes to the police. A caring parent wouldn't wait almost three years to go the police. They would file a report immediately. Harmony wasn't a priority for Crystal. Unbelievable. Sounds like she was trying to be a good mom for sure.

It is disturbing how many people defend Crystal, throwing the “don’t judge” card. A Child was murdered! No, Crystal did not kill her but she and Adam are both responsible for Harmony’s lack of security and stability. Harmony’s welfare should have come before everything else in Crystal and Adam’s lives and she did not. I don’t need to know everyone’s childhood history to know that Harmony was failed by her parents. CPS failed her too. I am not saying that Crystal is evil. I do believe she loved her daughter but she bears some of the blame too. I am sure this will haunt her for the rest of her life.

Just read a 110 page investigative report on this.... you can find it using the search terms "office of the child advocate harmony montgomery" It's a startling read. Mass DCSF originally had her in foster care, and wanted to place her for adoption. But NH became involved because that's where her father lived when he was released from prison. The report is a really tragic read.... the Mass DCSF argued against the placement with Adam, but the NH Judge dismissed his concerns and did everything to protect "Adams" parental rights. Just sad, and taking an infant child to prison to visit with "Daddy".... WTF.... the parental rights should have been terminated. And what the hell was the judge thinking? Parents were messed up, sure, but the judge presumably wasn't on drugs, and bypassed a lot of safeguards that were in place for Harmony.

Why didn't she report her daughter missing before the year 2021 . These mom's can afford to take care of their nails but not be able to take care of their children. I was a single mom who raised 2 daughter's on my own. I was poor but managed to send my 2 daughters to college where they met their future husbands. Both are successful. Stop blaming your childhood for your drug abuse, I also came from a difficult childhood, who basically grew up without a mother. Little Harmony would have had a better life in foster care and getting adopted by a loving family. I have 2 adopted grandchildren, their mother couldn't give 2 craps about them. There is plenty of help for single mom's today and for drug abuse. There is also something called birth control. I cry about this little girl Harmony, her death could have been prevented.

This mother is not perfect, bit why the hell did they give custody to her father?!!!.
@UnseenOct10 ай бұрын
@sharron-6540 she did not. She said she was "struggling" with her daughters disabilities which is an excuse and a lack of accountibility. DCFS now acknowledges that they should have terminated parental rights entirely and adopted Harmony out as the returning back and forth with her mother traumatized her. The foster mom said it was so bad they weren't equipped to take Harmony back in, the baby they had more or less raised since birth. Her mom also allowed Adam to have UNSUPERVISED visits with Harmony when she had custody for a short time. DCFS let her have physical custody but kept legal custody and her mom snuck around to let Adam see her when he wasnt even cooperating with DCFS! She's not a monster like Adam but she holds some blame in this

If there's an attorney, judge, or law student on this thread, would you please help me understand why this attorney asked about her education? What relevance does that have to this case? I'm not a legal expert, but from my opinion and experience, people often judge others based on their educational level. Specifically, in my field, the lowest level of education is a Masters, and many of us have obtained doctoral degrees or are currently in doctoral programs (myself included); and I'll just say this: I see how people treat you when they know you're "educated" vs. how they treat you when they don't know. So, again, I'm curious as to why her level of education is even relevant.
