That last Mono G game was great. Very ironic how the opponent 'beat themself' by slotting in that Vorinclex. You can't factor in every scenario like a discard tergrid situation giving your opponent the Vorinclex and shutting down all of their +1/+1 synergy but I think in hindsight, it was a greedy move for them to put that in their deck when it's definitely 'winmore' with how successful Mono G is right now.

I disagree that Vorinclex is winmore in mono green and serves 2 very valuable lategame effects that can turn a losing game into a win. Sure in this one match-up it broke his back. More often I'm sure that Vorinclex turned the tide in controll and mirror match-up. It sure has against me when playing control.

Dropping Tergrid in Historic on a Cat-Oven deck is one of the best feelings ever. The only thing better is dropping an Ethereal Absolution on a Mono Red Calvalcade deck.

I love that the last game came down to a Tergrid flavor win. Fear is a powerful tool. Put the fear in an opponent's heart, and they'll sacrifice anything to forestall the doom. And Tergrid is there to pick up what they throw away. In the end, she will strip everything away, and use it against you. That is the essence of fright.

Very first thing I did with this deck was take out the Elderfangs for Shambling Ghasts. The Elderfangs are pretty awful, the extra discard wasn't needed, and a more complete treasure engine seemed to smooth out the mid-game a *lot*.

I run 2 copies of Westgate Regent in a deck similar to this because it's a card that needs to answered, but the discard ward has great synergy with Tergrid on the field

I used to run 4 Regents as my finishers but they just weren't working out. After more testing, I subbed in 2 Onyx and 2 Tergrids and it's comfortably pushed me to Mythic. I rarely use Tergrid herself, I use the Lantern 95% of the time as it's difficult for the opponent to remove. Plus when the board stalls, it's a good way to squeeze the opponent into submission 👍

I came across this deck twice on ladder yesterday and went 1:1 against it with your Boros list. I lost game 1 not knowing what to expect, then the second time I played that guy I emptied my hand asap because Boros has better top decks.

Great games. In the last game, if you don't steal Vorinclex, it looks really dire. I guess you would immediately sweep the board and hope for a rebound. Lantern + Tergrid is extremely rare, but overall Tergrid + Onyx is pretty dope.

Standard 2022 has turned into a very powerful limited format in terms of how games play out. Combat tricks, lots of cheap disposable creatures, big midrange piles.

I introduced some changes to be more "anti-aggro" because I was losing with Goldspan Dragons in BR, mono-green, and sometimes angels (if I did not draw Blood on the Snow). If someone wants to try, here are my changes (compared to CGB's list): Cards removed: 1x Elderfang Disciple 4x Skullport Merchant Cards added: 1x Deadly Dispute 2x Soul Shatter (anti-Goldspan, but I also hit Luminarch if I am on the play) 2x Demon's Disciple (in the worst case, it is a bad removal that you can bring back with Agadeem's Awakening, in the best case, you can kill the opponent's Professor Onyx and sacrifice Eyetwitch ;) ) I'm climbing back to Mythic now (after the season reset), and I made 15-5 with this deck so far ^^

You’re getting close the the secret sauce. I built a Rakdos Kroxa deck with these cards, and almost got top 10 Mythic in June. The deck is definitely worse now though with AFR. Would be hard to get there now.

@@guessthatsitthen4982 Westgate regent is cool but if I were putting In a big bomb flyer I'd want something with lifelink like eradicator Valkyrie or even nighthawk scavenger. Nighthawk because it trades favorably and gets you some life even against dragons. Valkyrie because it gains some life and can force sacrifice at the cost of your weenies.

@@kaemonbonet4931 yeah I agree scavenger is good but honestly, a turn 3 regent is one of the best plays this deck can get as it quickly gets out of red removal range and also has a kind of protection in its ward ability. Especially if you're taking cards out of the opponents hand to begin with. It's done well for me but I also don't run onyx.

Its difficult to play Terg in the 2022 queue. I tried this in the queue and just kinda broke even. I know, for me, not having Mazemind Tome, Solemn Simulacrum, and Extinction Event in my Tergrid decks hurt. Not having that turn four board wipe and a free scry is difficult to replace.

Have you ever played a game of Magic? xD Fumes exiles a Ceature, and if you mean Flunk then no, reducing a creatures power to 0 does not force the opponent to sacrifice, it just kills the creature. Only if an effect explicitly says "sacrifice" you can/must sacrifice something.

@@Taromisaki666 Most players don't know the answer to a large number of rules interactions, this is why there are so many tiers of judge testing to make sure people who need to know the rules do. The exact wordings on many rules also change over the years for a variety of reasons. MTG Arena also isn't always perfect at replicating those rules perfectly.

@@Taromisaki666 Unless you play one of like three decks in the last 5 years, there wouldn't be any way to know if it's a sac effect or not, and most players likely wouldn't be able to give a confident answer one way or another. Do you know if the rule has changed at all in the last 30 ish years? It's a safe bet it has. Or if people were taught that it was a sac effect at one point and have never learned other wise. Or that it has to be a sac effect or indestructible will stop it from triggering as it prevents state-based effects that destroy the creature. Being at 0 toughness only ignores regeneration. 701.17a To sacrifice a permanent, its controller moves it from the battlefield directly to its owner’s graveyard. 704.5f If a creature has toughness 0 or less, it’s put into its owner’s graveyard. Regeneration can’t replace this event. Oh hey look it's the same process.

It has been that way since the beginning of MtG and has never changed, you can ask 100 MtG players about sacrifing and 100 players will give you that answer. I think I need to switch my focus to standard 2022 bc all the new cards with the ones about to cycle out from Eldraine are getting ridiculous. White/Black is a bitch in standard ranked. Cleric class, vito, and forgot the name of it but the eldraine enchantment that you gain one life for each attacking creature and they lose one. Basically if they get this combo down you can’t swing unless you want to die and they just gain all that life back. I guess I need to run more control lol

Flunk it's very good. But since you have a board wipe to hit lots of creatures, I used Umbral juke (opp sacrifices creature/create inkling) as a good removal in a tergrid deck. It works pretty well

I found that Tergid alone as a win con is very very bad..I play 2 with a Lolth, 2 onyx and abit of hand hate with soul shatter..I also play 2 Lithoforms for the lands and 1 Valki
