A quick blast through the pathophysiology of COVID 19 and how it affects the lungs and ultimately the cardiovascular system and wider organ systems. In the worst case scenarios death occurs by multiple organ failure. Proper grim but fascinating at the same time.

What causes increased permeability? Is it the increase in the body's primary defence cells (i.e. neutrophils, macrophages) or chemicals associated with the innate immune system? That wasn't clear. And also, doesn't the body naturally try to avoid having an inflammatory response within the lungs specifically?

Fantastic, detailed, clear explanation thank you! Maybe a reassurance at the end that the majority of cases never get to this stage and the immune system successfully fights the virus before the person becomes seriously ill?

Also, it was thought the virus exited the cells through the biosynthetic secretory pathway, as is the case with other viruses such as SARS and MERS. But Covid-19 uses a lysosome exocytosis pathway. The virus deactivates the lysosomal enzymes by deacidifying them, and uses the lysosome to exit the cell for transportation and reinfection. However, entry into the ACE cells via endocytosis is poorly understood. But personally I think macropinocytosis is worth looking into. Hopefully this helps if you make a follow up video.
