Crosses are a symbol for Christianity, Catholicism, etc. I've always worn a big Celtic cross as a sign of my faith and ethnicity. So it's odd to see people using crosses as a trend....

Crosses and prayer beads were popular in the 80s and 90s; yin Yang, ohm symbol, peace sign, etc are seen all over clothes, jewelry and accessories even now. Symbols of faith & culture are constantly being used as trends, people wear claddagh rings without knowing the deep tradition surrounding them. Also, most people in the Western world know the context of the cross and have had experiences with the institution of the church or the people belonging to it so wearing a cross is a way for some people to reclaim the symbol.
