when I did my 65, we used all stock suspension parts. Was able to get new old stock back then. If I were to do it again, I’d probably do something different, but for now, the car runs and drives. good luck with this moving forward. Merry Christmas to you and your family

Cool kit! I put that on a 66 I was putting back together. Went together awesome. Someone wanted the car more than I did so I didn't get to drive it, but I hear it makes a huge difference in handling.

Or how big it should be... Out the man door is a slab and roof on the north side and about 18' long. Wouldn't be hard to frame and enclose that area but only half has concrete the other half is bricked. I can't do that much concrete on my own anymore and I can't get a truck back there either.

I have that set up and the bumpsteer is off the chart

Yeah unfortunately the kit keeps the stock geometry and does nothing to improve the bump steer. Still have to do the usual outer tie rod end to Heim joints to adjust it out. The Arning drop does actually help with the bump steer a little by improving the camber gain.

Well in my case I didn't put the brackets on. Everything forward of the firewall including the floor supports is all new steel so I never put them on. In fact I'm not sure exactly how I would make sure they were in the right spot anyway without anything to really go by.

Anyone use CPP 1" drop leaf springs from a 60's Mustang. I got a pair for $150 from Marketplace. They are $426 on CJ pony parts and Summit. The seller bought them for a 66 FB project but he realized that the 600+ HP he was going to make would require a bit more control out back so he went with 4 link. The leaf springs never even went on the car, still had the tags on them lol. I've got them on my 65, they only lowered the car 1/4 in but I've only been able to put 25 miles on the car. I could drive it in the rain but 😒 then I would have to wash it 😆.

I have not but I do have a pair of 4.5 leaf springs on the rack for mine. The stock ones were flat as a pancake after all those years which is pretty common. I could have had them rearched but I got a deal on a pair of barely used springs.

Doesn't look like they have one for the Comet. I will be doing a through install video not just a here it is on the car video.

Well that was my third attempt at that part and I really toned it down allot... It is one of my least liked styles of suspension to say the least.

@@swooshdave I used to be an ASE master so... But the designs that have come out in the last 10-25 years are really strange. They work well but with double lower ball joints and lots of arms there is allot to wear and easily break.

@@theinfernalcraftsman I just replaced the LCA on an E46. I still can’t comprehend how the double ball joints and the rear rubber bushing work. 😐

@@swooshdave Look at it upside down and in a mirror on the second Monday after the third full moon and squint and it makes sense ... Honestly there are a few that I have to really stare at for a bit to figure out what exactly is going on. Some of the movements are so subtle it's easy to not catch it. Really need a model one to play with to wrap your head around it.
