CP, grind a small notch into the plastic thingy where your guage wire can engage - so it is the exact same distance for each ratchet you are testing - its varring from anvil to pull position and will give false results (ie stronger pull closer to anvil and less pull farther away) - oh, just bought two koken 3/8 flex just now - 72T and 36T

@CPthetooladdict Жыл бұрын

@Jeff-rk8hq10 күн бұрын
Dude spot on. The stahlwille locking flex heads and ko-ken fixed are my go to…I can’t wait till they release a 4725zb long handle but the riveted joint is annoying not being able to tighten it but I been looking for a tear down of one of the flex models but no luck so far but imo the riveted joint was a mistake and the main reason I don’t like the flex heads nearly as much as fixed. Also ime ko-ken USA ( same owner as palmac) won’t honor the warranty on this ratchet if it breaks as it’s from Amazonjp as ko-ken USA considers the largest white market retailer in the world aka amazon a gray market likely because he don’t wanna deal with the inconvenience of warranty claims but w2 try monopolizing koken sales stateside tho trying to funnel all North American sales through one of his sites or his associates sites also known as authorized dealers but that’s speculative as I’m no expert but I do love ko-ken tools that’s just my two Pennies so take it for what it’s worth

I think the internals are interchangeable. Just buy the anvil and pawl (rebuild kit) for 72 tooth and you can upgrade your 36 tooth.

This ratchet and others from Koken seem to be great for low clearance applications. It would not be a regular workhorse for me in the way an american tool truck ratchet would be. This ratchet would be used for Nissan FWD water pumps and thermostats, spark plugs, valve cover gaskets on Subarus and Porsches. It would also have uses in exotic V8, V10 and V12 applications due to the low clearances these vehicles present. But, it would not be a regular workhorse due to potential difficulties in rebuild/exchange.

I’m not a fan of the Capri ratchets. I bought every ratchet they offered in each drive about 2 years ago. What I don’t like about them is they are all the 72 tooth ratchets. They also have a lot of back drag. Tons of it so you can’t get into tight spots and I work industrial maintenance so I could imagine being a car mechanic that needs something every day for a tight spot. I like the 90 tooth proto ratchets and the 120 xp gear wrench ratchets. I do see you have the comfort grip Capri ratchet which wasn’t offered at the time I purchased mine. At least I don’t think. I haven’t tried the Koken ratchets yet.

All those tools are new , not in use which changes back drag. Your test is inaccurate, your plastic adapter is like a torque adapter and as you display your test it's improperly tested.
@CPthetooladdict Жыл бұрын
Wrong, it's not a precision test, you clearly fail to see that this isn't necessary to be precise. It's to show back drag I'm not testing space shuttle parts you negative Nancy.
@brianbowman5402 Жыл бұрын
Not trying to be a complete dick, but your test technique is a bit inconsistent. It may not change results too much, but the hook on the meter should be at the same distance from the ratchet and the force should be applied perpendicular to that plastic connector.

Then do it better put your money where your mouth is atleast I tried lol
