The Dealer can only work with the Invoice to MSRP and Holdback to Invoice. There's some incentive magic from the manufacturer to the dealer for selling x amount of units but for example Ford is only going to pay that stuff if the dealer sells a specified number of EV cars (that nobody's buying). Point here though, the Dealership and Manufacturer are separate entities. If the Manufacturer doesnt offer rebates, incentives or special interest rates, the dealer cant drop the price. They can sell things for a loss if they want but to get to this 35% or whatever discount off, the Manufacturer must offer it as an incentive or rebate. Otherwise they have to re-issue a new invoice and Monroney Label and refund the dealer the invoice price paid, which did happen with some Ram trucks last year.

Wow, what a great show today. I used to dislike TK's garage when he was friends with Randy from Auto Auction Rebuilds, but he was a great guest today. Well done to both of you. I wonder what this might do to Tesla to lower their prices again. Interesting conversation.

I was looking at new cars in my area like I always do yesterday. The dealership I bought my Hornet R/T from (Jeff Wyler Dodge in Canal Winchester, OH) had a Hornet GT AWD that was in transit. MSRP was around $34,300, they were taking off $12,500. $8k discount, $4500 rebate. Selling price was $21,800! It was the cheapest AWD new vehicle available in the Columbus area at 8am yesterday. It was sold before noon. Most dealerships in the Columbus area are taking $10k off 2024 Dodge Hornet GT's. It's no wonder it sold so quick. Haters are going to hate on Stellantis, who cares? I have owned 3 of their vehicles with no problems.
@lbperlb3 күн бұрын
it's not hate. Dodge/Jeep make excellent vehicles, but they can't just decide on a whim to be a luxury vehicle, and add no luxury but up the prices by 30%. It just doesn't work that way.
@martingriggs63622 күн бұрын
@@lbperlb That was Jeep that made that decision. Ram and Dodge didn't make the same decision, but their prices got bumped up anyway.

There’s no money to be made on vehicles at the lower prices so they are taking what they can get and plan to make it back when they break and it has to go into the shop. Plan to pay a ridiculous hourly rate and high parts price.

Go to manufacturer website, Ram has an in transit section. If dealer has a stock number associated to that vin you can buy it. If the vehicle has not hit dealer it is impossible for dealer installed accessories to have been added. Good luck.

A couple years ago I wanted to replace my current Jeep with a new Cherokee. I went to my local dealer for a test drive.. I selected a new Jeep Cherokee on the lot and they gave me the keys . Dead. Put on jumper box, started with check engine light on, disconnected the jumper, dead again. Second one, same scenario. Third one started and died a 1/4 mile out of the lot. I walked back, threw the keys on the desk and my old Jeep is running just fine.

If Stellantis have to cut there prices by 35 percent, I believe that is an indicator of the power of the consumer. Who wants to take out a second mortgage to purchase a vehicle? Supply and demand, people don't want to pay $100,000 for a pickup truck. Low demand, dealership lots full. Consumers have the power, Stellantis has no choice. They have to lower prices if they want to stay in business.

The USA is in a deep recession that will last 20 years and in that time most of the car manufacturers will be gone for good. All the modern high-tech garbage will be left to sit and rust while the basic trucks of the early 2000's will keep going. The fun hasn't even started yet.

Oh... Think about this. You buy a vehicle for 20k. You finance 19k. A good bank would say, I'll charge you 2%-3% interest. However they say, oh!, the Feds rate is high so with good credit we have to charge you 7-11%. Banks are involved in this too!!!
