Enjoyed this one. I love the solid construction. Not over complicating by trying to make it more than a good table with storage. Laminate is super in this use and is worth the price. Paying for a worktop that is smooth and stays smooth for a long time is worth it. Especially when building a better more evolved out-feed table. Not a necessity for your first out-feed table. Hoping for a little more hand tool action in the future. Also love seeing and hearing about layout and the logic you followed.

In Australia I work with a lot of old recycled hardwood timber, our hardwoods when first milled are very dense but after 20 to 40 years to put a screw in you have to pre drill so sawing this timber goes through a lot of blades and the only way to cut at thickness and not burn out the blade on the first cut is to take it a bite at a time, so to get through a 2"to 3" board may take 5 to 6 passes and still the blades don't last all that long.

Those casters seem interesting. I am gonna have to check them out. Look more useful than the rockler style ones that you step on to lock into place. I also feel the rockler ones just aren't beefy enough and tend to bend well before their "rated" weight load.

Yep, not a fan of the Rockler ones on heavier benches. These seem to be a much better solution, especially because I can lift each end of the bench with my pallet jack to activate them.

@craftedworkshop Well done sir! Clearly your shop has grown and you needed a bigger bench with more storage. Will you repurpose the old table (perhaps turn it into a mobile work station for jobsites?) Or will you sell it and recover alot of the cost? Besides getting yourself a new table better suited to your current needs, but you were able to add to your channel, thus creating more attention/revenue for yourself. I call that a win/win. I have not had a chance to watch all your videos yet...I love the lift under your other table and the chain lift. I have disabilities and I've been researching those systems. Do you have any videos on the bench lift? You said you have one for the "crane". I suggest you delete and block haters...you don't deserve it.

It occurred to me that your Echo Show 15 might be a little awkward to use at that height, but I bet if you used the same kind of hardware that is in those coffee tables with lift tops you could pull that whole panel out and up to a more comfortable height, then just push it back down when done. Of course, that may mean you wind up buying even more of those drawer pulls you were trying to use up, and then the cycle continues. Also, glad to see you made it through all the storms.

Please, my friend, do not wear gloves when using rotating machines !!! I know that the ones you wear are designed to avoid cutting your fingers, but only with static blades ( knives, handsaws, chisels,…). With a rotating machine, if the fabric of the glove is pinched by the blade it will drive your hand toward the blade instantly !!! You have so much followers that you're committed to show the right security rules, sorry ! Otherwise, congratulations for this brilliant project, that a really nice piece !🤩 Greetings from France !
@craftedworkshop
@craftedworkshop 3 ай бұрын
Thanks for that advice! I'm not sure I agree when it comes to the style of gloves I'm using here. They are extremely snug and help me have a much better grip on the material, meaning I'm less likely to slip while using them. I think these are thin enough where a spinning blade would be more likely to rip/cut them before pulling my hand in. I should probably do some testing!

How are the Casters going to work when you have the entire table loaded down with tools, materials and other stuff from a build and "need" to move the out-feed table? I know you're a fit guy, but that's going to pose a problem in the future. I personally like the casters that use your foot to press/engage the caster and then you lift the lever to release the caster. But, to each his own... Good luck

@@craftedworkshop I agree with the choice of laminate, and who cares if it gets scratched? It's SHOP FURNITURE, not a kitchen counter. However, I used wood grain laminate from Home Depot. Cheaper than FENIX laminate, and you don't see the (plentiful) scratches. And for the really big gouges, I fill with wood flavor bonds. It's a bombproof finish, dried glue pops right off, and it's super smooth.

@2:10 Huh. Just an hour or so is enough for the glue to dry? At least to work with it? I need to test some glue up times. I usually err on the side of caution and leave it in clamps overnight. And @19:10 I'll have to file that away. Looks like a great laminate for shops. Thanks for the tip.

Because they dropped all of us KZbin woodworkers with no warning after getting tons of exposure from us for years. I don't want to promote them any more because of the way they handled the situation.

Man, everyone wants to comment about the chain hoist being upside down, but if you take 10 seconds to google the brand, you'll see the product landing page specifically says it can be mounted either way and there are pros and cons to both mounting conventions. The direction he currently has it mounted allows him to access the battery without having to get a ladder out. He's not in a factory nor is he rigging industrial loads on the daily. His use case and needs are not necessarily the same as yours.

I'm not entirely sure if it's correct what you mentioned, about dado stacks now being legal internationally. Being in the Netherlands, I'm still unable to really get them. It's not illegal in the way you'll get in massive trouble or something, but it's still kinda frowned upon. I can be wrong, haven't really been able to find a lot of news around it all. I know there's one brand that has dado stacks now I think, that are allowed. But it's all a little bit confusing to find proper (and more importantly, recent) information about

Nice Workshop furniture but why didn't you just turn your old workbench by 90 degree when cutting for size? Or where the rollers under the old work table not intended for use?
