This is the tractor I picked up a few months back. I was able to remove all the Johnny Bucket equipment, clean it up, tune it up and get it ready for regular work. The mower has a lot of hours on it, but these things are built like tanks!

Very Nice DGT. I just picked up a 1995 GT 6000 18HP two days ago for $300.00. Got it from a guy at work.It belonged to his grand father. It is in fantastic shape.The seat has a couple small rips.Stored inside its entire life. The mowing deck was brand new and hanging on the garage wall and was just installed this spring. Apparently his grand father always towed a gang mower set-up with it.Should make a nice back-up unit.

Nice tractor. Never saw one with a tach on it before. I have a 29 year old Craftsman 2 garden tractor with the Briggs and Stratton opposed twin 18hp with the 6 speed. Got it in 06 for 350. I just put into what I paid for it this spring. It's been a very reliable tractor that keeps going. I have no idea how many hours mine has on it or how many where on it when I bought it. The deck isn't rusted out at all. In fact still has the stickers on it. I will keep it till it won't run no more.

Sears as a company really took a nosedive unfortunately, but their tractors were legit. At first I had their GT3000, got it used. That thing was a little beast, 25 twin kohler, oversized tires, everything overbuilt for sturdiness. My next one was their pro-series with a locking differential (I can't NOT have that feature on my property), this time 26 hp kohler. Another nice tractor, I still use it along with my massey ferguson.

I just picked up a DGT6000 and am restoring it to like new condition. The only thing I cannot find is the seat for it. If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be good. It has 4 screws on the mounting bottom which screw to the adjustment seat pan. But concur with posts above that this tractor is worth every penny.

I just had one given to me by a friend.😀 It does need parts replaced, drag link, blad idler pully, gas cap, tire tubes, fuel line, and the typical oil & air filter change but, I'm not complaining. It came with the plow, wheel weights and a cup holder, shaken not stirred 🤣.. it's powered by a 27 hp Kohler V twin pro. 👍👍 The one thing that I wish it had is a hydrostatic system .. that would replace the belt side of the hydro-gear .. and everything would be hydraulically powered front and rear pto & quick connects for multiple attachments however, the belt system produces a lot of torque😀. I am thankful for the machine that was GIVEN to me though...yayy!!! I am having trouble finding the correct drag link, your's may be the same. If possible, could you send me a picture or vid of your drag link? Thanks in advance

750 is not high hourage on these tractors. I visited a garden tractor/lawn mower grave yard a few months back and most of these had 2000, 3000, 4000+ hours on them. Only reason why they were parked were because basic stuff like the head gaskets or oil pan gasket would go out.

Hi Eric, my wife and I sold our suburban house and we are moving to a 5ac property. I need to get a mower/garden tractor to work the land. Mainly snow blowing and mowing for now, and working a garden (plowing ect) in the future. I’m very handy with small engine work and repairs. I’ve found some GT 3000’s in my area for the $500-600 Mark (no blower) but have also found an older JD 212 with a mowing deck and blower for $700 (kept indoors but currently not running. What would you go for?

I just picked up a 2006 FS5500 Barn Find yesterday for $350. 24HP B&S 48" deck, and it only has (12.7 hours) on it! It was, and still is pretty dirty as expected, but everything I've cleaned so far on it is looking really good. A couple small surface rust spots on / under the deck. I was planning on flipping it, but its pretty nice and my YT4000 24hp B&S now has over 1000 hours and doesn't burn a drop of oil, so this FS5500 should have a ton of life left. I bet there's not many mowers, if any at all that age with so little hours on it, unless they got a Sears museum set up somewhere! lol

I'd say any 80's or 90's GT 3000,4000,5000 or 6000 would qualify. I LOVE The Craftsman GT II, and there was a one year only Craftsman GT that was a rebadged Simplicity tractor. Very well built! I prefer the hydrostatic transmissions for mowing, but the 6 speed Hi/Lo manual is a BEAST! they will really pull some stuff around!

@JesseCase
@JesseCase 2 жыл бұрын
He only kinda mentioned the year and that it was based on a Simplicity design, but it was the 2012 CTX9500. The thing is an absolute freaking beast of a garden tractor! Craftsman even at times would refer to it as a sub compact. It was designed to compete with the top Simplicity GTs and the John Deere 700 series GTs. You should look it up, it is quite an impressive machine. Plus they were black and quite a sexy and sleek tractor for the time. The only bad thing is they only made it for 2012 so they can be vary hard to find and are very expensive! I would sacrifice my mother's first born son to have one. I love my 2021 Husqvarna TS354XD and am quite proud of what it is capable of as a GT, but it doesn't hold a candle to one of those CTX9500!

@@FarpointFarms i have 2 decks i am swapping between mowers, one is a red dgt6000 54" hydrastatic (blown engine) and then i have a red gt5000 with the 26 kholer hi/lo 3 spd trans and the deck mounts are slightly different but I don't know if thats because one is a hydra static and the other is not or is it because one is a 48" and the other a 54", but as long as you swap all the brackets with the proper deck, you should be good to go. The 2 arms on the sides that raise/lower the deck is different between a 48" and 54", so you need to swap those on with the proper deck. so i am taking all the goodies off the dgt6000 onto the gt5000 which at that point makes it a dgt600 lol kinda confusing but as long as I have them both side by side and swap things over complete, i should be good. at least I hope so. also on all these craftsman era mowers they have mulch diverters(triangular little brackets) spot welded to the deck, this really tends to clog them up and also stops it from throwin the clippins very far from the chute if you use a bagger. you chisel those off and run some hi lift blades and they cut WAY better IMO and throw the clippins about 6 ft out lol. I liked the vid and howdy from SE Ky

Thee ways to tell 1. Some Craftsman serial numbers are arranged 072804 : 07 - year 28-day 04-month. 2. Briggs & Stratton engine "CODE" number starts with 07 = 2007, if the engine is original to the machine. 3. The mower decks and steering drag links are different on 2005(?) and up GTs. If you try to mount the 54" deck from a "newer" GT like the one in this video on an "older" GT, the belt will hit your steering linkage and you'll know something is wrong. They don't always interchange.
