Perfect timing! My 85 y.o. neighbour decided to gift me this exact same snowblower with less than 10 hrs on it (the thing is not really appropriate for small residential lots but can't argue with free, well, if you discount shoveling their driveway for the last 10 yrs that is). Anyway, the thing sat for a few years after my neighbour's partner passed away and the fuel system was thoroughly clogged. My mechanical skills suck but with the help of this video, it's ready to go for the winter season. Many thanks for the video, it made my job a success!

Can you help me identify/locate a correct carb replacement for my 28" Craftsman Snowblower ? The model number is CMXGBAM1054543 description 31AM6CSG793. I purchased new in fall 2019 and have always used non-ethanol gas. I can take apart and clean to find out why it surges, stalls when turning choke off but would rather replace with a new one. Than you for the help in advance.

@@IndRepair thank you for this. That video was very informative. It is disappointing the quality control checks are not reliable. I think I am going to take mine apart and clean and reassemble and if I cannot gain success I will order one that you mentioned, and check myself to be sure there is no debris inside. @@IndRepair before buying a new carb, I decided to pull apart and clean as you gave information on. There was a lot of gold colored varnish on everything and there was some guck laying in the bowl. I used carb cleaner and brushed everything up nice after taking apart the parts. I drained all the fuel from the tank and replaced with fresh non-ethanol fuel. Unfortunately after I started it up the idle was running very high. It was not surging, but just high rpms. When I slid the lever to a slower speed it was not a gradual smooth decrease in rpms it barely slowed down until I got down about a third power then was not really stabilizing and would stall at a point before the stop position. Could it be possible When I put the linkage/aping on I may have messed up something? Also is there a set position that the bowl needs to be lined up with when putting it back together? Or didn’t it matter? I can take it all apart again and make sure I didn’t miss anything. Sorry to bother you? Just seeking your advice. Thank you😀.

I would say one of the gaskets may be on wrong or is not sealing correctly. An air leak at the gasket toward the engine will cause high rpms and irradic running every time

I wouldn’t use compressed air pressure against your skin on your hands and fingers. If you happen to blow that compressed air ,with gas and carb cleaner under your skin you will be spending sometime in the hospital to be treated for a serious air injection infection. Never chance shooting compressed air under your skin.

Always better to be safe than sorry. That being said I use air regulated down to 85 psi at the work bench. Needed is 7 bar or just over 100 psi is to pierce the skin even directly against the nozzle. Most air nozzles have safety ports toward the base to prevent this from happening even with higher pressure. I have been doing this for 20 years with no issues but anything can be dangerous if proper safety measures are not followed. My uncle shot paint into his hand some 20 years ago and ever since then I have been very aware of the dangers of high pressure and pressurized injection of the skin.
