When I got married in 2015 I asked the Organist if he could learn this. He did and played this beautifully on a stunning pipe organ at the stunning Govan Old Parish Church in Glasgow, my home city. The title Glasgow Love Theme and the beautiful song being perfect for our Glasgow Wedding.

Just finished watching Love Actually. Yes, I know I’m late, but heartache led me to watch it. And when I heard this beautiful piece during the movie, I had to look it up. And when I saw what the title of it is, it instantly reminded me of the woman that I miss and love dearly because she is Scottish. Lynne, if you somehow ever come across this comment….whether tomorrow or 30 years from now, I love you. Not a day has gone by that I haven’t thought of you, and I regret losing you every single day.

Oh, crap. I am in the same boat. 39 years ago, when I was in college and on a cultural exchange trip to Europe, I met the girl of my dreams..... You know 'The One'. She was 4 years younger. We went on six dates during my month in Germany. Incredible chemistry. When I returned to The States, we kept writing letters back and forth each week............ until a 'Dear John' came to my mailbox on Christmas Eve, 1984. I cried for two days straight. About six years later I married another woman. She was nice but not 'The One'. 'The One' went on two years after that to marry another guy. Lucky guy. A little less than two years ago, when I was going through 'Male Menopause' and experiencing a whirlwind of hormone and testosterone changes, I happened to google her married name, and a picture of a beautiful blonde appeared on the screen. She had the right face, but the hair was all wrong. I reached out inquiring if it was indeed the girl I loved 37 years ago. It was. She had dyed her hair blonde. (Instant fireworks and my testosterone etc. went off the charts!!! We started e-mailing one another almost daily. I lost 16 pounds in three or four months and was taken off a heart medication and diabetic medicine.......... "No longer needed", said the doctor. I was doing 200 situps a day, and experiencing [I do not know how to say this.........] mini-orgasms when I would think of her. I know she is happily married and so there is no chance of us being together................ but I promised her that if (one day) we have both lost our spouses to death, I would be on the next flight "over the pond". We still chat via e-mails, but it is only once a week now. "Texan Traveler".......... I advise you Google her name !!!!!

I just finished a book, the most beautiful book I've ever read, that ended similarly. She left her London college bf after dating senior year because he still couldn't verbalize his feelings, but she knew he loved her based on specific happenings from the last several months. 6 years after graduation, the run into each other in a record store (both music graduates) in NYC. They go back to her place, make love, eat pizza, listen to her new film score, then she lets him leave with a kiss on the cheek. She realizes what she's done, runs after him but loses him in the crowd and falls onto the ground crying. Didn't have his contact info, wasn't on social media, just old KZbin cello performances of his at sold out concerts. I threw the book in the garbage. I know I can pretend they met up and got back together for good, believe me I've tried. But I can't experience it like I could with the book. My heart still aches from time to time. Even now. Think about the the scene in the movie where the best friend went to her door with the cards, and as he was walking away, he tells himself, "Enough now." He was able to finally move on after telling her the truth. Please find her and tell her. Any woman at the very least will be flattered (I'm a female with a boy name).

My father has dementia and is bed bound. He is quite ill and honestly I don't know how long he has left. In his room he has a radio tuned to Classic FM, to keep his mind occupied. This weekend just gone I had to visit my parents to begin the poignant task of clearing out the house I grew up in, so that they can sell up and move into somewhere more manageable for their final years. It was as hard as you'd imagine, as my mother is having to watch many of the relics of the past 40 years consigned to a 12 yard skip on the drive. My parents both love this film and I'm quite fond of it too. We've watched it together many times at christmas. I particularly love this beautiful piece of music. Yesterday, as I was leaving to make the 4 hour drive home I went upstairs to say goodbye to my dad, knowing, as I do, that every time I see him now it could be the final time. While trying to keep it light and hold it together this track came on the radio. It fit the moment just perfectly, though it destroyed me inside. Like it or not I guess this will forever be my father's 'goodbye music'. Could be worse, I suppose. Could have been 'Size Of A Cow' by the Wonder Stuff.

Thank you for sharing Dave. Sometimes it just helps to type right? A Brit here in Canada thinking of you and your family. And keep the humour...it will get you through things, only Tubthumping or perhaps Cotton Eye Joe would be worse.
This song was played when I was walking down the isle at my wedding ❤always dear to my heart

The theme and the movie are amazing. The movie is more than just a so called Christmas romantic comedy. It's one of these rare movies that touch you deeply forever because it's the stuff that life is made of ❤

If Craig Armstrong knew that his way to compose his music follows all the moments, all the places of my life, here in Paris and of course in Britain near the sea, with birds, with my remembers, my trips . I have never heard his music in live, and Piano Works more than the others. Thank you, Mr Armstrong. I have Piano Works in CD, it's better than nothing. Sorry for this very bad english.

In the movie (and in the sheet music) in the final chord there is no mediant, so you don't know if the story has a happy ending. Here you have added it to become a beautiful major. I love that! Makes you feel that it's gonna turn out well in the end
