These crash cushions are very common in the states. They work very well I hope England adopts this design too.

we have, the absorption ones are pretty common now, this video is over a decade old now, although, Some of the ones in the US had this slight issue: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qYOaeKCufaeagpo

I hardly see any of the ramped barriers in the UK anymore it's all the cushioned ends
@karlosbricks24135 жыл бұрын
you do still sometimes at the end of them barriers, ie on the opposite end of the cushioned end where it's pretty much impossible for anyone to hit it.

If i had to choose between a blunt plain steel barrier end or a ramp over it, I'd take the superman route everytime. Back in the day crash bumpers were not really an option so I understand why we have them. We have a lot of those ramp ends for the concrete medians around on ramps etc.

At least the occupants would survive in the ramp crash, and they may not if it was a blunt, non collapsible barrier. So in this scenario, the ramp, while still leading to a fairly severe crash, would save the occupants' lives. They'd still be bumped about and hurt though. March 20, 2015 3:14 am

To keep track of when they were posted. Most forums on the internet date stamp the posts. KZbin just gives you vague dates, such as "2 years ago", even though they have the EXACT date stored. August 13, 2015 8:18 pm

No problem :-) Yeah they used cars this age for these tests around then. I also thought that a (different) Fifth Gear video was from an older series than it actually was. It was the one where they put petrol in a diesel Astra and diesel in a petrol Escort, the petrol cost less than a pound per litre. Turned out there was a three-year overlap; first garages hit £/Ltr in 2004 and the last ones not until 2007.
