Net sum = good for sure. Your transparency when discussing the pros and cons of things is so very much appreciated. If Wolverine ever can't do the things it's definitely the fault of whatever tires he's testing.

I have that front axle, different branding but the same, and other than both sides pins slipping, which I caught in time, I've had no issues and they've performed really well

Did you try 1.6mm piano wire as a "pin" ? Just give it a try next time it happens with the servo😉 Wolverine is probably my new favourite in your fleet....just fun👌👍

I just had a really bad torque twist issue with a Capra I rebuilt, until west desert wheeler talked me thru it…the final fix was heavier springs. I also widened the upper links at the chassis by putting them to outside of mount.(still inside cage) Which did eliminate some too. They were practically straight, now they’re triangulated. Such a difference… it was twisting the hell outta the cage to where axles were off centered. I was baffled for two weeks. Big thanks to Logan for sure. I wouldn’t have figured it out on my own
@CrawlerCanyon2 ай бұрын
Springs aren't doing anything to the torque twist other than masking it. It's still going to twist on climbs. Nine times out of ten the twist comes from binding/interference, the remainder is something in the geo.

Grind the housing/knuckle for more steering, clearance axle joints for less camming :) ujoints move in a slightly elliptical motion. Think double cvd would be correct for this style, double cardan would have 2 u joints. Strength on the tiny 2 pins in the cvds would be a concern. maybe a tiny firm spring in front, and/or shorter spring. canyon trails just too slippery
@CrawlerCanyon2 ай бұрын
The C-hub would need ground to get any more angle, and that's not somewhere I'm willing to go. The double-whatevers are just nicer than universals. I'm sold after one set. They use 2mm pins, which is bigger than most universals. I can't honestly tell if it's the CTs or the fact that the inserts are for a different rig. Just too firm for the way this guy puts the weight down.

Check yor double cvd lock nuts. Mine fell apart and I lost a pin also. The lock nuts had no locktite on them…but they work soo good !
@CrawlerCanyon2 ай бұрын
I wish I had had time to mention that in the video-- cleaning the rig the following day, EVERYTHING was loose. The set screws in the CVDs, the wheel nuts, everything. So yeah-- absolutely take 'em apart and threadlock. I mean, we should be doing that with every Amazon and AE part, but we all know that we don't.
@HVT032 ай бұрын
So a CVD upgrade for any axle that has a good amount of steering angle is important? I would say yes, but is it worth it spending that extra 20-25 bucks if you dont have any issues with the U-joints? Wolverine is going to win Crawlimpics '24, and he barely made it on time to be run on Mavericks and qualify to the rest of the show

Hey Mr.c do you think the 45kg flash hobby is good enough for a injora Capra cage with Capra axles?
@CrawlerCanyon2 ай бұрын
The 45kg isn't bad. I just prefer the direct-power models. I have that 45kg in a couple of rigs. Never had a problem. If you slap some big rubber on there, you'll notice the tires overpowering the servo.

@@Bonitacreekrcs then yeah, the 45 will probably be enough. I have three sets of Capra-width axles: 1.9 Ruptures, non-LP 2.2 Ruptures, and (currently) 2.2 Canyon Trails. All of those will bully a servo around.

No, you're absolutely right. Too much lateral at the cost of forward drive. Nothing about the combo is terrible, but it's just not quite right.
