If you are a kinky natural and do this, I HIGHLY recommend you do a seek and destroy mission on single strand knots (ssk)!! Just cut them out, even if they are high up on the hair strand. Your hair will grow out so fast, so dont worry. Ssk damage the strand and rub against hair around it. Once ALL of the ssk are out of your hair the comb glides through completely easy and your hair basically doesnt tangle. It's amazing!

Mostly asian country called it rebonding and it has been in the market over 20 years because I have been doing for 20 years. Of course over the years the formula getting better protecting your hair. Please don't be fool when they say permanent straight. Yes it permanently straighten your hair but not the new growth. It depending on how fast your new growth grow. Some need to retouch every 3 months & some every 6 months. After few going to the salon to do this, almost 15 years I do it myself. But you need to experience with the salon and see how they do it, how the do the knot test. Do it yourself need you to have good flat iron, not the cheap one. And you need to maintain your hair like always conditioner, serum, hair mask. So far i didn't loose many hair nor I have bald patch. In Asia (I live in Malaysia) relaxer doesn't require flat iron. Rebonding require flat iron. That's the difference as far as I know. Rebonding very famous in my country for many many years.

I actually downloaded Yelp and just searched “Japanese hair straightening” and it showed me some places that offer the treatment near me. I think price sort of depends on the place but it ranges anywhere from $250-$600 or more. I’m middle eastern with short hair and can’t deal with styling it every day. :(
@amanda-li6vd

I should also add that you should make sure to check the reviews to make sure the salon you’re looking at is safe and has experienced stylists. :) They should offer to give you a consultation to see how well your hair can handle the treatment. If they don’t, maybe try asking for one so you don’t ruin your beautiful hair!

Question: after flat ironing, could you set the hair on perm rods, then neutralize on the rods to create permanent curls?
@who8631
@who8631 3 жыл бұрын
Right after you get it, you shouldn't crease it or wet it at all the first 3 days I think, and no heat during the first 10-14 days. After that it's fine. Double check a website that specializes in it.
@KheizlinaDanial
@KheizlinaDanial 3 жыл бұрын
Nope. It won't curl even if you rolled it with heat roller because the lotion formula is straightener lotion. I've tried it before thinking it will stay as slight curl. It doesn't.

Yes, that’s called the “Gina Curl” just DONT FLAT IRON after you rinse the creme out. Let the rinsed hair set on perm rods. Lightly pass the dryer over on low setting to dry it out on the perms rods. Neutralize. Remove rods, Rinse. That’s how Gina Rivera does her “Gina Curl”
@Meera436
@Meera436 Жыл бұрын
Yes you can that technique is called a Gina Curl. She puts the thio perm on then rods the hair sets it under a very hot dryer until completely dry puts a liquid neutralizer on it then rinses. Same no washing for three days only difference is in aftercare you want to avoid shampoo/conditioners and products with proteins. Also don’t sleep with wet hair and only use curl cremes and leave ins no gels mousse etc.

@KheizlinaDanial

I've been doing it for 20 years. Started when i was 26 & now I'm 46. I have very thin hair and many says that my hair gonna break or i will lost a lot of hair. But for 20 years, my hair still intact. Never had any bald patch. I don't even have grey hair yet ( i don't dye my hair). I will do this every 6 months because it wasn't curly like on the video. Just messy waves that make my hair look like a lion. Eventhou now I have short hair i still rebonding it (that's what asian country call it) and manage to have fringe. Main thing after you doing it you meed to take care of your hair like how you take care on your skin. Always use conditioner, serum, hair mask. Don't blow dry your hair too often. If you need it then set the heat to low. My hair never dry after doing this. Now days the formula protect the hair very well. Btw, i did myself at home after few years going to salon. You some how pick up the trick to test your hair and just follow the instruction on the lotion & neutraliser packages.

Haha yes! It will not revert, this is now my hairs permanent state! It DOES have volume, it regains some of that but it looks air dryers. If I braid my hair I get curl, or if I use pin curlers or a curling wand, but it’s straight otherwise! I live in Florida so for me it’s very very practical because my hair was HUGE!
