Looks pretty good you have to start somewhere. I plug while it's a meteorite into a blade and make sure it was at least a 16th above on both sides. My parent material was at least 3/8 of an inch thick at minimum. When doing large bars like this if you are at least a heavy 3/8 to 1/2 inch then there should be an sufficient amount to get the job done and your plugs should be at least 16th to 1/8 above the surface. All in all looks great

So I don't have any experience doing plug welding like this but watching your video I was thinking to myself if instead of tig welding the plugs into the holes if you were to get a good friction fit with the plugs and leave them good and thick you could then hammer them like rivets so that they would expand inside of the holes you made thus joining the forge weld from the inside out of that makes sense. Anyways just a thought but on to more important things and that would be this project was extremely awesome to see you guys tackle. You all deserve a big pat on the back and a round atta boys. Can't wait to see what you do next. Now it's time for me to hammer that little subscribe button on the channel.

I had a similar idea a while back. I’m very new to forging and thought about trying to do something like this with ball bearings.

Looking at the final billet it almost seems a shame to make anything out of it! It's a nice piece of art on its own. Nice technique, many thanks for sharing it.
