This is the best tutorial to make a ribbed hat without having that weird bunching in the top. It almost looks worked in the round without being worked that way. I already made one hat for my husband, and he loves it. Two family members now want one as well.

Thank you for this video! I thought I understood how to single crochet but this tutorial proved that I was missing every other stitch! I tried for hours and couldn’t understand how my rows were getting so short after I measured the chain! I got three rows in and had to frog it several times over trying to figure it out! The beanie turned out beautiful. I had to change a few things because the slip stitches really made the ends really tight and hard to knit. So I used a double and single crochets to make things a bit easier. Otherwise, very clear instructions and worked really well. Thank you very much.

Yes, you re not the first one. Just you need to crochet as loose as possible at the crown. I have also seen that one girl substituted sl St with Sc and SC with HDC. Hope it helps
