Very nice but too rich For those of us who have cholesterol issues use 1pkt Knorr mushroom soup with 2 cups of milk add the garlic and parsley. Make the soup and add the mussels equally good. Bon appetit
@MikesGourmetKitchen2 жыл бұрын
Great tip! Thanks Zoe , will maybe release a video in future that takes all those aspects into consideration , Cheers !
@ls-888 Жыл бұрын
Should be more concerned of what's in that Knorr soup. Cholesterol BAD is big pharma propaganda; the brain is made up of 35% cholesterol that it makes from the food that you eat, every cell in the body has a cholesterol membrane to keeps it intact,sun turns cholesterol into vitamin/hormone D,and hundreds of other molecules vital to health and life.

Garlic mussels, recipe should good but when do you put the garlic in?
@MikesGourmetKitchen2 жыл бұрын
Hi There Eileen ! You can add the garlic when the cream has started to thicken up 😀
@colleenangeline2207 Жыл бұрын
He didn't add any garlic! 😂 He was so busy adding 750 grams of fat to 1000 grams of mussels 😂😂. If you subtract the weight of the shells, that leaves maybe 500 gr of mussels. Phew! Then on top another 500gr gouda cheese!! South Africans who eat this regularly must be soooo fat and having heart disease! 😅

I’m guessing creme fresh is sour cream
@MikesGourmetKitchen3 жыл бұрын
Hi Lastchocolate , creme fraiche is not sour cream , creme fraiche is cultured and ideal for cooking. Sour cream forms lumps when heated up , a good substitute for creme fraiche is pouring cream 😀

Mike, your recipe is really extremely fatty. I love cream, but without garlic to help keep the heart and arteries healthy, and without a scrap of parsley, your mussel recipe is a recipe for heart disaster! Go have a look how Germans or the French cook mussels. Much more balanced, and still very delicious!
@MikesGourmetKitchen Жыл бұрын
Hi Colleen , i agree it is quite fattening and not the healthiest option , but its based on a recipe from a South-African restaurant group that people seem to love , we have made them the french way before also 😃
