I love this! Now it's making sense why I'm drawn to brown and navy instead of black, as a slightly warm toned person, and why I like my browns/camels and aqua greens and blues together - they're complementary, if you account for the pure hues!

Loving this color series so far! As a warm-colored myself, I find it soooo hard to resist the urge for cool hues :( A major change came when I bought a beautiful orange dress for my birthday last year and I discovered how big the difference is when you wear colors that match your skin and don't compete with it.

@@Beteljess you mean Justine's video? Not at all. I don't know if you've seen her previous videos, but she has been very vocal about personal style and high quality clothing. She even has several videos against fast fashion and excessive buying.
@MarielaInojosa3 жыл бұрын
@@Beteljess I mean, you can wear whatever color you like, that's not the point of the video. I think she's just trying to show which colors will look better depending on your skin tone. This isn't something exactly new, she's just structuring it on a video series. I think everyone has an item of clothing that gets them compliments such as "that color looks amazing on you!" And that's what she's trying to show in this video, the colors that will give you that special glow. I love some shades of pink, even the ones that are too cold for me. Will I stop wearing them? No. But I'll definitely try to find warmer shades in the future. That doesn't mean I'll be throwing my pink rain boots away.

I’m going to be a little bit annoying, I do apologise in advance since I’m sure you already know these tidbits that I find missing. One of my main AHA moments with colour students was when I revealed to them that their long-standing view of the colour palette division of cool and warm divided in half was narrow. That there are, in fact, cool yellows and warm blues; that the temperature in them could also be accentuated by the surrounding chroma depending on the proportion of the sample, and that there were so many more unexplored possibilities once they opened that door. The other thing I find missing is a deeper dive in olive undertones. We can be both cool and warm, as well! I do appreciate that these two tangents of information can over complicate a short, easy video, but since you’re a very good communicator and you are doing a series, I dare say a lot of people would love to go in depth at this possibility of expression.

👏🏼 Thank you very much for your contribution into popularizing the basics of color theory! I am on the warm side of the color wheel, and I’ve replaced “standard neutrals” in my wardrobe with warm, earthy tones. I have always seen that pure black&grey&white do not suit me well, but I worked in the bank and I was somewhat restricted by corporate dresscode. I did what I could to flow towards warm pallette, i.e. choosing a milky white or cream white rather than blueish or greyish white etc. In the last few years I’ve left that job to become accessories designer and I am gradually changing all my wardrobe basics into beige/orange/terracotta/brown with a pops of grass green, olive green, yellow, coral, red and everything that looks good on me. Still have some black and white clothes, but much less than before and I’m really happy about it. I like to dress colorfully and I feel great wearing colors, even pure hues.

What a great topic! I've been dwelving all my life with color issues in my wardrobe. I think I may have warm undertone but cool greens, blues and greys suit me the most. These are very hard to find in stores because most collections (specially winter collections) gravitate a lot arround beije. It´s the worse color ever for me because it makes me look sick like anemic sick. It´s very frustrating because it matches everything and I find it very pleasing to the eye. However I'm sticking to your advice and choosing what looks good on me. Best thing ever. I narrowed down my wardrobe by 80% and I feel much happier. Thank you Justine!

I love playing colors, but my challenge these days is that my skin tone is warm (my wardrobe is full of golden-warm-browns, golds, reds--basically, my closet is eternally Autumn), but now I need to balance that with my cool-toned naturally gray hair which really pops with cool tones! That burgundy shirt, by the way, is fabulous!

I have the same problem: a wardrobe full of darker warm tones and my new hair (Before an operation they shaved them all and they grow back whitout the warm tones. I think my age adds to it.). My hair is mostly mid- to darker neutral brown with some greys. I toned down the colors in my wardrobe and wear more neutral with them - it helped. But Im still sorry, I couldn't wear my golden browns with my bright yellows in one outfit anymore. I will incorporate them like accessories - according to Justina's proposal.

Same here, I have warm undertones, and now white hair. I used to look nice in deep browns and reds, now the reds not so much. I never wore pastels and I looked horribly in greys, now grey looks nice, and pastels even nicer, including blue... It’s a bit confusing. :) Someone on another channel said that with grey/white hair pastels are out and we should wear dark colours and black. I look a hundred years old in black and sick, plus I really don’t like black, so definitely no black for me. Braun still looks nice though. I wonder what Justine would say about this.

I must add it's also important to know if one looks best in clear chroma colors with black or white added or muted colors with black or white added. It's the entire combination of hair, eyes and skin that makes one warm or cool. I look great in browns, olives, navy and camelsetc. Black, jewelt ones, and pastels wash me out. I love color. I have noticed that what ever the color is, if it's dark enough (with added black) it will suit me. Purple is probably the only bright color from the wheel that suits me. My skin is yellowish and it has cool undertone. My veins actually look more like turquoise than blue or green. It's not a pretty combination to be honest, and neither gold or clean silver suit me very well. However copper and steel are both very good and old darkened silver too. This series is very interesting and helpful, thank you!

It's been difficult finding brown/camel/rust neutrals the last few seasons. (I've had to rely on olive as a basic )Black, grey & pantone fashion color of the year have dominated every Fall/Winter for a long time. I was finally able to find a wool coat in camel just last Xmas & another shorter coat in caramel this sale season. I was so pleased. I wear a lot of peach/coral/salmon, yellow-greens both muted & bright, & red-violets. I already have plenty of white, black & light grey in my wardrobe & have been trying to incorporate more tans & browns in jackets, bags & shoes to go with the warmer colors of my wardrobe. I've been color analyzed twice-the first time I was told Autumn & the second time Warm Spring. They are both warm but there is a different intensity & feel to the palettes.The Warm Spring palette seemed more flattering although at first it felt very bright & a little too girly lol compared to the earth tones & black I had been wearing from the Autumn. But I always get more compliments when I wear those feminine "spring" colors, it never fails.
